Evaluation of trends in open education with focus on massive open online courses
Slavický, Marek ; Dvořáková, Miroslava (advisor) ; Frič, Pavol (referee)
Mass Open Online Courses have been a phenomenon in education in the past few years. Although their popularity is globaly on the rise, it is not yet clear how sustainable MOOCs really are in the long run. Lack of academic texts and non- existing set of guidelines for the design and implementation of effective and successful MOOCs is one of today's problems. The aim of this paper is to create such criteria that can assess the MOOC quality and success, and subsequently assess current MOOC approach and effectivity as well as outline steps to increase their efficacy. In the paper, I present a novel analysis method of potential MOOC efficacy indicators. Then, based on created criteria, I define the importance of lector's active role in the course, the need for clear formulation and communication of rules, goals and expectations, and the significance of setting high course standards. At the end, I suggest ways of utilizing this thesis for further research.

Virtual Team Management
Slavický, Marek ; Tureckiová, Michaela (advisor) ; Kopecký, Martin (referee)
Nowadays, virtual teams are a new and a rapidly growing phenomenon within our globalizing world. Their number and effectivity quickly increases thanks to the quality of accessible technology. From the theoretical aspect, virtual teams are just being analyzed and processed, and given the recency and constant changes, they are not yet clearly understood and interpreted. The aim of this bachelor thesis is to outline basic characteristics of virtual teams and their differences from conventional work teams and focus on the issue of virtual team management. Therefore, I will further analyze the key factors to virtual team functioning, among which we can include modern communication technologies, the issue of communication over distance and trust. I will also describe strongly dispersed virtual teams, which must deal with multiculturality and other concerns associated with distinct cultural values of individual team members. The last chapter will cover conflict resolution, which is a key point especially within the topic of virtual teams.
Mobility support in terciary education through new technologies in the EU
Slavický, Marek ; Němcová, Ingeborg (advisor) ; Cihelková, Eva (referee)
Mobility support in education is one of key, longtime targets of the EU. Apart from significant financial resources that are put into this target through various EU programmes, mobility is also supported by other means. This master's thesis focuses on describing and analyzing mobility support in terciary education in the EU in view of the newest trends in this field -- the use of ICT. The aim is to introduce and critically evaluate the current problematics of academic mobility in the EU, describe the relation and importance of physical and virtual mobility and outline possible future developments. Furthermore, the paper attempts to justify this mobility support by putting academic mobility in the context of individual and economic competitiveness, and thus find out whether virtual mobility itself can be a catalyst for competitiveness.

Slavický, Marek ; Němcová, Ingeborg (advisor) ; Procházková Ilinitchi, Cristina (referee)
In today's globalizing world high-quality research and development is becoming an even more significant requirement for a competitive country. Modern communication technologies open up new possibilities of a simpler, cheaper and more effective long-distance cooperation between researchers. The aim of this bachelor thesis is to provide insight into the current state of scientific research in the EU and determine, how the new communication technologies are used on the level of the EU and its member states. Virtuality can be understood as any type of communication mediated by computers over information networks. The first chapter presents general characteristics of scientific research and shows how virtuality influences it. The second chapter describes the development of scientific research, current trends, institutions and programs in the EU and analyses the application of virtuality in scientific research in the EU. Similarly, the last chapter focuses on the state of virtuality and scientific research , but on the level of national states, specifically the Czech Republic.
