Sound Design and realization of full-length picture " In the Attic or Who Has a Birthday Today "

The theoretical part of my theses is focused on the analysis of full-length picture ?Na půdě aneb kdo má dneska narozeniny ? (In the Attic or Who Has a Birthday Today?) under direction of Jiří Barta. I explain at first intention of the sound dramaturgy followed by description of the process, which is taken to create particular sound elements of this audio visual work. I mention as well confrontation between the concept and the final realization. The actual realization of sound designing is described in the own chapter. My theses focus also on problems, which I encountered by mixing the movie in Dolby Digital format. All provided information is meant to be useful not only for FAMU students. Readers can follow step by step the process of sound designing by a project, which was extraordinary time-consuming and financially demanding but on the other hand indeed unique in Czech cinematography.

Sound in Czech Film Parody

In my work, I will research the characteristic features of the sound dramaturgy in Czech film parody. Besides the stylization of the story and image, sound has its own important function. The expression of sound should correspond with the style of the film.

-function of sound in Czech film parody in given periods of time
-summary of achieved knowledge

-analysis of functional resources in film parody
-sound analysis of the film according to sound components that are functional for making the parody

The Czech Lion Award In The Best Sound Category

This Bachelor´s work is a summary of the most important parts in annual awards The Czech lion. In the first part of it there are main problems about voting in The best sound kategory. This work contains opinions of members of the Czech movie and television academy. In the second part you may find brief analysies of the five chosen movies which gained the first prize and their sound element. My intension is to reveal ?backstage? of voting and to size up objectivity of the results of this competition.

The conception of film sound in the work of Robert Bresson

Robert Bresson was a significant person of French cinema. In his long life he has made fourteen films. The theme of this thesis is the conception of sound in his films. This work consists of five parts. First part is a general introduction and thinking about the body of artist's works. Second part consists of a few words about Bresson's live and dramaturgical elements, which he use in his films. Third part consists of Bresson's ?Notes of cinematographe?, which he has written during his life and of a selection of them concerning mainly the sound. Fourth part is about analysis of all Bresson's films in terms of the use of sound and sound dramaturgy and compared his theory with practice. The last part is generalizing conclusion about the use of sound in Bresson's work.
