Šefl, Jan ; Bělovský, Michal (referee) ; Májek, Jan (advisor) ; Bantová, Sylva (advisor)
The topic of the thesis is a design and a construction solution of a residential building on the Roubalova street in Brno. The house is located in a residential area characterized by solitary structures, especially from the beginning of the last century. In the surrounding area there are villas of famous architects such as Bohuslav Fuchs, Jindrich Kumpošt and others. I tried to incorporate the building with its simple form to which I added protruding cubes, typical for the area. The shape itself is determined by the shape of the plot and the terrain profile. The facade is made of stone slabs that reflect the magnificence of the surrounding area. The whole mass is lightened by very subtle thin-walled steel bay windows, each apartment consists of at least one. The house is designed as a four-story building, with three duplex apartments. Parking is provided in the underground floor, with six parking spaces and storage space for each apartment.

This concept densely built low-rise residential files yet carries a strong potential not only in matters of mere living, but also offers one of the progressive alternative ways of living environment in general. Examined form of residential buildings is becoming increasingly important especially in specific situations where conventional housing is failing and instead generates other social problems. The acquired knowledge was then subjected to an in-depth analysis, the output of which is to be the most comprehensive characterization researched the topic and its inclusion in the context of the standard forms of housing. The result is a set of research information, assumptions and typological bases that determine the primary urban, architectural, or social limits of the residential category. This work attempts to take into account the specified topic in the broader context of housing as a basic human need. As a result of findings would be its contribution to the culture scene in our home and create a theoretical material that would become an essential information base for creating compact residential files. The conclusions of this research can be further developed, tested and refined in the educational process at the faculties of architecture or in the practice. The results of research could stimulate interest in this type of housing and contribute to the enrichment of Czech housing scene of a synthetic form, which will form the connecting link between the typological family house and an apartment building. Low-rise housing complexes with a high population density can also create an effective counterbalance to the typical suburban development of part-time family home and offer method, respectively one of the alternative ways to be with this dilapidated urban housing estate deal.
Jaroslavice – place in the landscape
Májek, Jan ; Veselá, Markéta (referee) ; Foretník, Jan (advisor)
The work is aimed at the center of the village, which is a square that, in size comparable to that of the Square of Freedom in Brno, is an exhibition of problems: considerable deterioration of the building fund, underground use of the public space, which is moreover unreadable and unreachable. The proposed solution divides the area of the square into three smaller public spaces that have a different character and function. Mariánské námětí is the torso of the existing one, which has been earmarked for the building of a new municipal office and library, is characterized by town houses and the location of services and public amenities. The second area is a semi-detached cottage. It is dominated by walnuts and water. The proposed buildings are oriented towards the library and the wine house. The third such defined area is the Wine Market, which is the crossroads, the scattered area of the surrounding houses, like a school, shops, or wine house. A large part of the COOP building has a sports complex with a halo and a swimming pool. There are solved especially the buildings of the town hall with a library and a wine house.
Kindergarten in Brno
Gladiš, Filip ; Sátora,, Josef (referee) ; Májek, Jan (advisor) ; Brzoň, Roman (advisor)
The bachelor thesis focuses on the design of a kindergarten at Údolní street, near the public park Obilní trh in Brno-centre. The aim of this project is to create a new architectural and urban concept, that will benefit the surrounding areas. The building itself has one floor and a green roof which is accessible from the terrain. The entering space reacts to a path connecting the public park with the Špilberk castle. The kindergarten has its own garden for outdoor activities of its children. In the close neighbourhood, you can find an educational institution The Open Garden, The Czech Environmental Partnership Foundation. The concept tries to take the preschool education from an environmental point of view and aims to connect the children with nature and natural materials. For those reasons, a special window type was designed, one that children can play in. They are pulled from the form and therefore create an expression of the whole building. Along with a wooden facade, the building looks playfully and light. The wooden planks rise up a meter above the roof creating a railing of the green roof. The building is designed as a public educational institution for preschool children. There are two separate departments with the capacity of 48 children. The sleeping takes place in the playrooms, there is also a dinning room, locker room, office, kitchen for preparing the meals, and the necessary facilities. The shape of the building creates a barrier between the public space and the private garden of the kindergarten.

Naništa, Jakub ; Obrtlík,, Jan (referee) ; Májek, Jan (advisor) ; Müller, Jan (advisor)
The subject of the bachelor thesis is the design of a two-departments kindergarten. The subjected plot is located in city quarter Stránice, in vicinity of Náměstí Míru and park Kraví hora and is a part of garden of Cyrilometodějské gymnasium. There is free, undeveloped area of aproximately 30 x 50 m, that was chosen for the building of kindergarten. The proposal uses a possibility of entrance from street Havlíčkova, thanks to which kindergarten is a independent unit, separated from the rest of the gymnasium. By placing the departments into the lower level a direct connection between departments and garden with a resting zone separated from the street has been created. The expression of the building is attempting to react to the surrounding architecture, that is mainly created by buildings in architectural style of functionalism. In point of view from the street, building looks as a low horizontal mass with an entrance in a deep niche and a middle, cantileverd part of roof.
