The aim of the bachelor thesis is to analyze the effect of the Great Depression in 1929-1936 on the development of traditional Czech branches of industry, illustrated on the example of brewery branch. As for the introduction, I outline a development in the Czechoslovakia after the First World War. I focus on the general characteristics of brewery industry, its role in the Czechoslovak economy and its development trends dated till 1929. I follow to study the Great Depression leaking into the analyzed branch. I try to analyze the economic and social impacts of the crisis that influenced the Czech brewery. Above all I deal with the questions how the crisis influenced the production, consumption and the prices of brewing products, followed by structure of the branch. The thesis should answer the question what the strategy of the brew-houses in the period of economic crisis was and to what degree state interferences and anti-crisis measures influenced them.
