In essence, it analyzes the educational system in the Czech Republic, the theory of investment in human capital, costs and benefits of higher education and it determines the rate of return on education. The reader is supposed to obtain a fundamental orientation concerning this issue, inclu- ding the economic justification of the requirement to reach the highest possible education as a way to succeed on the labor market. Unemployment and education in the Czech Republic
Hofman, Stanislav ; Fialová, Kamila (advisor) ; Kameníček, Jiří (referee)
Workers with higher adjusted education are characterised by higher wages, higher participation rate and lower unemployment. The theory of human capital explains lower number of unemployed workers from this group primarily by stronger attachment of more qualified workers to an employer's company and also by more effective job searching, which result in a shorter duration of unemployment. This paper set itself a task to analyse the reasons of variations in unemployment and vacancy rates for groups with different adjusted education by using the model of the Beveridge curve and the matching function. The statistic tests confirmed the theoretical hypothesis about lower risk of unemployment for the group with higher adjusted education. Although unemployed more qualified workers demonstrate lower duration of unemployment as well, it was not positively proved on the model of matching function, that it is due to more effective job searching.

Tanbayeva, Dina ; Půlpán, Karel (advisor) ; Kameníček, Jiří (referee)
The thesis investigates and studies the process of transformation of Kazakhstan economy since 1991, when the republic achieved its independence. Through the whole paper I'll trace the development of the separate sectors of the economy. The Soviet period has accompanied and primarily influenced the formation of the Kazakhstan's State system and the economic features. In this respect, in the first chapters, I would introduce a brief description of development of the country before 1991. Specification of the privatization process I will present in the third chapter. However, the transformation process would be analyzed at the same time in further chapters, concerning development of the main macroeconomic indicators, such as growth of GDP, inflation rate, unemployment, and the level of living. In the last chapters I would depicture the foreign politic and economic relations of the Republic of Kazakhstan, as within the Commonwealth of the Independent States, so in terms of the foreign business relations. Inter-industry wage differentials in the Czech republic
Jelínková, Kateřina ; Sojka, Milan (advisor) ; Kameníček, Jiří (referee)
The thesis deals with the inter-industry wage differentials in the Czech Republic. Inter-industry wage differentials are one of the very important topics of the discussion on marginal productivity theory that has not yet been explored for the Czech Republic. Taking advantage of the individual employer- employee matched data this thesis tests the applicability of unobserved characteristics theory for the Czech labor market. Based on the test on workers of low qualification the paper rejects the hypothesis of the great importance of unobserved characteristics for the determination of wage. The comparison of the Czech industry wage premia with the international standards and also the analysis of industries with high wage premia, namely with high profitability, enables the description of the Czech labor market with the use of the fair wage theory of George Akerlof and the theory of rent-sharing. Burešová, Nikola ; Koprnická, Kamila (advisor) ; Kameníček, Jiří (referee)
This work analyses the current situation of tertiary education funding in the Czech Republic and tries to find grounds for a possible reform of the funding system on the basis of a document issued by the Czech Ministry of Education, Bílá Kniha (transl. White Paper) and economics theories of Barr, Friedman and Palacios, which in different ways have been applied in various countries of OECD. The Swedish funding system is described in more detail. Some results of the reseach into the attitude of the Czech students about the possibilities of cofinancing their tertiary education, which was conducted by the Academy for the Sciences of the Czech Republic in 2004 and 2008 are mentioned marginally. Simultaneously, the data from a special research made only for this work are used.

Novotná, Petra ; Kameníček, Jiří (advisor) ; Cahlík, Tomáš (referee)
Bachelor thesis The Czech and Italian Non-profit sector: Different and Therefore Uncomparable Systems offers an overview of the functioning of non-profit organizations in the Czech Republic and Italy. The main part is divided into two sections so each country is given a separate section. In the beginning is always summarized a historical development and events that most influenced the later development of the nonprofit sector. Next there are introduced types and forms of non-profit organizations, some of legislation arrangements and other basic information. In the analytical part I paid attention to various aspects of current affairs in particular sectors, i.e. new opportunities arising from the Czech accession to the EU or closer introduction of the main types of Italian non-profit organizations. Part of this section is also a general overview suggesting a relationship of local economies to their non-profit sectors. Finally, there is presented one selected Czech and Italian non-profit organization. I concluded my work with an unusual ending which explains the inability to compare the above mentioned sectors.
