The occurrence of dental hard tissue erosive defects in children of preschool and young school age

Aim: The basic knowledge of errosive hard dental tissue defects occurring in children of school age and younger evaluation was summarised. Then the evaluation of children in nursery schools have been made including one clinical case report. Introduction: Erosive defect is caused by the loss of hard dental tissue and may be potentiated by mechanical effects. Acid may be of endogenous origin as gastroesophageal reflux and regurgitation or they can be caused by exogenous income, food and beverages, rarely as professional dental damage in chemical operations. Controls and method: Followed group was consisted of preschool aged children with temporary teeth. The detailed history was obtained from the parents and it has been targeted mainly to the eating habits of children. The examination of children was concentrated to the existence and the incidence of errosive of TZT. Results: Erosive defects were found in 35 % investigated children. In most cases defects were sited at the occlusal surface on temporary molars. The consumption several times a week of at least two particular foods is common. The case report of 5 years old boy shows the teeth with erosion at all temporary molars and demonstrates the evaluation of the nutritional protocol. Comparison of Knowledge in the Field of Oral Health among Students at the 3rd Faculty of Medicine, Charles University

The aim: The aim of this Bachelor's thesis is to compare knowledge in the field of oral health among students at the 3rd faculty of medicine, Charles University and find out if the future healthcare professional is interested in this topic. Introduction: The issue of oral health should be a part of a basic education of every person, because healthy mouth is necessary for overall health and the quality of life. Material and methodology: I got the oral health knowledge using the questionnaire method. The questionnaire was posted on Facebook and then sent by our study division. I got 648 responses, 398 was from the subject General Medicine, 121 was from the subject General Nurse, 54 was from the subject Dental Hygienist, 38 was from the subject Public Health and 37 was from the subject Physiotherapy. The results were compared among all students and then with a group of 30 students of the 3rd year of subject general nurse which finished a subject about nursing in dentistry. Results: I found out that students at the 3rd faculty of medicine UK are not informed enough about oral health even after finishing the subject about nursing in dentistry. VLIV KONZUMACE VYBRANÝCH NÁPOJŮ NA PH SLINY Soňa ULIČNÁ Školitel: MDDr. Diana Sádovská Stomatologická klinika, 3.LF UK v Praze Úvod: Slina je tekutina nacházející se v dutině ústní. Je sem vylučována ze slinných žláz. Zvlhčuje všechny povrchy v dutině ústní, zajišťuje jejich omývání, je důležitá pro vnímání chuti a tvorbu sousta, díky pufrační funkci je schopná vyrovnávat kyseliny. V neposlední řadě je důležité, že slina je zdrojem iontů potřebných při remineralizaci, má i antibakteriální funkci a ze složek sliny se vytváří na povrchu zubů pelikula. Slina má tedy v dutině ústní vliv na spoustu biologických pochodů a při jejím nedostatku vznikají četné patologie. Cíl: Cílem práce bylo zjistit, jak káva nebo čaj mění pH sliny a jak se na této změně projeví ochucení těchto nápojů. Zjišťovala jsem také, který z vybraných nápojů je nejvhodnější a který naopak nejvíce snižuje pH a mohl by být nejvíce kariogenní. Soubor a metodika: Byla zjišťována změna pH sliny po konzumaci černé kávy, kávy s cukrem, kávy s mlékem, kávy s mlékem a cukrem, ovocného čaje, ovocného čaje s cukrem a ovocného čaje s cukrem a citronem. Education and professional autonomy of dental hygienists in the Czech Republic and abroad

This bachelor thesis is dedicated to questions of dental hygienists' education and professional autonomy in the Czech Republic and abroad. The analyse of legal regulations, entry level education and educational programs in dental hygiene in the Czech Republic, the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, the United States of America, the Slovak Republic is present in this work. A part of the thesis is also analyse of professional autonomy of mid-level healthcare specialists and specifically dental hygienists. Purpose: The purpose of this research was to examine attitudes of Czech dentists and dental hygienists towards questions of dental hygienists' professional autonomy and education in the Czech Republic, the goal was also to discover the level of professional autonomy of Czech dental hygienists.
