Possibilities of use of new bathymetry method of water reservoirs
Kundratová, Františka ; Roub, Radek (advisor) ; Hradilek, Václav (referee)
It is essential to measure water depths of rivers, water reservoirs, ponds and lakes from various reasons like hydrologic modeling, monitoring of biotopes, monitoring of sediments or archeologic researches. Hence, the bathymetry techniques for measurements of shallow waters are still evolving. The goal is to find the best method allowing fast and economic mapping of large-scale areas and providing high-resolution data. Currently, the most common method in Czech Republic is probably depth measurement by an ADCP devices, which is a very accurate method, but still time-consuming. On the other hand, airborne laser scanning with wavelength of 532 nm (green laser pulse) has a great potential for shallow water mapping. This work is focused on the possibilities of use of the airborne laser scanning for bathymetry of rivers and water reservoirs in conditions typical for Czech Republic. The methods of obtaining the bathymetric data are discussed in theoretical part, as well as principles of its operation. In the practical part, two study areas (a part of Vltava river and a Hracholusky dam) were scanned using the laser scanner Riegl VQ-880- G. Digital terrain model (DEM) was created from acquired data of the two study areas. After that the DEMs were compared with DEMs which were created from sonar data. The results of comparison are presented. The aim of this work is to assess the ability of airborne laser bathymetry in conditions typical for Czech Republic and verify the accuracy of this method. This method saves time and economic costs and it has great potential to be usable for future research.

The next, the thesis also discusses the modeling of steady flow of flood flows and modeling flood lines in the area of interest. For the simulation are used ArcGIS 10.2 with overlaid of GeoRAS, HEC-RAS 4.1.0 and the description of creating a model for the assembly are used the digital elevation model fifth-generation, transverse profiles of stream, longitudinal profile of stream and roughness of stream and inundation and geometry of objects on the stream. The outcome of this work are maps of inundation in selected sections on the stream, in particular in areas with existing buildings.
Evaluation of runoff conditions in the catchment area of the Jeptiška stream
Satrapová, Barbora ; Roub, Radek (advisor) ; Pavlíčková, Lenka (referee)
My final thesis are focused on the field of flood protection and hydrodynamical modelling for the drainage area of the Jeptiška creek. The aim of my work is the evaluation of the status of the part of the watercourse (Jeptiška Creek between river km 0,0-2,5), the evaluation how hydraulic structures influence the streem and the analysis of foodplain areas for the selected floods. Floodplain areas and flood hazard areas are, as result of former steps, determined in Městec Králové. The hydrodynamical model (using HEC-RAS model application) is compiled, flood plain areas are docomented using GIS.
Water management study on Smědá river
Vysušil, Miroslav ; Roub, Radek (advisor) ; Marie, Marie (referee)
The fundamentals of flood danger formulation is defining space classification of flood characteristics, e.g. overflow borders and water depths in flood plains and subsequent analysis of these data in the form of so called maps of flood danger. The diploma thesis deals with characteristics of a selected part of Smědá river and with simulation of flood flows in order to create a map of flood risks which could be used as a possible design of flood precautions and protection of urban areas. The thesis is divided into two parts. The first part explains the terms of flood, types of floods, objects on the flow, degrees of flood activity, management of protection against floods in the Czech Republic, types of flood precautions, outline of models of flows in open watercourses and metodology of preparation of flood maps. The second part concerns the mentioned river. After a brief introduction of the river, the paper gives a detailed description of water management buildings and respective simulation of flood flows and flood lines in the area concerned.
The Simulation of Flood Wave after Dam Failure on Bílá Desná
Fólová, Zuzana ; Roub, Radek (advisor) ; Bureš, Luděk (referee)
The thesis deals with a creation of a model that imitates a flood wave and determining the flooded area after the rupture of the earth dam situated on the water flow Bílá Desná in The Liberec Region. It is not only a fictitious demonstration, but the actual application of a real flow wave caused by the destruction of the hydraulic dam from 1916 till the present state of the territory. The used input data were obtained from the ČÚZK and the terrain measurements. These data were processed in several programs, namely: HEC-GeoRAS and HEC-RAS. From the results of the model was determined the flooded area during peak flow and a model that portrays the development of the flood wave on the designed flow section. The results of this study enable to sketch the event which could occur if the rupture of the hydraulic dam did not occur in the 1916, but nowadays.
Revitalization of small water reservoir in cadastral Nežichov

Flood control measures and floods in the Svrčovec village the Úhlava watercourse
Mach, Tomáš ; Roub, Radek (advisor) ; Reil, Adam (referee)
This thesis deals with the issue of flood and flood-protection measures from the perspective of map development describing the dangers and risks of flooding. This thesis focuses on the sector of flood-protection prevention and measures related to flooding protection. Basic terminology related to this sector has been explained as well as the use of hydrodynamic models in specific locations. The thesis includes the charting, description and assessment of flood-protection measures in the municipality of Svrcovec by using a specific computer model as well as experience from the 2002 floods. Another part of the thesis includes the characteristics and charting of 4th order flooding in the location in question due to its disposition to dangerous surface runoff (overland flow) at times of extreme torrential rain. A fundamental aim of this thesis is an analysis of damages to property in the year 2002 in comparison to the potential damages and costs of the construction of the above-described measures. This section assesses the affectivity of the construction of the above-described measures. My personal opinion of any other options in the protection from floods is found in the conclusion of the thesis.

Determination of floodplains and hydrotechnical assessment of Říčanský water flow
Bezděková, Veronika ; Roub, Radek (advisor) ; Marie, Marie (referee)
This thesis deals with determining the flood lines and hydrotechnical assessment of the Říčanský water flow and objects that interfere with the flow profile. Hydrotechnical assessment preceding hydrological study of catchment. The basis for this work was digital model relief Czech Republic, which obtained from Airborne Laser Scanning. This method is considered to be of the most accurate methods for altimetry data obtained, but the near-infrared laser beam used in this method cannot penetrate water masses. The result of this problem is error as the extracted cross sections lose a significant portion of their flow area. These errors can be removed to recess the channel using specialized software Crosolver tool. For hydrotechnical assessment is used hydrodynamic model in HEC-RAS. On the basis of results are determined the flood line for N-years flows (5-years flow, 20-years flow and 100-years flow). The final part of this work deals evaluation of hydrotechnical assessment Říčanský water flow, object and floodplains.
