Acquisition of handshapes in Czech Sign Language
Buchtelová, Hana ; Hudáková, Andrea (advisor) ; Saicová Římalová, Lucie (referee)
The diploma thesis focuses on the acquisition of Czech Sign Language by one child up to 36 months of age. This child is living in a family where Czech Sign Language is being used as the principal means of communication. The main attention was given to one specific aspect of language acquisition - development of handshape in Czech Sign Language. The thesis presents comprehensive review about sign language acquisition in general, then it focuses on the acquisition of handshape in various sign languages over the world and finally it summarizes results of foreign research. The analysis was based on video recordings that were provided by one family and captured communication between a deaf parent and their child. The main objective of this thesis is to describe a repertoire of handshapes acquired by child as well as their development. Additionally, comparison of handshapes produced by child with handshapes produced by adult users of Czech Sign Language will be made. Results of the analysis will be contextualized and correlated with findings presented by foreign researchers.
Language change in Czech sign language: grammaticalization of the sign STÁT-SE (TO-HAPPEN)
Buchtelová, Hana ; Prokšová, Hana (advisor) ; Richterová, Klára (referee)
This bachelor thesis describes and examines one particular component of the language change phenomenon in Czech Sign Language (CSL). Specifically, the process of grammaticalisation of the CSL sign STÁT-SE/STALO, its functions, both the semantics and functional shifts and its formal changes will be scrutinized. First part of this study is dedicated to introducing the process of grammaticalisation in general. Then, the process of language change concerning the sign languages is in display. Second part deals with the process of grammaticalisation in both the spoken and sign languages. Concerning the sign languages, the main focus will be on those aspects of changes where the shift of lexical meaning and the modifications of sign usage in statement occurs. Third part presents a case study analyzing both of these changes, but for a Czech Sign Language sign STÁT-SE/STALO. Mentioned study has its roots in analogical published paper examining the process of grammaticalisation of the sign HAPPEN in American Sign Language. Based on the research done on both Czech and foreign literature the hypothesis about semantics and morphological-syntactic aspects of given sign and about possible modifications of its forms (e.g. movement reduction) will be presented. The hypothesis will be verified by thorough research...
Monitoring biologicky aktivních látek ve vybraných druzích piva
Buchtelová, Hana
Theoretical part of diploma thesis briefly describes the production of filtered, unfiltered and non-alcoholic beer, including the characteristics of raw materials. Further, the most important biologically active substances, beneficial to human health, are described. These ingredients come within the technological processing from malt and hops. Their representation is influenced not only by the variety of hops but also its habitat, external conditions during the vegetation and technological process of production. Studied constituents affect the chemico-physical characteristics of beer, such as the formation of the foam, its aging, oxidation, and also the organoleptic properties. They also have a positive impact on consumer health through antioxidant, anticarcinogenic and antimicrobial effects. The practical part deals with the determination of selected biologically active substances, determining the difference between their content in filtered, unfiltered and non-alcoholic beer. Qualitative and quantitative content of these compounds was studied using advanced analytical methods.
