Materials for Historical Building Plaster Renovations
Kolouchová, Eliška ; Bayer, Patrik (referee) ; Rovnaníková, Pavla (advisor)
Main goal of this bachelor´s thesis is to create an overview of range of products for historical building plaster renovations. Furthermore, this thesis presents the development of plaster and mortar creation in the Czech Republic, historical plaster materials and technologies and historic building renewal.
Effect of cellulose ethers on mechanical properties of lime mortar
Skoupil, Jakub ; Bayer, Patrik (referee) ; Vyšvařil, Martin (advisor)
The subject of the thesis is to conduct an extensive literature review on the topic of effect of cellulose ethers on the mechanical properties of lime mortars. The theoretical part is devoted to the composition and production of cellulose ethers, which are available on the industrial market. On the basis of the review, the design of lime mortars using different kind of cellulose ethers has been conducted and after curing the tests of mechanical properties of mortars were performed and evaluated.
Effect of curing conditions on the properties of alkali activated slag
Rypák, Peter ; Bayer, Patrik (referee) ; Rovnaník, Pavel (advisor)
Combination of fine ground granulated slag with proper alkaline activator gives alkali-activated slag – a material with remarkable properties. Theoretical part of the thesis deals with summarizing basic informations about alkali-activated slag, its properties, production and utilization. It also follows research devoted to effects of curing of alkali activated slag and shrinkage-reducing admixtures on its properties. Objective of the experimental part is to determine the influence of curing conditions on the mechanical properties and microstructure of alkali-activated slag. These properties are also monitored in alkali-activated slag with carbon nanotubes and hydroxypropylmethylcellulose as an shrinkage-reducing admixtures.
Influence of waste glass in the alkali activated aluminosilicate
Novák, Václav ; Rovnaník, Pavel (referee) ; Bayer, Patrik (advisor)
Theoretical part of this work will be examine the most common materials from which geopolymers are produced and their alkaline activation and properties. In addition, the work will be examine glass itself and alkaline activation of glass. This paper also will be investigate possibilities of making geopolymers from glass or geopolymers with the addition of glass. In the experimental part geopolymers will be made and their basic material will be replaced with part of the glass. The mechanical properties and microstructure of these mixed geopolymers will be examined and how the glass influence the properties of these geopolymers.
Properties of alkai-activated aluminosilicates subjected to high temperatures
Halasová, Kristýna ; Bayer, Patrik (referee) ; Rovnaník, Pavel (advisor)
Currently the concept of geopolymer or alkali activated aluminosilicate is very mentioned topic. Many studies concerning utilization of these materials have already been made, but if we want to use these materials in building industry in the future, further research will be needed. This thesis deals with the influence of high temperatures on alkali-activated slag, fly ash and metakaolin-based composites. The work compares mechanical and technological properties, microstructural changes and effect off iller on the geopolymer composites heated at 200–1200 °C. In conclusion, the individual properties are compared and application possibilities of these materials are evaluated.
Plasticizers replacing lime in cement-lime mortars
Kajsrlík, Jan ; Bayer, Patrik (referee) ; Vyšvařil, Martin (advisor)
This bachelor thesis deals with the possibility of replacing lime in lime-cement plaster mortars. Considering commercially sold products, it explores the ways of replacing lime qualities by organic materials. Their influence on density, beam test and compression strength are researched; absorption capacity, frost resistance, capillary absorption coefficient are also assessed. Finally the organic materials are compared with the qualities of the lime-cement mortar
Carbon nanotubes in building materials
Fialová, Barbora ; Bayer, Patrik (referee) ; Rovnaník, Pavel (advisor)
Carbon nanotubes (CNTs) has become of great interest for scientists in many disciplines. This study examines the effect of CNTs as nanosized reinforcement for metakaolin–based geopolymer. It was found out that the addition of CNTs considerably affects the compressive and flexural strength geopolymer samples. The influence of CNTs on microstructure was examined using mercury intusion porosimetry and scanning electron microscopy.
Artificial stone - methods of preparation and properties
Pluskalová, Barbora ; Bayer, Patrik (referee) ; Rovnaník, Pavel (advisor)
The aim of the thesis „Artificial stone – Methods of preparation and it´s properties“ deals with the various methods and issues concerning the preparation of artificial stone. The thesis presents the summary of materials and various methods suitable for the preparation and points out mechanical properties, including durability of material, which serves as an alternative to natural stone. Further on, the thesis deals with the studies of binding systems based on geopolymers, which are used for the artificial stone preparation. This part of the thesis is associated with the experimental part, which is aimed at choosing the suitable mixing ratio of binder to aggregate in the artificial stone based on metakaolin geopolymer. According to the results of mechanical tests and aesthetic impression the author chose the best composition and then created a decorative element.
Effect of Grain Size of Waste Glass on Properties of Alkali Activated Aluminosilicate Composites
Novák, Václav ; Vyšvařil, Martin (referee) ; Bayer, Patrik (advisor)
The diploma thesis is focused on the use of the waste glass with different fineness on alkali - activated composites, mainly based on slag and fly ash. The theoretical part is focused on materials that are most used for alkaline activation - slag, fly ash and their composites with waste glass. The theoretical part also deals with the alkaline activation of composites from these materials and the factors that influences the microstructure and properties of these composites. In the experimental part were prepared composites from slag and fly ash with a waste glass as substitute. These composites then have been examined on mechanical properties and microstructure, also how different fineness of glass influences these properties. Then it will be decided whether it is economically advantageous grinding waste glass to finer fractions
Immobilization of heavy metals in the cement matrix with the admixture of natural zeolite
Semerádová, Nikol ; Bayer, Patrik (referee) ; Vyšvařil, Martin (advisor)
Heavy metals released to the natural ecosystem constitute significant risks not only for organisms, but also for water supplies in the nature. There are a number of analytical methods for the determination of heavy metals. Each of them is suitable for different element and its character. Since the results of the analysis are applied during the solidification and stabilization, it is necessary to ensure the highest correlation between hazardous waste and solidification medium for maximum inhibition of toxic ions. This work investigates the stabilization of heavy metals binders based on cement base with admixture of the natural zeolite and its possible use for the solidification of heavy metals in soluble form.
