Preparation, characterization of trimethylchitosan and verification of its interaction ability with regards to variable charged ionic compounds

The aim of this thesis is to study the interactions of trimethylchitosan with oppositely charged substances with regard to its potential biomedical use. A substantial step before the study of interactions was a successful synthesis of trimethylchitosan, which was subsequently confirmed by characterization of the final synthesis product using physico-chemical methods (infrared spectroscopy, elemental analysis, nuclear magnetic resonance). The result product was subjected to negatively charged interactions such as sodium dodecyl sulphate as a representative of the ionic surfactant, alginate as a natural polysaccharide representative and Chicago Blue as a representative of the anionic dye. The ability to interact with sodium dodecyl sulfate and alginate was demonstrated by the formation of hydrogels, which were subsequently characterized by mechanical viscosity tests using rheometric properties. The positive affinity of trimethylchitosan for organic dyes has been investigated in agarose-based support hydrogel matrices for changes in transport and barrier properties.
ECG Signal Transmission via Ethernet

The semestral thesis describes ECG signal compression methods designed to modify the data for transmission via communication channels. The thesis contains an introduction to Ethernet and explanation of communication in the network. The transport protocols TCP and UDP are discussed in more detail. In the practical part of the thesis was created two separate applications. The first application in the sender's computer opens a text file with the ECG signal. Loaded ECG signal is filtered by cascade of filters to eliminate interference. The resulting signal is displayed. A part of the application is the R wave detection, calculating the length of RR interval and heart rate. The application also allows to compress an ECG signal. ECG signal is sent via Ethernet network via UDP protocol for individual samples. Applications in the recipient's computer receives signal samples from the network. Recieved compressed data is reconstructed. The resulting ECG signal is displayed and there are again detected R waves, the length of RR intervals and sampling frequency are calculated.
Targeted modification of transport and structural properties of biomedical hydrogels

The presented diploma thesis deals with a targeted modification of the structural properties of hydrogels, which is closely related to the application properties of these materials (eg transport). Due to the desired pharmacological applications of the use of these materials for targeted drug release, hydrogels based on chitosan and polyvinyl alcohol as substances with good biocompatibility were selected for the study. The combination of these polymers ensured swelling (controlled by the presence of chitosan) and viscoelastic (influenced by the presence of polyvinyl alcohol) properties, which were characterized by a wide range of analytical and physicochemical methods (swelling, tensile strength, rheology, atomic force microscopy or specific surface area, etc.). Information on structural properties played a crucial role not only for a detailed description of the studied materials in terms of whether the structural properties can be changed in a targeted manner, but also served as an explanation for the different release of the active substance diclofenac from the hydrogel matrix. With regard to the literature search, the effect of pH and crosslinking was chosen to modify the properties. From the measured results it was found that even a slight change in pH has an effect on the transport or release of the active substance. The results obtained in this work may be useful in the formation of hydrogel matrices with drugs depending on the intended medical applications.
ECG Generator in LabVIEW

Bachelor thesis describes the principles of cardiac activity and deals with problems in the ECG signal. In an environment LabVIEW program was created a virtual instrument that generates the ECG signal. On the basis of familiarity with the methods for generating ECG signal method was used, using the similar sections of ECG curves with sinusoidal and triangular course. Virtual device allows you to change the heart rate and amplitude of waves and oscillations. It is possible to simulate a disturbances in the physiology of the heart. For example, different types of AV block, sinus, supraventricular and ventricular arrhythmias.

The dependence of Chinese and Indian economy on mineral and energy imports

The aim of the diploma thesis is to analyze People's Republic of China and India from the point of view of their mineral and energy dependence, where mineral means the necessity to import raw materials for the industry, while energy corresponds to imports of energy resources, namely coal, oil and natural gas. The secondary aim is so called 3C-Analysis (Comparison, Competition, Cooperation), which compares these two economies and evaluates their mutual relationships. The thesis is divided into three main parts - China, India, 3C-Analysis. The subchapters focuse on partial analysis, which are the definition of strategic minerals based on the key industrial branches, the determination of causes of mineral resources dependence and problems outcoming from current structure of energy imports, as well as the analysis and evaluation of the steps leading to the dependence elimination. The text also contains information about the situation in industrial and energy sector of both countries and basic data of raw materials production, reserves, consumption and imports.
