European funds and their usage for logistics projects in Czech Republic.

The thesis discusses the issue of freight villages and the possible usage of European funds for their construction. The topic is very actual because by the current program period 2014-2020 has appeared change concerning the financial support of multimodal freight transportation. The aim of this thesis is to determine, whether from the production companies operating in the automotive industry exists demand for such a freight villages. Needed information has been obtained on the basis of in-depths inteviews of manufacturing companies located in the region Vysočina.

International economical relations of European Union

The aim of this thesis is to create scenarios of a possible development of future economic relations between the European Union and Russia. These scenarios of a possible development will be based on a description of those relations beginning with those that began to build up between these two subjects after a break-up of the USSR till the contemporary status when the situation between Europe (or more precisely the European Union) and Russia became considerably tense. There will be two suggested scenarios of a possible development and the first is possible to be marked as a pessimistic one and the second an optimistic one. The pessimistic scenario will continue to develop the status quo that is heading for a further limitation of economic cooperation. The optimistic one will take into account a gradual releasing from the sanctions and a cooperation improvement and it will discuss a possible progress of mutual economic relations.

Evaluation of the European Cohesion Policy in Selected Region

The diploma's thesis is aiming to evaluate European policy of social cohesion and its growth options in the selected region. The evaluation is connected to the Elbe cycle route and it is based on analyses.
The theoretical part of the thesis introduces the subject of European policy of social cohesion while defining its legislation and framework of the legislation. It also defines the embodiment of regional politics within legislation of the local government i.e. the Czech Republic.
Analyses of the development of the selected project i.e. the Elbe cycle route and its impact on Hradec Kralove district will be dealt with in the practical part of the thesis. Business results of entities participating on the Elbe cycle route project will be gathered and used in order to evaluate selected indicators. Final assessment will be based on benchmarking. Method of comparison, analyses and syntheses will be used to evaluate gathered data. Applicable data will be gathered by research of related literature. Information will be also provided by the executive entities connected to the project, regional websites focussed on cycle tourism and by the town of Smiřice. Data gathered by the entities that cooperate on supervision of the Elbe cycle route project will be used for the statistic assessment.

The Wine Market in the Czech Republic and the Politics of Wine

The dissertation thesis is focusing on the wine market in the Czech Republic. The aim is to identify weaknesses in the wine sector in order to formulate recommendations for improving a current situation in the sector. The Common Agricultural Policy of the European Union and the Common Market Organisation for Wine was presented in the theoretical part of the thesis, where also theoretical aspects of a market including supply and demand were described, as well as an agri-food market and its specifics, wine commodity chain, determinants of demand, supply and prices of wine. In the following chapters an analysis of the wine market, especially with emphasis on the production potential of vineyards in the Czech Republic was created, and demand, supply and price of wine including a price transmission in the commodity chain of wine were modelled based on a regression analysis. The significant influence on demand of wine have had previous values of wine consumption and wine prices, substitutes consumptions (prices of substitutes were not a significant factors), household income and salary, a quality of the wine and awards in international competitions. Significant factors of the side of supply including the price of wine grapes, the price of wine, vineyard area, production of wine grapes, some aspects of weather and certain subsidies. A climate change, which is in progress, may result to the expansion of viticulture and winemaking in the Czech Republic and also to a change of varieties in vineyards. Demand has in the commodity chain of wine greater impact than the supply. It can have a negative effect on growers or winemakers. Planting of vines is not sufficient to maintain current levels of a production potential of vineyards in the Czech Republic. The ideal amount of annual planting vines should be about 655 ha. A related issue is financing a vineyards renewal, which is costly. Based on a financial analysis of small and medium-sized wine companies, it was found that these businesses cannot afford the renewal of vineyards from its own resources and will require grant assistance of the state, eventually EU.

