Sacred music in Catholic church choirs in Prague during the 1948-1989 cultural oppression
Stejskal, Zdeněk ; Slavický, Tomáš (referee) ; Novák, Vladimír (referee)
This thesis deals with the history of church music in catholic churches in Prague between 1948- 1989. Church music is viewed as a form of performing art, which is performed during a catholic liturgy. Thus, this music has its specific purpose, since it is almost always produced and perceived during church services. Having this specific function, the church music had been many times in its history influenced by changes of a role of music in the liturgy, as well as by changes in music and musical world. The development of the church music had reflected the relationship between the Catholic Church and liturgy. Simultaneously, in a certain extent the development of church music also reflected relationship between a government and the Catholic Church. These mutual relationships occurred during whole history of church music. In certain historical periods these relationships had been more pronounced, e.g. during a decline of literary confraternities, in the course of development and decline of the orchestral church music, in the Cecillian reform movement, and after the Second Vatican council. The goal of this thesis was to describe the influence of mentioned relationships between music, Catholic Church, and government on the church music performed in churches in Prague during period 1948-1989. The pieces of the church musical collection from the town Smečno for not liturgic Czech and Latin texts in 18th century
Procházka, Karel ; Kapsa, Václav (referee) ; Slavický, Tomáš (advisor)
The aim of this diploma work is to introduce the forgotten developed music culture of the town of Smečno of 18 th century. The study concerns the music collection of the Holy Trinity Church in Smečno and it is focused on non-liturgical compositions from 18 th century. The results are divided into three parts: the first one considers the origin of the collection in the historical context of the region around the town of Kladno, the town of Smečno and the Holy Trinity Church. The second one deals with the music collection alone - its content, author's profile, period changes, exceptional pieces of music, the work of František Mensi ( the chaplain and priest of Smečno) and the analysis of selected compositions. The third part describes current events of the choir loft of the church in Smečno. For example, the revival of premieres of the Smečno choir loft music or the Smečno Organ Festival played on the oldest organ in Central Europe dating back to 1587.
Prague's cyrilists and their relation to Regensburger cecilianism. Notices to the correspondence of Prague's cyrilists to F. X. Witt
Beránková, Anna ; Gabrielová, Jarmila (referee) ; Slavický, Tomáš (advisor)
The objective of this work is to describe the situation and course of events in the field of Catholic liturgical music in Bohemia and, in particular, in Prague in the 1870s and 1880s. These twenty years are only a part of a larger timeframe, often called the Caecilian Movement, in connection with a church music reform which touched all of Central Europe. Especially in the 1870s, the Czech lands had a close connection with Bavarian Regensburg, being the centre and model of reform efforts for the whole of Central Europe. In addition to collaborations of Prague and Regensburg reformers, vivid correspondence connections were established between them. And namely the letters of the Prague so-called "Cyrillists" addressed to the leading mover of the reform in Regensburg - Franz Xaver Witt - are the main source for this work. These letters, which had been unknown in our country until now, can be found in the Central Bishop Library in Regensburg, together with a twinvolume catalogue containing a detailed list of the letters. Based on these letters, this work shows and comments in more detail the already known data about the respective time period. This work also contains a full wording of the letters from selected correspondence partners of F. X. Witt, together with an index of persons, mentioned herein.
Vocal Motets of Otto Albert Tichý. The Latin Liturgical Compositions for a capella Choirs
Powered by TCPDF (www.tcpdf.org)
Powered by TCPDF (www.tcpdf.org)
Church Music in Jihlava and its Development with regard to the Choir of the Church of Saint Jacob
Powered by TCPDF (www.tcpdf.org)
History of the Choir of the Parish Church Saint Martin in Třebíč
Powered by TCPDF (www.tcpdf.org)
