Experimental study of a control synthetic jet's efficiency
Němcová, L. ; Kopecký, V. ; Trávníček, Zdeněk
The present paper deals with an active control of jet flows by means of a system of synthetic jets. The control synthetic jet in one segment of the main round nozzle was measured by means of PIV. The strength of the control synthetic jet was quantified, relatively to the main jet, in terms of the ratios of their velocities, flow rates, and momenta. The results confirm efficiency of the present flow control method.

Some Other Gratings: Benchmarks for Large-Area E-Beam Nanopatterning
Meluzín, Petr ; Horáček, Miroslav ; Urbánek, Michal ; Bok, Jan ; Krátký, Stanislav ; Matějka, Milan ; Chlumská, Jana ; Kolařík, Vladimír
E-beam lithography is a flexible technology for diffraction gratings origination. Nevertheless, requirements of the high optical quality of large area diffractive structures imply various severe challenges to e-beam delineating processes. This paper summarizes the e-beam process parameters that influence the quality of large area grating structures. Next, we propose some new methods to prepare diffraction gratings that were found to be useful for testing and benchmarking purposes. Those methods include single line gratings, labyrinth structures, fractional structures, tiling patterns, quasi regular filling structures and forked line structures. Various samples were prepared with the standard and newly developed e-beam patterning processes using both e-beam writers available: one with the Gaussian beam at 100 keV and another one with the shaped beam at 15 keV. Some of the results are presented further in this paper, their variants and parameters are discussed as well as their usefulness as benchmarking e-beam patterns for large area optical structures, elements and devices.

Preparation of gold, silver and platinum colloid solutions by precursors decomposition in low temperature plasma
Brožek, Vlastimil ; Kutílek, Zdeněk ; Mastný, L. ; Sýkora, V. ; Benešová, L. ; Sofer, Z.
Liquid precursor decomposition in the low temperature plasma generated by WSP® was used for synthesis of precious metals nanoparticles. The gold in the form of H[AuCl4], silver in the form of AgNO3 and platinum in the form of H2[PtCl6] were used to generate colloid solutions with concentration of 5 mg.l-1 – 70 mg.l-1 and particle size of 20 nm – 120 nm. The solution contained elevated concentration of nitrite and nitrate ions due to the reaction of plasma with nitrogen form air. In order to reduce the concentration of nitrite and nitrate ions the plasma generated nanoparticles was projected by plasma torch to the ammonium chloride solution. Other way used for reduction of NO3- and NO2- concentration was optimization of geometry of plasma system. The other way was also by application of shrouding effect by nitrogen and ammonia gas. The size of nanoparticles and their concentration can be influenced by geometry of plasma torch, composition of carrier gas and by geometry of

Experimental heat exchanger with a corrugated capillary tube
Peukert, Pavel ; Hrubý, Jan
The short article inform the reader about a experimental heat exchanger build and located at the Academy of sciences of the Czech republic. This set-up was launched during November 2009. Ther article further contain research argumentation, some details of the design and actual stage of the set-up (year-end 2009).

Experimentální systém pro výzkum kavitačních jevů v hydraulických tlumičích rázů
Müller, M. ; Prášil, L. ; Zima, Patrik
The article describes the experimental system for investigation of growth, activity and collapse of cavitation bubbles or structures in a hydraulic shock absorber. The experimental chamber allows to insert a real shock absorber piston and install acoustic/optical measurement devices including bubble spectrometer, a PVDF hydrophone for the measurement of acoustic emission from the collapsing bubbles and a high-speed camera combined with laser sheet illumination. A specially designed high-resolution mirror lens can be installed in the chamber to investigate the bubbles in the micrometer range.

Energy-Water-Vegetation Based Environmental Accounting of Ecosystem Services and Stocks
Seják, J. ; Pokorný, J. ; Cudlín, Pavel ; Burešová, Renata ; Prokopová, Marcela
Human societies and their economies decisively depend on the life supporting functions and services of earth’s ecosystems (MEA 2005). Natural ecosystems protect against harmful cosmic radiation, continually control the composition of atmosphere, produce fertile soil and biomass, clear air and water, mitigate climate extremes, maintain biodiversity, decompose organic waste etc.
