Department of Film of the Ministry of Information 1945 - 1953

Diploma thesis "Film Department of the Ministry of Information 1945 - 1953" deals with the cultural policy in Czechoslovakia after the Second World War. The introductory chapter focuses on evolution of the negotiations on the post-war organization in the restored Czechoslovakia. In this chapter was mentioned historical context with a focus on foreign and domestic resistance movement. A significant part of the diploma thesis is devoted to the constitution and development of the Ministry of Information and its influence on the culture policy of the state, especially to the activities of the Film Department which became one of the most important department of the Ministry of Information after the nationalization of the film industry in the summer of 1945. The Communist Party of Czechoslovakia used the department and cinematography for spreading communist ideology in society. In connection with historical context, the role of the Culture and Promotion Department of the Central Comitee of the Communist Party of Czechoslovakia and the issue of the import and distribution of foreign films were analyzed. Comparison of the view of events in Czechoslovakia on example of Národní politika and České slovo magazines

The diploma thesis Comparison of the Exile Press's View of Events in Czechoslovakia Using Národní politika and České slovo As Examples analyses the content of exile periodicals relating to the events in Czechoslovakia from the late 1960s until 1989. The analysis focuses on four events which can be seen as key moments in the period in question. The first event covered in the work is the Prague Spring, commencing with the first flashes of change to the occupation by the Warsaw Pact forces and its consequences. The analysis then explores the Helsinki Conference and the related civil initiative of Charter 77. The last even analysed is the Velvet Revolution and the period immediately preceding it. The first part of the thesis gives a historical overview of the development of the situation in Czechoslovakia during the period in question with an emphasis on the aforementioned events in Czechoslovak history. The second part analyses and compares selected periodicals' view of these events and their reaction to the development of the situation in Czechoslovakia. Emphasis is also placed on how exiles saw their role in the events in Czechoslovakia. The Arbeiter Illustrierte Zeitung and its activity in exile in Czechoslovakia

This thesis presents the German magazine Arbeiter Illustrierte Zeitung (AIZ), one of the greatest illustrated papers at the time of Weimar Republic. The weekly was founded in the beginning of 1920s as a propaganda organ of the Workers' International Relief (Internationale Arbeiterhilfe, IAH), a mass organization formed to support workers in case of strikes or natural catastrophes. The founding of the magazine was entrusted to a communist activist and publisher Willi Münzenberg. Under his leadership the AIZ became the most popular left-wing illustrated magazine. It enforced socialism and fought to build a united anti-fascist front. AIZ collaborated with many prominent artists and writers, and its readers were attracted especially by the satirical photomontages of John Heartfield. After Nazi's took over Germany in 1933, AIZ exiled in Prague, where it continued its untiring fight against fascism and advocated the rights of the working class. In 1936, the magazine changed its name to Volks-Illustrierte in order to reinforce the united front movement. The Masterˈs thesis deals with an answer of public service media and a way of their representation in selected newspapers and news websites. Due to the importance of public service media as a guarantee of the balanced and neutral news and because of their specifics to commercial media, this thesis focuses on the way the other media write about them, on the example of the last elections of directors of public service media. The first part explains the specifics of public service media, their progression, the actual position and problems. Further it concerns concrete, czech public service media and there searched phenomenon, i. e. the election of director of public service media too. The second part is my own research. I researched the way of representation of the election of director of Czech Radio in the year 2016 and the elections of directors of Czech Television and Czech News Agency in the year 2017 in the journals Hospodářské noviny, Mladá fronta DNES and Právo and on the news websites IHNED.cz, iDNES.cz and Novinky.cz. The thesis Radio Broadcasting for the German Minority in the Czech Countries until the Year 1945, with the Example of the Melnik Broadcast Transmitter describes the radio broadcasting for the German people living in Bohemia and Moravia in the period from its formation until the year 1945. It concentrates on the radio broadcaster in Melnik that was built in 1938 with the purpose of giving a special broadcasting to the German minority living in the Czech countries. The analytical part is divided into three sections: broadcasting for the Germans in the First and Second Republic and Protectorate of Bohemia and Moravia. Another chapter focuses on the broadcasting from The Soviet Union (especially on the broadcaster Sudetendeutscher Freiheitssender) and Great Britain. It focuses on the contrasting access to the radio broadcasting for this group from the side of the Czech political representation and from the side of the German state. The diploma thesis deals with the regional press in Jáchymovsko between 1936 and 1958. Its aim is to map the development of the press in this locality. It approaches the history of the place, social, economic and demographic aspects for a defined period, which is important to outline for understanding the linkages with the press. The first part of the thesis presents the basic data about the locality from a geographic and historical point of view. It also shows the period after the First World War, the emergence of Czechoslovakia and the new delimitation of the state borders associated with the change of status of the German population in the border area, the thirties of the twentieth century and the Second World War, after which the redefinition of the frontiers of Czechoslovakia took place. Then the end of the Second World War and the demographic change in the Sudetes, the crucial year of 1948 and the onset of the communist regime, are mapped out. In the next part of the thesis, we are going to research periodicals in the context of historical events. Firstly, print is described in the inter-war period.
