Problems Derived from Differences between Czech Accounting Law and IFRS

Object of the thesis Problems Derived from Differences between Czech Accounting Law and IFRS is to analyze differences in financial reporting according to the Czech Accounting Standards and International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS). First part of the thesis concentrates on theoretical grounds and general requirements of financial reporting. The second part separately describes fundamentals of financial reporting based on Czech Accounting Standards and IFRS. Third and the most extensive part of the thesis is devoted to an analysis of specific differences and derived problems. The thesis can serve as a guideline to creating a financial reporting transfer bridge.
The Evaluation of the Financial Situation’s Company

The diploma thesis focuses on evaluation of the financial situation’s company. Used methods are financial indexes, site and bankruptcy indexes. The first thesis’ part analyze theoretical fundamentals of these methods, in the second part is the company introduced. The third part is an application of financial methods. In the last part there is a summary of a financial situation and proposals to its improvement.
Dopad potenciálního zavedení IFRS pro SME v ČR v oblasti dlouhodobého majetku

The diploma thesis deals with the impact of different fixed assets presentation standards according to the Czech Accounting Legislation (CAL) and International Financial Reporting Standard (IFRS) for Small and Medium-sized Entities (SMEs). The main goal of the diploma thesis is to evaluate the impact of different presentation standards from CAL and IFRS for SMEs perspective on the values of financial statement items that affect the transparency of the selected financial analysis indicators. The theoretical section of the thesis focuses mainly on fixed assets according to IFRS for SMEs and its comparison with fixed assets according to CAL and IFRS for SMEs. The practical section of this thesis identifies the areas of fixed assets which are described differently by CAL and by IFRS for SMEs and sets them to model cases. Then a quantification of the differences in the financial statements is performed by using model accounting units arising due to different ways of reporting. The quantification is then followed by an evaluation of the impact on selected indicators of financial analysis.

Diploma thesis deals with comparison of the financial reporting of commercial insurance companies according to Czech accounting legislation and International financial reporting standards. The first part focuses on the harmonization process in accounting, definition of the specifics and requirements on the financial state-ments of commercial insurance companies prepared in accordance with both sys-tems of reporting. Another part is devoted to the field of financial investments and technical reserves, their classification, measurement and accounting. The following chapter includes summary of the differences between both systems. Theoretical finding are applied on the illustrative example through which are analysed the impacts of different recording and measurement of the financial investments and technical reserves on the main components of the financial reporting.
Multisource financing in the financial statements of the non-governmental non-profit organization - People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals

The major topic of the bachelor thesis is financial reporting of the non-governmental nonprofit organizations. The theoretical part deals with the characteristics of the non-profit sector and the comparison of the Czech and American environment. The practical part is dedicated to the economic analysis of the american non-profit organization PETA and assessment of its efficiency. Subsequently the American and Czech accounting standards are compared and the differences in financial reporting with the focus on the specifics of the non-profit sector are specified which demonstrates some of the insufficiencies in the Czech accounting legislation.

This diploma thesis describes the bankruptcy of the company, which is solved by company's reorganization, in accordance to the Czech legislative from bookkeeping and reporting and marginally from law point of view. In the beginning there is a short description of the reorganization process and further definitions of main terms with which such process is connected. Main part of this thesis is focused on couple of possible ways how the reorganization of the company may be performed. Finally, such solutions are deeply analyzed within finished processes of reorganization including the calculation of the part of settled liabilities.

The Methods of Improvements of Financial Statements of European Banks: The Issues of IFRS And Its Influence on The Economy

This thesis deals with methods of improvement of financial statements of European banks and their impact on the economy. The financial statements are the principal information source used by external users when making economic decisions. The thesis is focused on analysis of impairment of financial assets and insufficient creation of provisions for credit losses, on faire value and amortized cost measurement of financial assets, macrohedging of interest rate risk, reporting of goodwill and on derecognition and transfer of financial assets. The thesis investigates major differences between US GAAP and IFRS. Initial hypothesis are set down at the beginning of each chapter. These are confirmed after the analysis of the academic literature, primary resources and empirical data. The thesis confirmed the principal assumption that financial reporting under IFRS provides to European banks several ways how to improve their financial statements, which contradicts to the requirements of fair and true view of economic situation of entities. Low-quality financial information can lead to instability of the financial markets, which does not contribute to the economic growth.
