Optical Convertors
Chleboun, Jan ; Dostál, Otto (referee) ; Filka, Miloslav (advisor)
Optical converters are used in various types of optical networks to provide end-users of data and voice services and also allow reception of television broadcasting, which is transmitted through optical media. The current trend is the construction of FTTH networks (Fiber To The Home), which, thanks to optical fibre, have reduced the speed or capacity, as in the case with metallic networks. The proposal is the need to consider positive and negative factors associated with building of concrete network with a specified number of users and location. Each network consists of passive and active components. Passive can be used for transmission of information, therefore they are mainly elements transmission medium. Active part includes elements for sending and receiving information transmitted by optical media. Transmitters vary their technical implementation, quality and reliability. This obviously affects the price of both active and passive parts. The cost of the operation of the network are also increased with demands of control. The advantage is the efficient management, which is guaranteed by return of the cost to build a FTTH network. Optical network with a system of remote management converters is a new trend of optical communications.
Methodology for the measurement of optical arterial network
Chleboun, Jan ; Dostál, Otto (referee) ; Filka, Miloslav (advisor)
There are methods to extend the transmission channel of optical transmission medium thanks to the development of telecommunications and informatics. Multiplex is a grouping of signals into a single transmission path and wave-division multiplexing is the best reason of use of the maximum fiber optic transmission capacity. The subject of this work is to determine whether a particular transmission path is suitable for such an extension of their capacity and how much. The answer is obtained by measuring the attenuation, the chromatic dispersion and the polarization mode dispersion, whose values are strictly limited and which determine next steps in the expansion of the transmission path, which is comprised by optical medium. Measurement methods determine the nature of the measured route and its current transmission capacities. Draft of the measurement methodology, which ensures the correct procedures during a possible transition to higher speeds is the output of this work. Thanks to the acquired characteristics of the BAPS (the Brno Academic Computer Network), the bit rate 40 Gb/s can be provided on this part of the network under the conditions of the introduction of certain countermeasures, particularly the exchange of a connectors on the measured optical lines. As for the back reflection lines in excess of the standard recommendation and pre-emptively on the lines with values with still agree with the return loss. Countermeasure for limiting of the chromatic and the polarization mode dispersion are do not need to stand in the way of a planned transition to a higher rate of the BAPS.
White Omsk and Czechoslovak legion
Chleboun, Jan ; Tumis, Stanislav (advisor) ; Vojtěchovský, Ondřej (referee)
The thesis deals with the Czechoslovak garisson and the diplomatic representation in Omsk during the Russian Civil War and the anti-bolshevik governments in the city (1918-1919). It focuses on the local events through the opticians mentioned above, evaluates and analyzes their role, attitudes, everyday life and relations with the White governments and the domestic population. The work is primarilly based on the study of archive sources, periodicals and memories of the participants.
Fourier-Galerkin Method for Stochastic Homogenization of Elliptic Partial Differential Equations
Vidličková, Eva ; Zeman, Jan (advisor) ; Chleboun, Jan (referee)
This thesis covers the basics in the stochastic homogenization of elliptic partial differential equations, from underlying theory up to numerical ap- proaches. In particular, we introduce and analyze a combination of the Fourier-Galerkin method in the spatial domain with a collocation method in the stochastic domain. The material coefficients are assumed to depend on a finite number of random variables. We present a comparison of the Monte Carlo method with the full tensor grid and sparse grid collocation method for two applications. The first one is the checkerboard problem with continuous random variables, the other considers the material coefficients to be described in terms of an autocorrelation function.
Russian civil war. Reflections in the Czechoslovak society (1918-1921)
Chleboun, Jan ; Šedivý, Ivan (advisor) ; Michela, Miroslav (referee)
This work deals with the reflection of Russian civil war (1918-1921) in Czechoslovak society. It focuses on the media presentation of the warring oponents, on the changes of this image during the conflict, as well as on the contemporary war reporting and public awareness. It also explores attitude of different groups of inhabitants and representatives of the state, as well as the influences and connections between events in Czechoslovakia and Russia. The work is mainly based on the research in contemporary press and various publications.
