Chromospheric waves and their contribution to heating of the atmosphere
Abbasvand Azar, Vahid ; Sobotka, Michal (advisor) ; Jelínek, Petr (referee) ; Stangalini, Marco (referee)
Acoustic and magnetoacoustic waves play an important role in the chromospheric heating, exhibiting the capability of depositing a main part of their energy in the chromosphere. To study the heating of solar chromospheric magnetic and non-magnetic regions by acoustic and magnetoacoustic waves, the deposited acoustic-energy flux, derived from observations of strong chromospheric lines (H-alpha, H-beta, Ca II 854.2 nm, and MgII k&h), is compared with the total integrated radiative losses. A set of quiet-Sun and weak-plage regions was observed with the Interface Region Imaging Spectrograph (IRIS), Vacuum Tower Telescope (VTT), Dunn Solar Telescope (DST) and Goode Solar Telescope (GST). The deposited acoustic-energy flux is derived from Doppler velocities observed at two different reference heights corresponding to the middle and upper chromosphere. A set of scaled non-LTE 1D hydrostatic semi-empirical models, obtained by fitting synthetic to observed line profiles, is applied to compute the radiative losses. In the quiet chromosphere, the deposited acoustic flux is sufficient to balance the radiative losses and maintain the semi-empirical temperatures in layers between the two reference heights. In the magnetic active-region chromosphere, the comparison shows that the contribution of magnetoacoustic...
Legal aspects of gold mining and its influence on the environment
Sladkovská, Leona ; Humlíčková, Petra (advisor) ; Sobotka, Michal (referee)
The aim of the diploma thesis is the description and analysis of legal aspects of gold mining. The thesis is divided into 7 chapters including the introduction and the conclusion. The second chapter provides the elementary overview of the characteristics of gold, its extraction and gold ore processing methods. The third chapter deals with the sources of legal regulation of mining and reminds the historical development of this legal branch. The fourth chapter is in detail concerned with individual phases of the reserved minerals mining. The fifth chapter introduces the main impacts of gold mining and mineral raw material extraction respectively on the environment and people. The sixth chapter analyzes basic legal instruments of environmental protection exercised in mining, focuses on their application and deals with their suitability. The conclusion of this thesis is focused on evaluation of topics discussed in previous chapters, primarily summarizes particular aspects of gold mining and problematics of legal regulation of mining and environmental protection used in this field. Delictual liability of natural persons within environmental protection
Žejšková, Pavlína ; Stejskal, Vojtěch (advisor) ; Sobotka, Michal (referee)
Delictual liability of natural persons in the environmental protection I have chosen the subject delictual liability of natural persons in environmental protection for topic of my Master's degree thesis. The first reason why I have opted for this subject is due to the fact the environment is present everywhere and is a resource that needs to be protected as it is necessary to the human kind to survive. The law is one of the most powerful tools that can help protecting the environment. The second reason is that it does allow me to link several other law areas of interest which are administrative, criminal and environmental. The thesis contains three main parts. The first one is mainly dedicated to the legal liability while focusing on the responsibility in the environmental law. Also are mentioned the fundamental principles of the delictual liability in the Constitution. The second part relate to the criminal liability of natural persons in the environmental protection, starting from the basics of the international and European Union law. Further to this I have reviewed the past history in the Czech Republic, with supporting dated examples, showing how effectively the environment has been preserved by the criminal law. I have continued with a review of the current situation of how the environment is being...
Legal Protection of the Environment and the Human Health against the Effects of Selected Physical Factors
Pokorná, Lucie ; Damohorský, Milan (advisor) ; Sobotka, Michal (referee) ; Smolek, Martin (referee)
This thesis is focused on the legal protection of the environment and human health from the effects of selected physical factors, especially noise, vibration and ionizing and non- ionizing radiation. In the introduction the thesis defines the every singe physical factor, reminds their effects on the environment and the health and life of humans and especially suggests possible measures to eliminate the negative effects of these factors. The emphasis is placed on clarifying the consistency of these measures with the means of protection. Subsequently, the thesis includes separate chapters devoted to European, Czech and selected international legal instruments of protection from selected physical factors and their comparison. One of the key questions to be dealt in the thesis is the effort to clarify whether and how does the legislation in different countries exploit physical similarity between the studied factors. Another question to answer is to what extent is it (for the effective protection of the environment, life, health and other values) useful to accurately identify and name the sources of threat, and whether the case-focused legal protection, anchoring extensively detailed rules for each previously known source of threat, actually leads to more efficient protection against various sources of risk. It...
Groundwater protection legislation
Rybka, Jakub ; Sobotka, Michal (advisor) ; Franková, Martina (referee)
Groundwater Protection Legislation The theme of this thesis is the issue of legislation of protection of groundwater in the context of Czech and European legislation. At the outset, this work deals with the historical development of the legislation concerning the protection of waters in the Czech Republic and the legal nature of water to which they relate and adjustment of their property. The main emphasis of this work is put on administrative-legal, conceptual and economic tools for protecting groundwater and deals also with the Water Framework Directive, which is the main regulation of the European Union in this area. Also presented are the main changes proposed by the amendment to the Water Act. This study thus provides an overview of current legislation on protection of groundwater, its evaluation and is concluded with author's forecast for world development in this area in the 21st century.
