Main period of interest is from 9th to 10th century. This dissertation focuses on the development of foreign direct investment realized by Czech companies during the last two decades. The Czech Republic became one of the targets of foreign investors during its economic transformation while inward investments have all this time exceeded outward investments. This is probably the reason why Czech outward foreign direct investments do not attract such attention in economic research as inward investments. This dissertation tries to extend findings on the influences on the development of Czech outward foreign direct investments, describes who the main Czech investors abroad are and examines the microeconomic and macroeconomic impacts of foreign direct investments. Last but not least, application of the Investment Development Path theoretical concept was used in order to describe Czech outward foreign direct investment in the globalising world economy.

The thesis deals with the growing importance of sovereign wealth funds in the international investment activities. It includes the definition of a sovereign fund, the history of the creation, the largest funds as well as the origin of their capital. While sovereign wealth funds have existed for decades, their profile has risen considerably since the credit crisis. Analyzing the potential benefits and risks related with their investments, the thesis further discusses the changing profile of sovereign wealth funds in the world economy. Despite the significant benefits to global capital markets, some governments expressed concerns regarding the political motivation of their investment activity in strategic sectors of other countries. It is obvious that the measures concerning limited transparency of sovereign wealth funds should be adopted at the multilateral level to avoid protectionism.

Bříza, Pavel ; Černohlávková, Eva (advisor) ; Kotková, Martina (referee)
Foreign direct investment (FDI) plays a significant role in global economy. This bachelor's thesis aims to analyze FDI flows in Brazil, the Russian Federation, India and China (also referred to collectively as BRIC). The BRIC countries are at present considered as the fastest growing economies. By improving the business environment they attract more and more foreign investors. But recently they also became a noted source of FDI. The work is divided into three parts. The first one deals with FDI in general, FDI impacts on host economies and global FDI flows. The second part is devoted to introducing the BRIC countries. The third part gives an overview about FDI flows in the BRIC countries.
