Large-scale mapping of the St. Kilian Island near Davle with emphasis on comparison with existing data
Kradijan Seider, Filip ; Lysák, Jakub (advisor) ; Šedová, Adéla (referee)
The bachelor thesis aims to topographically map the island of St. Kilian near Davle, with emphasis on usage of own data. Modern methods of spatial data collection (drone photogrammetry) and processing were used. The site is mapped mainly due to the former presence of important monastery and the significant changes of local landscape in the last century. The historical state of the island has already been modelled, but today's models only include the terrain of the island. The emphasis of the thesis is on mapping the remains of the Ostrovský klášter Monastery, creation of digital models of the terrain of the island and the adjacent Vltava river bottom and subsequent large-scale cartography. The work describes the history and current state of the site and existing older data. The methods used to acquire spatial data and the cartographic aspects essential for the site map are outlined. The practical part presents the data and their processing, completion utilizing a field survey, comparison with historical data and map production, using the ArcGIS platform. Limited use is made of scripting using the ArcPy library. Keywords: Ostrov sv. Kiliána (Davle), the Ostrovský klášter monastery, drone photogrammetry, sonar, spatial data comparison
Forest monitoring using the GEDI sensor
Šedová, Adéla ; Potůčková, Markéta (advisor) ; Moudrý, Vítězslav (referee)
The overall objective of this thesis was to explore the use of GEDI and its integration with Airborne Laser Scanning (ALS) for large scale forest monitoring. The study was carried out using a sample of GEDI footprints that fell into the timeline of three available ALS datasets that were acquired during the same year. The study area, located in Southeast of Czechia, is covered with mature 121-year-old forest monoculture of Norway spruce (Picea abies), and due to frequent disturbances caused by infestation is closely monitored as a part of research on forest dynamic. As a result, the forest is highly fragmented, and due to its dynamic character, close dates of acquisitions were preferred to a larger dataset. Canopy gaps and low tree densities are known to pose a challenge for large-footprint full-waveform LiDARs. The specific of GEDI sensor, such as its footprint size, were specially designed to overcome these challenges. The options of optimising GEDI's geolocation accuracy were explored. A tool for integrating GEDI and ALS data, the GEDI Simulator, was used to standardise both data sources and derive elevation height, Relative Height (RH) and Canopy Cover Fraction (CCF). The metrics were derived from real GEDI waveforms, simulated GEDI-like waveforms, and calculated from the ALS point cloud, and...
Tourist map of Ostrov u Tisé with focus on sandstone rock drawing
Šedová, Adéla ; Lysák, Jakub (advisor) ; Tomková, Michaela (referee)
The aim of this thesis is to create, based on existing data and field survey, a large-scale tourist map of a small region (Ostrov u Tisé), focusing on rock climbing and sandstone rock representation. Emphasis is placed on getting details about the rock shapes, in order to portray them using a contour method. As the main source of the rock shapes are used data from airborne laser scanning and other available resources. All the other data for the outcoming tourist map are obtained by a combination of processing data from existing datasets and a field survey. A mobile data collection app Collector for ArcGIS is used for the field survey. The created map can be used either as a board map or as a folding map, and is presumably the first map of this location with this level of detail. Key words: large-scale map, topographic mapping, rock drawing, contour method, Ostrov u Tisé
