Robotization in the Public Library Services

The goal of the bachelor's thesis is to describe the current state of robotization in public libraries. The first part of the work defines the categories of robots that are currently part of the processes in libraries. These categories are reflected using specific examples from practice. The second part of the thesis outlines the anticipated impacts of robotization with regard to librarians as employees. The conclusion of the thesis assesses the findings on the influence of robotization on libraries and librarians. 1
Self-organization of Czech librarians from the 1990s to the present

(in English): The bachelor thesis deals with the topic of association, interest and self-help activities of Czech librarians and librarians from the 1990s to the present. The aim of the thesis is to map the historical development and activities of selected library associations against the background of milestones that have shaped the current form of contemporary Czech librarianship and the associated transformation of the library profession. Attention is paid not only to the best-known associations directly involved in library reforms, but also to informal groups without an organisational structure, which emerged in support of a particular library project or whose activities significantly influenced both the developments in library circles and the perception of the library profession in the eyes of the public. Through a method of historical analysis of sources and a selection of key activities, the influence of voluntary library organisations on the development and transformation of librarianship, including their usefulness to librarians and information workers themselves, is demonstrated in predefined time periods. The aim of this batchelor's thesis The Educational Programmes for Librarians in Pilsen region is to closer introduce the problematic aspect of lifelong lerning of librarians in Pilsen region. The theoretical part is pursuing about lifelong learning and problems united with lifelong learning in libraries. Further on it deals about a system of libraries in Czech Republic and it's financial program, regional function and describtion of organizations and projects to support lifelong learning in libraries. The practical part deals about the evaluation of questionaire and a few half-structured interviews, where was searched for interest and quality of lifelong learning in Pilsen region. The Role of Public Libraries in the Community Development

This bachelor thesis presents the basic facts about the community development role of public libraries. The theoretical part discusses the subject matter of community libraries in general terms, formulating its essential concepts and referring to the definitions and terms used. The public perception of community libraries, and the manner in which these libraries approach community mapping, development and sustainability are also dealt with. The thesis further describes the problems community libraries face, the target groups they work with as well as the vision they follow in this undertaking. The aim of this thesis is to present community libraries in a broader context, to show how libraries of today operate in an environment in which new perspectives can be found through sharing, solidarity and collaboration with local communities, and how they can function as fully-fledged cultural, educational and social institutions. Digitalisation of old prints and manuscripts from collections of the Library of the Military History Institute

Tato diplomová práce se zabývá problematikou digitalizace historických fondů Knihovny Vojenského historického ústavu. Práce je uvozena popisem okolností vzniku a vývoje knihovny, jež mají vliv na skladbu sbírek. Na tuto část navazuje přehled jednotlivých fondů knihovny, popis jednotlivých depozitářů knihovny i podmínek, v nichž jsou uloženy historické sbírky. Následuje nástin problematiky ochranného reformátování a zejména digitalizace knihovních fondů. Rozebírány jsou i možnosti zpřístupnění digitálních dokumentů v rámci České republiky. Poslední celek se již věnuje konkrétně možnostem digitalizace starých tisků a rukopisů ze sbírek knihovny VHÚ. Jsou zde uvažovány možnosti financování a způsob provedení digitalizace historických fondů, nechybí zevrubný přehled přístrojů vhodných k digitalizaci vzácných fondů. Závěr práce patří zhodnocení vhodného postupu digitalizace v podmínkách knihovny VHÚ.
The Role of Libraries in Overcoming Digital Exclusion of the Long Time Unemployed

This bachelor thesis deals with the role of libraries in overcoming the digital exclusion of the long-term unemployed. The objective of the work is to uncover what is the information behaviour of long-term unemployed citizens in libraries and to reveal the services that are specifically designed for them. The bachelor thesis includes a theoretical part, which contains an analysis of definitions related to the topic and their placement in a broader context, and an annotated search of literature related to the topic. The practical part involves qualitative research carried out in the form of semi-structured interviews with three employees of regional libraries. The selected regional libraries were the North Bohemian Research Library in Ústí nad Labem, the Regional Library in Karlovy Vary and the Moravian-Silesian Scientific Library in Ostrava. These libraries were selected specifically for the socio-economic situation in the regions in which they are located. Green Computing

This bachelor thesis focuses on the topic of Green computing, especially in connection with data centers. The aim of this thesis is to map this topic, which is constantly changing with the rapid development of new technologies, and to focus on methods that are relevant at present. In the theoretical part, the work deals with the definition of the term Green computing and its development and describes in more detail the methods of energy savings and their impact on software and hardware equipment. The thesis also contains a case study of the data center Kokura, owned by the company Seznam.cz, which illustrates specific methods of Green computing used in Czechia.
