Far-right parties in the European parliament

This thesis deals with the far-right parties in the European Parliament. Emphasis is placed on the situation after the elections to the European Parliament in 2014 and the post-election negotiations to create a single far-right political groups. The work introduces the theoretical concepts of the far-right, nationalism, anti-Semitism, racism, xenophobia, populism and euroscepticism. It also deals with the issue of the European Parliament, the formation of political groups and the character of the European elections. Far-right parties in the European Parliament are presented in a separate chapter, which deals with the history of their associating into political groups, the results of the 2014 European elections and negotiations about possible cooperation. Rhetoric and ideology of the far-right is presented on the example of three parties - the National Front, the UK Independence Party and the Golden Dawn.
Convergence of the Czech Republic to the European Union

This thesis deals with an analysis of the convergence of the Czech Republic to the first fifteen member states of the European Union. The aim of this thesis is to evaluate different types of resources that are available for the Czech Republic from the European Union and if and to what extent the development levels of the Czech Republic and the EU 15 countries come closer. The first part of this thesis describes resources provided by the European Union to its member states and funds used to their allocation. The second part focuses on drawing of these resources by the Czech Republic. Specifically, the amount of resources allocated to the Czech Republic is described and the ability of the Czech Republic to use them is analyzed. The third part, core of this work, concentrates on an analysis of several fundamental development indicators. Main indicators of both nominal and real convergence are evaluated, as well as the Human Development Index. These indicators are applied on both the Czech Republic and the EU 15 countries, they are compared and the level of the convergence between the two units is evaluated. The Czech and Irish Protocols to the Lisbon Treaty: negotiation and argumentation of small states

This bachelor thesis focuses on negotiation strategies used by "small states" that are defined in the theoretical part of the thesis. In the form of a case study, the thesis analyses Irish and Czech approach to negotiations on the exemptions from the Treaty of Lisbon, that were put forward by political representation of both countries. The so- called small states use, due to their limited economic and personal resources, specifically aimed activities in order to gain favorable negotiating positions within the European Union. Both Ireland and Czech Republic are, according to the typology used, classified as "small states". During the ratification process of the Treaty of Lisbon, the European Union encountered obstacles caused by the result of the first Irish referendum and by the stance of Czech President Václav Klaus, regarding the completion of the ratification process. These obstacles led to the formulation of specific demands that were presented to the European Union. This thesis examines the strategies that were used in this stage of the ratification process to achieve legal guarantees for Ireland and Czech Republic. This thesis provides empirical findings in the field of the usage of the EWM. In particular it focuses on the adaption of the Czech, Slovak, and Polish parliaments to the EWM and analyses whether the understanding of the principle of subsidiarity by the respective chambers influences their activity in the EWM. This thesis combines a broad range of data sources including: firstly, primary sources such as official documents, reasoned opinions available from relevant databases (IPEX) and a questionnaire filled out by the parliamentary staff; secondly, secondary sources such as previous research in the field, and lastly direct observations. This study concludes that subsidiarity control is understood by the national parliaments as a tool to defend their legislative prerogatives. Temelín Nuclear Power Station and Czech-Austrian Relations

The thesis Temelín Nuclear Power Station and Czech-Austrian Relations deals with the Temelín Nuclear Power Station and nuclear industry and its influence to the Czech-Austrian relations. The study aims to analyse the relations between the Czech Republic and Austria in the context of the power station from 1993 to 2013. Initially, the thesis introduces the theory of constructivism in the International Relations. Afterwards, it aims to explain the differences between the relations to the nuclear energy by Czechs and by Austrians on the basis of the theory of constructivism. Moreover, the thesis introduces the historical, legal and technical circumstances of the Czech-Austrian dispute. The main objective of the thesis is to ascertain, what effect on the Czech-Austrian relations have mediums, which publish articles about the Temelín Nuclear Power Station. There are four Czech relevant newspapers (Blesk, MF DNES, Právo and Lidové noviny) and four Austrian relevant newspapers (Kronen Zeitung, Kurier, Der Standard and Die Presse) inquired in the thesis. Populist and Extreme Right in Contemporary Austria

The thesis "Populist and Extreme Right in Contemporary Austria" deals with the two political parties in Austria - FPÖ (Freihetliche Partei Österreichs) and BZÖ (Bündnis Zukunft Österreich) during the time period from 2005 to 2011. The thesis aims to globally introduce contemporary far-right parties with regard to economic, historical, political and ideological causes of their support. The objective of the thesis is also analysis of far-right parties in reference to all-Austrian and regional dimension. This lower dimension is introduced by nine Austrian states (Bundesländer). The thesis also examines influence of electoral and party system on FPÖ and BZÖ. Regarding electoral system and its results (examples include National Council elections in 2006 and 2008 and Landtag elections in years 2008-2010) the thesis analyzes, whether the electoral parameters can affect support and representation of far- right parties. Another objective is classification of these parties and their relation to far-right terms - extremism, populism, neo-Fascism and neo-Nazism. On the basis of examined pieces of knowledge the thesis attempts to sketch the presumptive trends of far-right parties in the following years.
Footbridge

Master´s thesis deals with design and complex static assessment of steel and timber cable stayed footbridge structural system over the water area. The footbridge is situated into the area of Podyjí National Park near the city of Hnanice. Footbridge span is being used as 52 metres. The structure is formed by flat arched main beams, floor beams, crossbeams, under-deck bracing, pylons and rods. From two variations of footbridge, one was selected and elaborated in more details.
