The Use of Artificial Intelligence for Optimization of Production

This paper deals with the problem of optimization of a production plan by using genetic algorithms. It contains a brief overview of the principles behind genetic algorithms in scope of evolutionary algorithms and artificial intelligence in general. It also takes a closer look on the challenge of production planning and control and all activities connected to it. This is followed by description of the modification of genetic algorithms that needed to be done in order to implement it into a computer program, which is used to create and optimize the production plan, and is a result to the issue that this paper deals with. Incorporated is detailed escription of principles and functions of the program, that it offers to its users.

Unconventional Supercharging

Supercharging is an effective method, which increases power and torque of combustion engines. Supercharging means, that the inlet air is compressed and pushed into the engine chambers. Compressed air has higher density, so more fuel could be added. Supercharged engine has better fuel consumption and produce lower emisions then naturaly aspired engine with the same power. The air could be compressed by a gas driven turbocharger or a mechanical driven supercharger. These devices and their modifications are described in this book.

Design of Experimental One-cylinder Engine with Floating Liner

The aim of this master`s thesis was to design a single-cylinder test engine for measuring of the friction forces between the piston group and the cylinder liner. Main engine parameters are based on the common production engine. A floating liner device was chosen for a friction forces measurement. It was necessary to solve an attachment and sealing of the floating liner. Stress-strain analysis of the floating liner has been done. Next step was to re-design a production crankshaft also with a connected balancing devices for single-cylinder engine. Powertrain was seated in a completely new units. Finally the engine was completed and mounted on a stand.

Barcode recognition system

This work deals with principle and technological process used to detect barcodes that are commonly used. It contains brief overview of barcodes according to type and structure. Also it takes a closer look on type DATAMATRIX and its analysis. It describes possible hardware and software approaches that can be used to detect barcodes, describes concrete concept of scanning barcode and software solution for its identification.

Methods for enhancing quality of digital images

With arrival of affordable digital technology we are increasingly coming into contact with digital images. Cameras are no longer dedicated devices, but part of almost every mobile phone, PDA and laptop. This paper discusses methods for enhancing quality of digital images with focus on removing noise, creating high dynamic range (HDR) images and extending depth of field (DOF). It contains familiarization with technical means for acquiring digital image, explains origin of image noise. Further attention is drawn to HDR, from explaining the term, physical basis, difference between HDR sensing and HDR displaying, to survey and historical development of methods dealing with creating HDR images. The next part is explaining DOF when displaying, physical basis of this phenomenon and review of methods used for DOF extension. The paper mentions problem of acquiring images needed for solving given tasks and designs method for acquiring images. Using it a database of test images for each task was created. Part of the paper also deals with design of a program, that implements discussed methods, for solving the given tasks. With help of proposed class imgmap, quality of output images is improved, by modifying maps of input images. The paper describes methods, improvements, means of setting parameters and their effects on algorithms and control of program using proposed GUI. Finally, comparison with free software for extending DOF takes place. The proposed software provides at least comparable results, the correct setting of parameters for specific cases allows to achieve better properties of the resulting image. Time requirements of image processing are worse because designed software was not optimised.

The Visigothic Kingdom in the Modern Literature

The objective of this bachelor thesis "The Visigothic Kingdom in Modern Professional Writing" is to interpret certain substantial aspects of the era of the so-called Kingdom of Toledo. The author has focused on preselected issues such as Visigothic legislation, the nature of king's power, issues of religion, the position of the church, the power of Visigothic aristocracy, living conditions of the Jew minority and the reasons for the downfall of the Kingdom of Toledo. The issues as outlined above have not been preselected at random as they constitute the background against which the key events took place in the Visigothic Kingdom. The author's conclusions are based on the results of scientific research of contemporary, mainly Spanish, but also foreign and Czech historians. Special attention is paid to the historic events towards which the historians differ in view and opinion. The aim of this thesis is to contribute to a deeper knowledge of era that was a major stage in the development of European civilization and introduced many priceless values to its culture, to which, however, Czech historiography has paid too little attention.

The author's conclusions are based on the results of scientific research of contemporary, mainly Spanish historians. The sense of this thesis is to contribute to a deeper knowledge of era that was a major stage in the development of European civilization and introduced many priceless values to its culture, to which, however, Czech historiography has paid too little attention.

Establishing Old Age Pension Retirement Age Limits

Establishing retirement age is a key issue for each and every pension system. How this issue is resolved is palpable for every citizen and also has a major political dimension. The main reasons for increasing the retirement age - which is occurring in all European countries - are demographic development and economic factors, such as higher life expectancy, increasing the proportion of pensioners to the number of economically active people, and the growing costs for the pension system. This thesis describes the current reform steps in Europe and provides a thorough analysis of factors which are relevant for dealing with retirement age issues. The analysis is based on official statistical data, which are scrutinized even in mutual correlations. The need for an interdisciplinary approach which eliminates unilateral vistas and biased application of data lifted out of context and long-term trends is emphasized. Special attention is paid to the genesis and current solutions regarding the retirement age in the Czech Republic. This thesis offers reasoning which supports setting 65 years of age as the statutory retirement age, including the mechanism for increasing it depending on how the life expectancy factor develops.
