Processing and utilization of by-products of brewery operations for energy purposes
Foltis, Marek ; Malaťák, Jan (advisor) ; Bradna, Jiří (referee)
The diploma thesis called Processing and using of co-products from brewery for energetic purposes. The thesis concerns it self with analysis current situation on field of processing waste from brewery industry. The thesis is focused on possibility of using brewery waste for energetic purposes. The thesis is divided in to two parts. First part features literature research of the topic, using all available resources. Second part features real data from element analysis done on samples of brewery waste and calculation of main characteristics of brewery waste. All calculations concerns them self in using brewery waste like substitution for fossil fuel. Goal of second part of thesis also is evaluate possibility of using brewery waste to make brewing more efficient.
Proposal to upgrade the wastewater treatment technology in the selected Wastewater Treatment Plant
Líkař, Vladislav ; Vaculík, Petr (advisor) ; Malaťák, Jan (referee)
This thesis deals with the issue of waste water treatments from small sources of pollution. At the beginnig, there are characterized wastewater and important indicators for measuring the concentration of pollution, then this thesis describes the different technologies and technological equipment used in the treatment of wastewater from small sources. In the practical part of the work is designed to upgrade the technological part for processing waste water for area businesses METRO NITRA. The first part describes curent conditions of selected wastewater treatment plant. Next part describes in detail the proposed technological part and evaluation samplings. Later in this chapter is described the economic value and the expected schedule of work. The aim is to design WWTP upgrade with the technical and the economic assessment.
Optimizing controller settings in terms of quality of work gasoline engines E85
Kotek, Tomáš ; Pexa, Martin (advisor) ; Malaťák, Jan (referee)
The work deals with optimizing the operation of spark ignition internal combustion engine on fuel E85. The theoretical part is devoted to the issue of biofuels in terms of production, distribution and use in internal combustion engines. The experimental part is devoted to the design and verification of the additional control unit (ADU) which solves the optimisation of operation unmodified engine on E85. The first part of the experiment is dedicated to the design and construction of ADU with aim to faultless operation of the engine on E85. The second part of the experiment was devoted to optimisation of engine operation in terms of fuel consumption using dynamic changes of the injectors opening time. Part of the experiments was an evaluation of emissions production and impact on the performance parameters of the engine. The final part of the experiment evaluates the achieved results at the various settings strategy of ADU and compares them with results during engine operation on prescribed fuel N95. By the dynamic change of the injector opening time were reached decrease in fuel consumption by about 5%, reduction in CO production by around 70%, approximately fourfold increase in the production of NOx emissions and about 50% decrease in production of particulate matters.

Organic wastes represent available replacement for crops grown specifically for biofuel production. However, the combustion of solid biofuels is often accompanied by technical problems. Biofuels made of organic wastes require the source of which do not contain hazardous substances that could be their combustion in simple combustion sources came into the atmosphere as emissions. This thesis is focused on the assessment of technical and operational parameters of small combustion plants while burning biofuels and also of the measurement of emission concentrations of CO and NOX in the flue gas and its subsequent analysis. Samples were selected as solid fuel in the form of a lump, briquettes and pellets made from advanced materials. Incineration was realized in the fireplace with a grate furnace and automatic stove. The bark briquettes could appears to be a suitable substitution for coal or wooden briquettes, and during combustion in grate emission concentrations of CO were achieved with a value of 560.8 +/- 98.9 mg.m-3,on the contrary NOX levels were relatively high 1 193.6 +/- 141.7 mg.m-3. In case of this work, when using the furnace the briquettes were made from compost , whose emission levels are higher: CO 1 487.8 +/- 418.8 mg.m-3, NOx levels were somewhat lower 330.8 +/- 26.3 mg.m-3 than the briquettes bark. An experimental sample of sewage sludge, which has been modified by hydrothermal carbonisation, was burned on the grate furnace and the measured emission levels for CO 1 493.3 +/- 237.3 mg.m-3 and NOX levels 544.8 +/- 20.2 mg.m-3, positive because it was achieved the rated output of the combustion equipment and the heat of combustion of the sample is very low 12.61 MJ.kg-1. The most efficient combustion of 80.8 +/- 2,7 % was achieved using automatic stove, during burning waste wood pellets certificate ENplus A1, the very low levels of emission and a very low emission levels for CO with a value of 117.5 +/- 14.4 mg.m-3 and values NOX 110.3 +/- 2.9 mg.m-3 were measured. Following experiments on this device were intended to increase the efficiency of a combustion plant by installing a hot-air heat exchanger and preheating combustion air. Method with preheating combustion air caused an increase in the emission concentration of CO.
Sorting of Waste and its Subsequent Recycling in the Chosen Company
Čiperová, Simona ; Smejtková, Andrea (advisor) ; Malaťák, Jan (referee)
The aim of the bacelor´s work is to put together information about recycling and municipal waste sorting. The thesis deals with municipal waste sorting according to particular commodity. It is also includes different methods of waste managment. First is material recovery, it means to obtain the secondary raw material. The other part of thesis is about the ways of different materials recycling. There is a characterization of a factory with long time recycling experience.
Heat-emission characteristics of the energy compost for small combustion plants
Bučinský, Václav ; Malaťák, Jan (advisor) ; Bradna, Jiří (referee)
The aim of this thesis is to get acquainted with the problems of biological and energetic use of compost. Emphasis is placed on the technology and features of the energy compost, which is intended for combustion, gasification or pyrolysis. The work presents characteristic properties and composition of solid biofuels. There are characterized pollutants, including hazardous properties. There are also mentioned legislative conditions, particularly in the area of emission limits and fuel quality in terms of air protection. Further, a description of the main design features of a small grate combustion plants. The second part of the thesis contains a comprehensive analysis (elemental, stoichiometric, heat emission and economic) of selected samples of solid biofuels. Based on the analysis, the samples were evaluated and assessed whether they comply with emission standards and fuel quality requirements in terms of legislation. Analyzed fuels have been characterized and it has been proposed the use of appropriate energy for small combustion facilities.
Proposal for a technological line for production pellets from biomass
Holub, Ondřej ; Malaťák, Jan (advisor) ; Bradna, Jiří (referee)
The aim of this thesis is to introduce the proposal of the technological line (from the initial intake of the essential raw material to the final product) for the production of pellets from biomass. For better understanding, this work presents the characteristics of various types of biomass and its most common use in everyday life with the focus on specific kinds of pellets (standards, certificates, protective marks both Czech and foreign). Further it informs about the issue of classification, quality frameworks and specification of solid biomass for energy purposes and characteristics associated with the legislation, technologies, techniques and legislative conditions of use of waste biomass. It also compares the different types of pellet samples in the relation to the most important aspects (contents of substances, ash, calorific value etc.) and in what price range they appear in our market. Subsequently, on this basis, the assessment of the technical and economic aspects of the proposed solutions is carried out and the major physical chemical features of biomass are described.