Impact of the European Cohesion Policy in Central Bohemia Region

This thesis evaluates the impact of European Cohesion Policy in Central Bohemia Region with focus on Podlipansko region. The thesis is focused on activities of the Local Action Group Podlipansko in the programming period 2007 - 2013.
The theoretical part deals with the regional policy of the European Union, including the financial instruments of regional policy and the principles of regional policy. Following section is dedicated to the development of cohesion policy in the Czech Republic
and cohesion regions.
At the beginning of the practical part of the thesis, Central Bohemia Region and the activities of the local action groups are described. Next section is dedicated to the activities of the Local Action Group Podlipansko in Podlipansko region. Activities of the Local Action Group Podipansko are evaluated through the monitoring indicator analysis.
The results of public inquiry among residents of the region are addressed as well.
The closing part assesses if the activities of the Local Action Groups are beneficial for the development of rural areas.

Subsidy Support of the Sustainable Waste Management

The subject of the dissertation is the issue of the waste management with special emphasis on the recycling of the construction and demolition waste. The recourse is an analysis of the key instruments regulating the activities and behaviour of market operators in this field toward fulfilling all-society priorities and principles of the sustainable development, where special accent is put on the area of subsidy policies and programmes. The aim of the dissertation is to analyse and evaluate the setting of the selected subsidy programme in terms of economic and ecological efficiency with the emphasis on the assessment of the impact on the recipient. The subject of the research will be a priority axis 4 "Improvement of Waste Management and Removal of Old Environmental Burdens" within the Operational Programme Environment 2007 - 2013. In the literature review basic concepts and important definitions are defined, followed by the comprehensive and complex searches of the problematics from different angles of view. First of all, the global aspect of environmental protection is discussed, broader historical, legal, economic and political contexts, that are essential fundament for understanding the current and future challenges both globally regionally, are summarized. Hereafter, a more detailed description of the situation of the European Union is followed, then the overview is completed by a detailed view at the state of the problematics in the Czech Republic. Subsequent chapters are devoted to a detailed analysis of the waste management sector, again in terms of global, European and national standpoint, in the end the view is focused on the key issue of the dissertation problematics of construction and demolition waste. In the application part the fulfilling of the stated objective of the dissertation through four defined hypothesis is solved. Hypotheses verify the efficiency and appropriateness of the setting of the system of subsidies in the frame of the monitored programme. The emphasis is imposed on the assessment of the impact of the allocated subsidies to the private entities on their economic and environmental efficiency.

Online Subject Searching of Dissertations

This paper evaluates searching for doctoral dissertations by topic in various online systems. The situation in the Czech Republic is introduced, including the problems involved in completing successful topical searches for dissertations – is it possible to find all relevant materials, or is it sufficient just to find something? The Czech situation is then compared with how systems abroad, particularly in the United States, are being implemented with new access routes for dissertations in the form of linked open data, in which controlled vocabularies of subject terms figure prominently. The paper also discusses how selected European systems whose dissertations are already presented in the WorldCat database will cope with a challenge: “... Over time, these references [for topic entities] will be replaced with persistent URIs to... Linked Data resources”?

Common commercial law for Europe

This work deals with common commercial law for Europe, which lacks the exis-tence of the standard of contracts concluded by traders with consumers. The solution of this problem can be the Proposal for Regulation of the European parliament and Council on a Common European Sales Law. This work discusses the evolution of this proposal, which was cancelled and converted into Union strategy for the single digital market. It deals with its benefits and potential.

Territorial Administration in the Czech Republic - the direct election of mayors

The starting point of the diploma thesis is a discussion of the direct election of mayors in the Czech Republic. The aim of the thesis in this context is to assess whether the direct election of mayors is appropriate in the normative framework of territorial administration of Czech municipalities and if so, under what circumstances. A partial aim of the work, intended to lead to the fulfilment of the main aim, is the description of the formal role of mayors in the administration of municipalities, the description of the manner of appointment of mayors into their positions, as well as the description of the anchoring of the position and election of mayors of municipalities in selected European countries. Another partial aim is the description of starting points for the direct election of mayors, stemming from the attitudes of mayors of selected municipalities.
The subject of study will be the normative setting of the mayors position in the regional administration in the Czech Republic and simultaneously the manner of their election. Another subject of study will be the attitudes of various mayors in relation to the issue of their formal position and election. The data on the mayors attitudes will be obtained by the focus group technique. The criterion for the selection of respondents will be the municipality size. The purpose of the work is to generalize the data obtained and to assess it on the basis of the prevailing opinion.
