Foreign language as a communication barrier in intensive care

This diploma thesis analyzes if there is communication barrier with foreign patients at the selected intensive care units. We dealt with question whether hospital employees perceive communication with foreigners as a problem or not and how can they solve the problem. The first (theoretical) part is devoted to the role of communication in nursing process and to the definition of term communication barrier. In next chapters we have analyzed the profile of multicultural nursing. Then we focus on the issues of cross-cultural communication and communication barriers in contact with foreigners and the most common causes and techniques used to deal with such situations. We pay great attention to prevention and potential solutions to barriers between cultures and ethnic groups. The motivation for the thesis was supposed effecto of communication gaps on health and higher psychological burden on staff, especially when one of the basic activities of nurses is to educate patients. Research interprets the information obtained from a self-designed questionnaire survey. Questionnaires were distributed to intensive care and resuscitation units in four hospitals in Prague. Evaluation of the influence of grant projects for the management and development for the selected city

This thesis evaluates the impact of grant projects for the management and development of the city Poděbrady for the period 2011 to 2015. The years 2014 and 2015 are considered as the key years focusing on the individual grant projects. The thesis contains theoretical and practical part.
The theoretical part characterizes public administration including terms related to the topic. Last but not least, the thesis describes regional policy, structural funds and operational programs which are the main sources of grant projects.
The practical part of the thesis is divided into five subsections. There is a brief characteristic of the town as well as the analysis of the individual grant projects completed between 2014 and 2015. Based on analyses, an evaluation of the selected projects and the town economy is the essential part of the thesis. The survey classifies selected grant projects from the public point of view. Moreover, it recommends developing strategies for the town Poděbrady.

Small business and its application in private sector

The work deals with the small business. It primarly tries to specify this business by the most accurate way in accordance with valid legal regulations. It mentions its main function in terms of market economy and benefits and disadvantages in comparison with other entrepreneurial subjects. Below this work provides information relevant to feasible forms of support destined to small businessman not only on the part of Czech Republic but also on the part of European Union. The attention is also focused on the law forms of enterprise, that are occured in market environment the most common, and on the sphere of obtaining financial resources on runnig and expansion. There are introduced the basic accounting of all business matter -- double entry bookeeping and tax accounting, and outlined tax liabilities in this thesis. At the close of the work is mentioned practical sample of institution, that is operating in the sphere of small business. Whereas the main objective of these parts is to sum up a position of company in the market environment by means of obtained information, survey of competitive environment and interest in provided services within the specific region.
