Spontaneous volunteering during the Ukrainian refugee crisis

The thesis explores spontaneous type of volunteering during the Ukrainian refugee crisis in the Czech Republic. Its aim is to describe the reasons and causes leading to the decision to engage in volunteering and to continue in the long-term. The research focuses on the perspective of the volunteers engaged with non-profit organizations, analyzing their experiences and values. The theoretical part contains concepts related to the issue of volunteering in times of crisis, which help to better understand and interpret the results. The research was conducted through semi- structured interviews with volunteers, the outputs of which are specific factors influencing the decision to become a volunteer and to sustain involvement over the long-term. The conclusion includes an analysis of the significance of the organizational context and the organization's approach to volunteers, along with practical recommendations for nonprofit organizations, not only during times of crisis.
Implementation of the human rights-based approach in development cooperation by Czech non-governmental non-profit organizations

This thesis seeks to describe the development and theoretical anchoring of the concept of the human rights-based approach (HRBA) in the context of development cooperation and to examine how it is taken into account by Czech NGOs. The theoretical part focuses in particular on the still controversial issues related to the universalism and cultural relativism of human rights, as well as their mostly individualistic nature. Then, the gradual penetration of human rights into international development discourse and the role and specifics of development NGOs are described in more detail. The thesis presents theoretical insights and concrete examples of the application of the human rights-based approach by NGOs. Critical perspectives and problematic implications associated with its application by NGOs are also discussed. In the Czech environment, the implementation of the HRBA is examined through a case study of two prominent NGOs.
Concept of global citizenship and its active dimension through the eye of the Czech absolvents of Erasmus+ programme

This thesis is focused on the description and research of global citizenship in the context of the Erasmus+ program and civil society. The first part describes the theory and debate associated with the concept of global citizenship, including cosmopolitanism, global civil society, active global citizenship, shared European identity and Erasmus generation. The second part consists of qualitative research, which is focused on the question of the influence of studying abroad through the Erasmus+ program on perception and identification with global citizenship. As part of this research, 10 interviews were conducted with Czech graduates of the Erasmus+ program.
The impacts of online hate speech on non-governmental organizations defending the Roma rights

This diploma thesis explores online hate speech in context of non-governmental organizations defending the Roma rights. The theoretical part defines basic concepts related to civil society organizations, antigypsyism and hate speech.The research part is designed as a single-case study using a combination of non-intrusive research approaches and semi-structured interviews with employees of the selected organization, which is ROMEA, o.p.s. The aim of the thesis is to understand the organization's experience with online hate speech and its impact on its own activities. The thesis provides insights into what kind of online hate speech the organization faces, how it is perceived among its employees and how the organization approaches the issue. The status of women in management positions of the foundations and endowment funds

The diploma thesis is focused on the topic of women in leading positions of foundations and endowment fund. The thesis consists of a theoretical and an empirical part. The theoretical part of the work discusses the role of women in society, historical development and theoretical concepts with an emphasis on the explanation of concepts that are intertwined in the contexts of civil society. It describes the segment of foundations and endowment funds in more detail, clarifies the basic specifics of the non-profit sector with an emphasis on values and the meaning of work, and explains the individual concepts associated with the position of women in the management of organizations. In the empirical part, qualitative research is carried out, which deals with understanding the experience of women who hold a director's position in foundations and foundation funds at several levels. A key element is the clarification of the path of individual women to the leadership of a specific organization, their motivation and possible barriers. How do women see themselves in a leading position and what is their view of the story and culture of a particular organization. Employment of representatives of a selected group of socially disadvantaged persons on the labor market implemented through civil society organizations

This work deals with the employment of representatives of a selected group of socially disadvantaged persons on the labor market, implemented through civil society organizations. The aim of the thesis is to find out how much participation civil society organizations have in supporting people with disabilities with the help of projects within the Employment Operational Program and whether support is evenly distributed in the Czech Republic and how big is a role civil society organizations have in this support. The theoretical part brings knowledge and characteristics of several terms connected with the topic of the diploma thesis. The empirical part is processed in the form of quantitative research with the aim of finding out how many civil society organizations are involved in the implementation of projects, how the given support for persons with disabilities is distributed in the Czech Republic, or to point out places where there is no such organization in the immediate vicinity or where there is no project implemented within the Operational Program Employment.
