Analysis of forest canopy density based on textural features of hight resolution imagery and airborne laser scanning data
Bromová, Petra ; Potůčková, Markéta (advisor) ; Hájek, Filip (referee)
Analysis of forest canopy density based on textural features of high resolution imagery and airborne laser scanning data Abstract The objective of this thesis is to assess the forest canopy density in the Šumava Mountains, Czech Republic. The spruce forests in this area have been suffering from the bark beetle outbreak for almost 20 years resulting in a mixture of dead and young trees, mature forest stands and peat bogs. The canopy density was evaluated using a very high spatial resolution panchromatic imagery and low point density LiDAR, combined with an object oriented approach. The classification based on three GLCM texture measures (contrast, entropy and correlation), which were derived from the image objects, resulted in a kappa index of accuracy of 0.45. Adding the information from the LiDAR data, the accuracy of the classification improved up to 0.95.
Marginal areas in Czechia: the example of military bases
Hájek, Filip ; Chromý, Pavel (advisor) ; Baxa, Jan (referee)
This bachelor thesis is dealing with the military bases representing the marginal areas in Czechia. We can consider them as marginal, because they are superseded from the regional system. The first part of the thesis gives a brief notice about theoretical concepts of space polarization, whereas it's focused on explanation of the term "marginality" and its link with the term "military base". The main focus of the second part of this thesis is to afford a wider summary of a literature and programs/conferences aimed at military bases. The last section looks into the history of military bases with a view to describe the main changes of several regards/features which have occured since the foundation of these areas. Bad loans' development in the Czech Republic
Bachtík, Richard ; Pečená, Magda (advisor) ; Hájek, Filip (referee)
Aim of this paper is to estimate credit losses from lending business of Czech commercial banking sector in upcoming 2 years (2010 and 2011). Uncertainty about future development of credit losses has been the main impetus for such estimation since Czech economy found itself at the bottom of business cycle in mid-2009. Hence I build a system of equations based on CreditPortfolioView which enables me to estimate distribution of credit losses by Monte Carlo and to link macroeconomic development to default rates. In addition, I justify the choice of my model when alternatives do not show up in a better light. The paper forecasts stabilization of default rates between the end of 2010 and third quarter of 2011. It warns about severe repercussions for default rates and thus losses if the economy were not able to get to positive values of changes in quarterly real GDP.
Deposit insurance in the European Union
Holá, Veronika ; Hájek, Filip (referee) ; Jakubík, Petr (advisor)

Empirical analysis concentrates on the impact of state guarantees on the deposit grow rate in individual states. In the final part, we discuss the consequences of recent development and possible future progress.
Mean-variance & mean-VaR portfolio selection : a simulation based comparison in Czech crisis environment
Parrák, Radovan ; Hájek, Filip (referee) ; Seidler, Jakub (advisor)
This thesis focuses on two methods for optimum portfolio selection. We compare Mean-Variance method with Mean-VaR method by the means of investment simulation, based on Czech financial market data from turbulent market periods of the year 2007 and the year 2008. We theoretically describe various approaches of optimum portfolio selection within a frame of Mean-Variance as well as Mean-VaR method. Furthermore, we highlight the similarities and differences of both strategies. Finally, we compare both strategies, basing on measurements of relative and absolute profitability of both strategies in crisis periods.
Pricing methods and value of the firm
Moleková, Táňa ; Jakubík, Petr (advisor) ; Hájek, Filip (referee)
One of the main features of slowly passing financial and economic crisis has been the substantial drop of the value of assets held in form of stocks. The key issue for investors during this turbulent period was, whether to hold the stocks in the expectations of consequent regain of their value, or whether to look for safer and more profitable targets for allocation of capital. This is the question that is being asked also by the hundreds of professional as well as small investors and households, which are keeping their money in form of stocks of companies tradable at Prague Stock Exchange. Having in hand the information about the potential over- or undervaluation of the market price of these stock in relation to their intrinsic values based on true financial fundamentals can help them make the right decision. Finding the answers on these questions was set as a main goal of this rigorous thesis. The analysis, which of the theoretical concepts and stock valuation methods are the most successful in explaining the development of the actual stock prices for the companies listed in Prague Stock Exchange comes to the forefront. Different valuation models and econometric tools are tested on several companies in order to estimate the potential relationship between the actual and intrinsic value of these stocks as...
PPP usage in the transport sector : theory vs. experience
Klaus, Marek ; Mertlík, Pavel (referee) ; Hájek, Filip (advisor)
The main goal of the thesis is to create Critical Success Factors (in other words factors, that are essential to achieve successful project) for the Public-Private Partnerships (PPP) projects in the sector of transport. For this purpose, the first part of the thesis is considering general theory, main characteristics, advantages and disadvantages of this alternative model of public infrastructure implementation. Following practical part is studying opportunities and risks of PPP project in the transport sector in term of experience and conclusions based on case study of a successful PPP project. The final part of thesis is constructing the Critical Success Factors and verifying them on certain PPP transport projects.

Remote sensing data usage for solving of illegal permanent stands cut down issues
Introvičová, Sabina ; Hájek, Filip
It is possible to use remote sensing data for Forensic Ecotechnique: Forest and Trees expert’s assessment processing. The image data from some satellites are free on line at present time. Also electromagnetic bands numerical depiction can be obtained from the on line satellite imagery using the open source GIS Viewer QGIS. The way of remote sensing data usage for forensic experts is shown on an example of expert’s assessment regarding the cut down forest. A significant change in forest cover is possible to find when two Landsat-8 satellite images acquired at the different time are compared. We are able to obtain the height of the cut trees from the normalized Digital Surface Model. The height is a quantity needed for the cut trees reconstruction.
