Negative impact of renewable energy sources
Kleinová, Martina ; Lachman, Jakub (referee) ; Sitek, Tomáš (advisor)
The main focus of this work was to delve deeper into the issue of renewable energy. Firstly, we have looked at the different types in general and their characteristics, but in particular we have focused on the negative impacts they bring. Since renewable energy sources are our future, it is necessary to become familiar with their potential, possible shortcomings, the degree of severity of these problems and possible solutions. In the last part of the thesis, we looked at the use of renewables in the Czech Republic and evaluated the current policy and energy market.
Possibilities of using biomass for home heating
Jurák, Matúš ; Linda, Jakub (referee) ; Lachman, Jakub (advisor)
This bachelor thesis deals with pellets and agropellets and their combustion, where main attention is given to emissions and their efficiency. Thesis consists of two parts. First part is theoretical, which consists of shown types of biomass, their properties and emissions created during combustion. The second part is experimental and its task is to compare efficiency and emissions created during combustion
Design of heat pump
Daxner, Ján ; Lachman, Jakub (referee) ; Toman, Filip (advisor)
The aim of this thesis is to design the main components of the heat pump on the basis of specified parameters. The first theoretical part is an introduction to the problem of heat pumps. It describes types of heat pumps, energy sources and their advantages and disadvantages. In the second calculation part, the calculation was performed according to the entered parameters on the basis of which the heat pump components were suitably selected.
Off-grid houses
Sedlák, Šimon ; Lachman, Jakub (referee) ; Baláš, Marek (advisor)
This bachelor thesis deals with energy efficient homes and the use of technologies leading to reduced reliance on utilities. The practical part describes the renovation of a single-family house into a hybrid house that uses available technologies to reduce dependence on utilities.
Waste Gasification
Sedláček, Tomáš ; Elbl, Patrik (referee) ; Lachman, Jakub (advisor)
The bachelor’s thesis deals with the topic of waste gasification. The first part includes the definition of waste with the focus on municipal solid waste, its evaluation as fuel on the basis of its contents and properties, in this case the heating value. Eventually the waste is compared with other normally used solid fuels. The second part presents and describes the thermal processes applied to waste-to-energy technologies, where the gasification is explained in more detail, its final products, the content of contaminants in these products and their removal. The next part deals with technologies used for waste gasification. The last part deals with the issue of waste gasification in the Czech republic.
Design of heating system for family house
Houzar, Filip ; Elbl, Patrik (referee) ; Lachman, Jakub (advisor)
This bachelor thesis deals with ways of family house heating. This thesis aimed to choose a suitable heating system for a specific family house. The first part of the thesis deals with a search of commonly used heat sources. This part contains a description of the work of these heat sources and their pros and cons. The following part introduces a specific family house, and the calculation of heat loss and annual heat consumption is performed. Then, three proposals are selected, for which the costs of their operation and return are calculated. At the end of the thesis, the proposals are compared and evaluated from an economic point of view. Based on this comparison, the most suitable proposals are selected, and the conclusions are commented on.
Hydrogen production and storage
Tunys, Daniel ; Lachman, Jakub (referee) ; Elbl, Patrik (advisor)
The submitted bachelor’s thesis deals with the research od available methods of hydrogen production and storage and a summary of important current or future hydrogen projects. The thesis discusses possible ways of hydrogen production from fossil and renewable sources and puts into perspective the advantages and disadvantages of individual conventional and experimental methods. The described methods are also compared in terms of emissions that arise during the process. Furthermore, the thesis compares different methods of hydrogen storage and transport with regard to the appropriate practical use of each of them and describes the advantages and disadvantages of different hydrogen storing methods. The last part is an extract of important Czech and global hydrogen projects and hydrogen strategies of individual countries.
Nuclear fission reactions
Michal, Jakub ; Lachman, Jakub (referee) ; Sitek, Tomáš (advisor)
Understanding of physical principles of nuclear fission and nuclear reactions is crucial for operation of a nuclear power plant. Both, light nuclides, and heavy nuclides, are fissionable, but retrieve enough energy is possible only for the heavy ones such as uranium and plutonium. There are many possible ways how the nuclear fission of the same nuclide can take place, however the energetic balance remains almost the same. Another important factor is the yield of the different isotopes. After fission they are usually in an excited state and decay by one of the decay modes. The nuclear fuels are normally based on the fissile nuclides mainly of the uranium and minorly on the plutonium. Despite the plutonium is originally in the fuel, it is one of the main sources of the released energy from nuclear fission. Problems of nuclear fission are then connected with the nuclear waste and possible proliferation of nuclear weapons.
Heat exchanger design
Los, David ; Lachman, Jakub (referee) ; Baláš, Marek (advisor)
This bachelor's thesis deals with the design of a heat exchanger for the use of residual energy from flue gases from fireplace stoves. Part of the work is a brief description and overview of heat exchangers used in industry, including a chapter on flue gas exchangers. The work also includes a simple conceptual design of the heating circuit of a family house and the following choice of heat exchanger type. The conceptual design is followed by the design of the geometry of the exchanger, the determination of the size of the heat exchange surface and the calculation of pressure losses. The thesis also includes drawing documentation.
Photovoltaic system for a family house
Polnický, Jan ; Lachman, Jakub (referee) ; Toman, Filip (advisor)
The bachelor thesis concerns dimension of a photovoltaic power plant for a family house. In its sizing, the self-consumption of the building was taken into account. Based on the consumption, the required power was determined. Different solutions were proposed to achieve the power output. After considering the location of the building and the natural conditions in the area, the most suitable one was selected. The work also addresses the possibilities of selling the surplus energy. The choice of a suitable product will influence the economic payback period. The final solution was designed regarding to the current situation. As the area under study is developing very quickly, the design of the PV system enables its possible expansion or change of the product.
