The main objective is to show on a number of case studies the resolution of catheter- related infections and the financial strain it puts on a cardiosurgical unit of university hospital Královské Vinohrady. A specific goal set for this thesis includes calculating the cost for preventive measures. The practical section is then supported by a theoretical summary of current scientific knowledge on the topic of prevention of catheter-related infections. Nurses' knowledge of elimination methods in intensive care

This diploma theses resolves continuous elimination methods. The goal was to find out nurses' knowledge needed to operate elimination machines in intensive care and availability of practical material that would make these operations easier. Evaluation was build up on questionare survey which included 90 respondents and the results show that the nurses' knowledge are not adequate enough even though materials are present for the majority of the nurses. In conclusion a proposal of recommendation is made for practice in which better and more superior materials should be established in which my thesis should be used as a foundation. Soviet Economic and Military Aid to Egypt in 1960's and 1970's

This diploma thesis deals with relations between Soviet Union and Egypt in 1960's and 1970's, with focus on Soviet economic and military aid to this Arabian country. Soviet Union is perceived as a protector superpower, while Egypt is a client state, which receives generous financial and material aid. This work maps particular pe-riods of Soviet economic aid since early 1960's, when some great economic projects were gradually realized (Aswan Dam, Helwan metallurgic complex), the attention is also decicated to arms supplies and modernization of Egyptian army. The first break point influencing mutual relations is Egyptian defeat in Six-Day War in 1967, after which president Nasser was willing to deepen relations with Moscow and even to grant durable Soviet military presence on the Egyptian territory. The period after the inauguration of new president Anwar Sadat in 1970 can be characterized as gradual worsening of mutual relations. The aim of this thesis is to describe particular aspects of Soviet aid and evaluate it in scope of broader political and strategic interests of USSR.

Analysis of the intranet Sprinx Systems, a.s. and suggestions for its improvement

This diploma thesis devote to design a search of intranets questions and analysis of the current state of the corporate intranet Sprinx Systems, a.s. Intranet can be as useful for small and big company. A well-functioning intranet secures the know-how of company and helps its users at work. The first part of this diploma thesis is focused on design a search of intranet questions, which contains for example historical development of intranets, the basic functions of intranets, create intranet plan, planning intranet content etc. The second part of diploma thesis is focused on the analysis of the current intranet, which was performed using our own experience, structured interview with managers and a questionnaire survey, evaluation and recommendation of proposals to improve the company`s intranet for the future.
