French Lexical Borrowings in Conterporary Bulgarian Language

This Bachelor thesis is focused on lexical items of French origin in contemporary Bulgarian language. These items are being analyzed lexically, phonetically, morphologically and semantically, this analysis shows their adaptation and assimilation process into the Bulgarian language system. Historical, social and cultural causes of French lexical borrowings in Bulgarian are part of the research as well. Language material of the research is based on the Bulgarian dictionary of foreign words (Пернишка, Е. и кол. Речник на чуждите думи в българския език.Наука и изкуство, София 2007).
Translating gastronomy: French Versions of Menus in Prague's Restaurants

The Master's thesis deals with the translatological aspects of multilingual menus in the context of Czech culture. The theoretical framework of the thesis offers several approaches to the topic: cultural, sociological, marketing, terminological and linguistic. Empirical research focuses on the Czech - French language-pair. The study maps online accessibility of French language menus in Prague's restaurants, compares their accessibility to those in other languages and analyses the quality of French translations. The crux of the study is an analysis of various strategies for translating Czech gastronomic terms into French, including adaptation, exoticization/naturalisation, and explication, among others. The analysis is based on Skopos theory and the pragmatics surrounding the supposed receiver of the final text. The study also concentrates on culturally specific terms (Czech specialties, French specialties, third country specialties) and the effect of non-native translators on the quality of the menu.
Technology for Purposes of Social Work: Applications for Chosen Groups of People with Disabilities

The thesis deals with the technology which can be used for the purposes of social work. The beginning of the text is devoted to the concept of social work in the Czech Republic as well as internationally in order to highlight the broader understanding of social work. The remaining text focuses on the possibility and a reason for interdisciplinary cooperation of social work and technology - specific applications and devices that can improve the quality of life of people aiming at public space, focusing on people with disabilities. Gallicismes in Bulgarian in the first half of the 20th century

A diachronic study comparing and contrasting French loanwords in Bulgarian during the 1st half of the 20th century. Research material is based on the dictionary of foreign words by Stefan Mladenov Речник на чуждите думи в българския език с обяснения за происхода и състава им (1932) and the contemporary dictionary Речник на чуждите думи в българския език (PERNIŠKA 2007). Words are compared and contrasted from the lexical, semantic, phonetic and morphological point of view. The results depict the role of French in the Bulgarian society, the evolution of the Bulgarian lexicology and the formal adaptation of the loanwords in the Bulgarian language system. The thesis also sums up current research of the French influence in the Bulgaria.
