Amalysis of migration flows in Sub-Saharan Africa in 2019
Petřek, Martin ; Hasman, Jiří (advisor) ; Pavelková, Lenka (referee)
Analysis of Migration Flows in Sub-Saharan Africa in 2019 Abstract The aim of this thesis will be the analysis of migration flows in sub-Saharan Africa in 2019. Based on the research, we can state what factors most influence spatial migration in sub- Saharan Africa. The basic factors are determined based on the study of the literature and are clearly divided into cultural, political, socio-economic and geographical factors. Fifty-four of the most intensive migration flows in this region are subsequently analyzed. Based on the characteristics of the source and destination countries, we will get an answer to the questions of which factors influence migration flows the most and which influence them the least. The result is a confirmation of the importance of mainly cultural and geographical factors, for example a common religion, an official language or common borders and distance. A smaller influence was shown for socio-economic and political factors, especially for the degree of freedom or the poverty index and the smallest influence for common historical ties. Keywords: destination country, migration flows, migration geography, source country
DEVELOPMENT OF IMMIGRATION POLICY AND IMMIGRATION IN AUSTRALIA
Žáková, Samantha ; Janská, Eva (advisor) ; Pavelková, Lenka (referee)
The main aim of the thesis is to describe the development of immigration policy and immigration in Australia since the first colonization of the country up to the present. Individual waves since 1778 are analyzed, i.e. from the colonization of British settlers and immigration associated with gold rush to non-British immigration after the World War II. The work describes the shift from discriminatory White Australia policy which was abandoned mainly after Migration Act 1958 to multicultural policy. There were two different approaches to multiculturalism: assimilation of immigrants during the 1950s and their integration in the 1960s. Gaugh Whitlam government finally abolished the White Australia policy in 1973 replacing both previous positions with multicultural policy. Governments of prime ministers and changes of their approaches to multicultural policies since 1970s up to the present are discussed. Current migration and humanitarian program as well as special Department of Immigration and visa system are also part of this work.
Porovnání metod pro odhad omezených veličin s aplikací na ekonomická data
Musil, Karel ; Pavelková, Lenka (advisor) ; Hlávka, Zdeněk (referee)
The thesis introduces an overview of techniques for filtering of unobserved variables using a state-space representation of a model and state inequality constraints. It is mainly aimed at a derivation of the linear Kalman filter, its extension into a form of a non-linear filter and imposing state constraints. The state uniform model with noise bounds and the sequential importance sampling, as a method of particle filters using Monte Carlo simulations, are described as alternative methods. These three methods are applied on a simple semi-structural model for a monetary policy analysis. The filtration is based on Czech macroeconomic data and reflects an imposed non-negative state constraint on the interest rate. Results of the algorithms are compared and discussed.
Migration from Ukraine to Czechia after 1991
Mjartan, Zdeněk ; Pavelková, Lenka (advisor) ; Čermák, Zdeněk (referee)
Migration from Ukraine to Czechia from 1991 Abstract The aim of this bachelor thesis is the analysis of Ukrainian migration to Czechia after the separation of Ukraine from the USSR in 1991. The main indicators used here are the evolution of quantity of immigrated Ukrainians, total number of Ukrainians living in Czechia, the scheme of population percentage according to age, gender, etc. These trends are monitored on 25-years basis, dates from years 1991 to 2015. The first part of thesis explains general migration types a theories of migration. These theories, that are explained, were chosen according to their possible use for describing this specific Ukrainian migration to Czechia. This part is completed with general overview of main migration theories. The second part covers political, sociodemographic and economical characteristics of Ukraine. The third part is focused on the migration politics of Czechia between years 1991 and 2015, especially how the legislative framework affected the migration rate to Czechia. The fourth part shows how the migration from Ukraine looked like from the beginning of the 20th century to 1989. The main indicators used here are the origin of migrants, the destination of migration, and the time evolution of migration. Crucial part of the thesis is the fifth part, which is...
Approximate Bayesian state estimation and output prediction using state-space model with uniform noise
Lainová, Eva ; Kuklišová Pavelková, Lenka ; Jirsa, Ladislav
This paper contributes to the problem of approximate Bayesian state estimation and output prediction using state space model with uniformly distributed noise. Algorithms for Bayesian filtering and output prediction for states uniformly distributed on an orthotopic support and Bayesian filtering and output prediction for states uniformly distributed on a parallelotopic support are presented and compared.
Geography of recent migration wave - from where, where to and why do refugees come?
Procházka, Ondřej ; Hasman, Jiří (advisor) ; Pavelková, Lenka (referee)
Geography of recent migration wave - from where, where to and why do refugees come? Abstract This bachelor thesis aims to find out what factors affect refugees when selecting an asylum destination country during the recent refugee and migrant wave. Potentially important factors are first selected on the basis of literature studies, and consequently their significance is quantitatively tested on the most important refugee flows. For clarity, individual factors are divided into four groups: cultural, economic, geographical and political factors. The analyzed set consists of paired data for the 20 most important source countries from different world regions and 31 destination countries that are members of the European Union, or the European Free Trade Association. The results confirmed the importance of colonial ties and of the same language, but some policy factors, such as social benefits in destination country, have also been shown to be important. The impact of economic factors was not confirmed as expected, but it was found neither for geographic factors, nor for migrant networks. Keywords: asylum destination choice; asylum seekers; international migration; refugee and migrant wave; refugees

Migration and integration in Czech education system
Štolcová, Kristýna ; Pavelková, Lenka (advisor) ; Janská, Eva (referee)
This bachelor thesis deals with current programmes of integration of migrant children into Czech schools. It examines which programmes are available and who publishes them. The thesis analyses ways of migrant children's integration into kindergartens and elementary schools. Second part of the thesis contains examination of School education programmes in 35 elementary schools and 35 Gymnasiums. The main focus is on number of geography lessons in each grade, followed by comparing the placement of migration topic in a specific grade. History of migration in the Czech Republic and evaluation of current situation is also a part of this thesis. The thesis is based on the study of available materials and the subsequent data synthesis. Another information source was a questionnaire distributed into the schools. Unfortunately the number of responses was not high enough therefore the results are used as a complementary information only. This thesis can work as a basic material for orientation in migrant children's integration issues and as a view into the geography lesson's syllabi. Key words: Migration, integration, education, school education program, migrant children's
