The effect of artificial drainage and subsequent restoration on carbon stock and water retention in a watershed
Kešner, Michal ; Frouz, Jan (advisor) ; Kuráž, Michal (referee)
In the 1980s, the meadows around Senotín in southern Bohemia were drained by subsurface pipe drainage. After considerable drought in 1992, this area was subjected to extensive research. In 1995, a part of the drained area was revitalized. The drainage pipeline was interrupted by seven clay screens, over four of them country lanes and shallow depressions were built. The research of this site was realized after revitalization and focused on the water regime of the soil and on the physical, chemical and biological properties of the soil. This thesis describes the state of water regime, physical and chemical parameters of soil in undrained, drained and revitalized areas 20 years after revitalization and compares them with data from research performed in the past. The rainfall and runoff data was measured in the catchment area, and soil samples were collected in the regular network. Research has shown that between 1998 and 2014 there has been a reduction in river runoff. However, a more detailed data analysis has identified the vegetation transpiration as the main factor. There has been no increase in soil retention or soil moisture. None of the investigated soil parameters on the revitalized area (bulk density, carbon and nitrogen content, C:N ratio, pH, and conductivity of the aqueous extract) is...
Resources of thermal waters in Děčín basin area
Strnad, Petr ; Kuráž, Michal (advisor) ; Bašta, Petr (referee)
Bachelor thesis on Sources of thermal water in area of Děčín´s basin is literature review, as is in the title, thermal resources in Děčín´s basin, some experts sometimes called as Děčín´s thermal structure. In first part focussings in history of thermal water diversion, at that time inherently involved with the beginings of baths in Děčín, second part of bachelor thesis takes up readers with geological situation in area of Děčín. In the third part bachelor thesis is describle actual situation of thermal water in Děčín, detail description particular bores including their localization in area of Děčín. Then Bachelor thesis suggests to provision their saving, resousces of saving Děčín´s thermal structure, but the same some possibilities of their progress. The result of bachelor thesis will be not only propose actions to save the Děčín´s thermal structure, but find possibilities other wastes to Děčín and enviroment as well.
Design of the house sewage system and infrastructure of rescue units center
Šmatová, Denisa ; Kuráž, Michal (advisor) ; Jan, Jan (referee)
This master thesis describes the design of internal sewage system and infrastructure of project for building permission - center for rescue units in Hostivice near Prague. Partial architectural design documentation created by Martin Svoboda (student of Czech technical univerzity in Prague) was used as a foundation for this master thesis.
Coupled transport processes
Jeřábek, Jakub ; Kuráž, Michal (advisor) ; Lukáš, Lukáš (referee)
The objective of this thesis was to implement a new module to the DRUtES model code, which allows to calculate coupled transport of moisture, temperature and miscible substance in a variably saturated porous media. The main part of the practical phase of the thesis was to implement appropriate constitutive relationships describing a coupled transport to the Galerkin finite elements scheme previously implemented in the DRUtES model. Besides this, a corresponding configuration files were made to assign parameters of the model into program data structures as well as a little bit of other programming work elsewhere in the code. Numerical solution of each transport equation was compared with its analytical solution. 1D moisture transport with the Philips semi-analytic solution of diffusive form of Richards equation. 2D temperature and miscible substance transport with an analytical solution of advection-dispersion equation. This comparisons suggested that the implementation was correct. The coupling of these processes was compared with a reference numerical solution. In this case was the fitness of results assessed in more qualitative manner with a literature. Before use of this coupled model to solve a real world problem, I would recommend to make a similar assessment with the real data.
