Křest a návštěvu kněžny Olgy tedy není možné jednoznačně chápat jako součást christianizační politiky Konstantinopole. Většina autorů, z jejichž děl jsem při psaní této práce čerpala, umisťuje křest kněžny Olgy do Konstantinopole. Pokud tedy ke křtu opravdu došlo v centru byzantské říše, je možné jej chápat jako "pasivní" misii, tedy že úsilí vzešlo nikoli ze strany byzantského panovníka, ale z podnětu kyjevské kněžny. Byzanc pak misií a christianizace využívala pro své diplomatické zájmy, a proto je z byzantského pohledu křest kněžny Olgy možné vnímat spíše jako projev obratné zahraniční politiky. Není možné zcela s jistotou říci, zdali bylo cílem kněžny Olgy při její návštěvě v Konstantinopoli vyjednat zřízení samostatné církevní organizace anebo navázání úzkých politických vztahů, které by byly potvrzeny sňatkem byzantské princezny se Svjatoslavem, popřípadě obojí. V konečném důsledku však křest jako takový nepřinesl ve své podstatě Kyjevské Rusi žádný dlouhodobější výsledek. K šíření christianizace nedošlo a neexistují žádné zprávy o tom, že by vůbec byly projeveny nějaké snahy o pokřesťanšťování na území Kyjevské Rusi v této době. Křest kněžny Olgy, ať již k němu došlo v Kyjevu či Konstantinopoli, je spíše možné vnímat jako projev sílícího vlivu té části kyjevské elity, která již dříve přijala...

Impact of the Ukrainian conflict on population mobility

Since spring 2014, an armed conflict has been taking place in the eastern part of Ukraine between the Pro-Russian separatists and the Ukrainian state. As a result of this armed conflict, there was a stream of forced migration. The statistics speak up to about 1.7 million people internally displaced and about a hundred other hundreds of people seeking international protection abroad. Of those seeking international protection, more than 200,000 have been granted temporary asylum in Russia. This thesis examines the impact of the Ukrainian armed conflict on the mobility of these displaced persons. The first way to study the impact of a selected conflict on population mobility is quantitative data analysis. In this analysis are compared the data on conflict intensity with data on internal migration in Ukraine and international migration to the states Russia, Poland and Czechia. The second way this diploma thesis examines the impact of the conflict on population mobility is based on the research of ten Ukrainians who left for Czechia from conflict areas and whose primary reason was the military conflict. The results show that there are links between the intensity of the military conflict and the migration strategy of the people of Eastern Ukraine.

The image of political nation in the oldest Czech chronicle This work focuses on the image of the political nation in the oldest Czech chronicle - Chronica Boemorum (The Chronicle of Czechs) by Cosmas, "the first Czech historian" [Robert Bartlett, University of St Andrews: "Bohemia made a spectacular debut in this respect with Cosmas of Prague, whose vivid prose style, gifts of powerful characterization and ability to convey action, and the occasional personal touches he allows (such as the yearning picture of his long-gone student days) make him not only a vital historical source for the Premyslid lands but also one of the great writers of the Middle Ages. He initiated a tradition which continued, with peaks and plateaux, throughout the Premyslid period, and this was important, for a native historical tradition was one of the marks of a Latin Christian society."] Cosmas' Chronicle (The Chronicle of Czechs) is part of the context of "national history". THE ARCHAIC SLAVIC RELIGION IN A PERSPECTIVE OF GEORGES DUMÉZIL'S COMPARATIVE MYTHOLOGY JIŘÍ DYNDA ABSTRACT The presented paper deals with the application of Dumézil's comparative mythology on religion of ancient Slavs. I will briefly introduce the life and method of Georges Dumézil and examine the influence of Durkheimian sociology and Lévi-Straussian structuralism on his research. A short summary of his focal theory of tripartite, three-functional ideology will be presented as well. Then I will present an analysis of Slavic archaic social stratification by means of tripartite ideology; I will also accentuate the importance of Slavic religious specialists, i.e. the "priestly class", and also the need of searching of (supposed) clearly articulated tripartite theological structures of Slavic paganism, especially in cultic practices. In the last third of this work, four possible dumézilian interpretations of Slavic pantheon will be demonstrated. Each function will be examined on the basis of primary sources reading and secondary interpretations. In the concluding synthesis there will be shown the antithetic, yet complementary character of given academic theories and interpretations and subsequently I will evaluate the dumézilian hypothesis in general. Perun. History and typology of the Slavic thunderer

The goal of this study of Perun is to systemize the existing knowledge of the given issue, to introduce the main sources, important theories and to attempt to find traces of the Slavic thunderer's cult in the folk culture of the Slavic nations. The study is divided into two parts: Perun's History and Perun's Typology. In part one there are main written sources about Perun, etymology of his theonym, traces of his cult with the Slavs of the Central Europe and the Balkans and the portrait of the Old Russian heathenism. The second part presents profiles of Indo-European thunderers, the main attributes of the Slavic thunderer, the transformations of Perun into figures of Slavic folklore and the main theories concerning Perun's role in Slavic archaic religion which have appeared over the past forty years. The chapter on sources contains texts dating back to the times of Kievan Rus - the only texts of the Early Middle Ages referring to Perun. Next, there are early modern age sources from Poland from which some errors concernig Perun's cult arose. The chapter on etymology proves the Indo-European root from which Perun's name was derived and its semantic extent which is connected with the thunderers' cult in the traditions of many Indo- European nations.
