Maňourová, Zuzana ; Wildová, Radka (advisor) ; Kucharská, Anna (referee) ; Vykoukalová, Věra (referee)
The dissertation thesis focuses on approaches to teaching beginning reading and writing with the specifics of the analytic-synthetic method and the possible innovations of this method. It introduces the analytic-synthetic method in a modified form which originated in pedagogical practice as a reaction to search for approaches which would not only reflect the individuality of each pupil but also aim better at the development of functional literacy. This modified method incorporates procedures stemming from holistic and analytic methods which in the initial stages operate with larger speech units and which give the pupils more space for active work of heuristic nature (active work with texts and writing their own texts). The aims of the dissertation thesis are defined on several levels. Secondary analysis of theoretical sources reveals current trends in teaching early reading and writing, defines general characteristics of a modern teaching method and at the same time it points out questionable aspects of the analytic-synthetic method in its traditional form. Action research then continuously provides information on the application of the modified analytic-synthetic method in the environment of three successive first forms at a primary school and it concludes with the specification of general...
