Developments in Poland during the PiS government in 2015-2019 and its reflections in the German periodical Junge Freiheit

This diploma thesis deals with the development of Poland during the single-party government of the national conservative right-wing party Law and Justice (PiS) between 2015 and 2019 and the presentation of this development in the German national conservative right-wing weekly Junge Freiheit. The work aims to find out how this periodical reports on the individual steps taken by the Polish government in the areas of migration policy, judicial reform, public media reform, views on history and family policies with regard to cultural proximity and the shared values of the PiS government and this medium, and also the present anti-German element in the strong nationalist rhetoric of the ruling party. Among the sources used are mainly articles from the archives of the printed version of Junge Freiheit, as well as articles from its online version, and laws passed by the Polish Sejm in the given period. The thesis is divided into three chapters, the first of which briefly deals with the development of Poland until October 2015, i.e. the parliamentary elections won by PiS. The rise and fall of the SPD: the development of electoral preferences under Martin Schulz's leadership

This bachelor thesis deals with the development of German Social Democratic Party's (SPD) preferences during the leadership of Martin Schulz in 2017. Immediately after announcing his candidacy to the office of the German chancellor at the end of January 2017, the popularity of Social Democrats in public opinion polls increased rapidly. However, over the next eight months, it dropped to the same level as before Schulz's arrival, i. 20 %. A similar result was reached by the party in the federal elections in September 2017. The thesis outlines the development of SPD preferences within a limited period of time based on data from political opinion polls and their interpretation using articles from news magazine Der Spiegel. The thesis is divided into three chapters, the first one is dealing with the party's previous political development and the emergence of its crisis, and also contains a professional CV of Martin Schulz. In the second chapter there are graphically processed data from surveys of seven different agencies in the monitored time period.
