Novel foods
MIKLOŠOVÁ, Katarína
The contents of the Bachelor's thesis is the performance of novel foods. Since it is relatively new and not much known area of the food industry, is available to only a limited amount of information. The work shows how it looks on the Czech market legislation, approval, placing into circulation and food safety. It is also possible to read at work how consumers and retailers perceive novel foods. What range of novel foods is in our market? A new type of food is also genetically modified organisms, that work also deals with.

Segmentation of the organic food market

The goal of this masters thesis is focused on segmentation of the organic food market in the Czech Republic based on analysis of similarities or differences among consumers in Czech organic food market and also find out who is a typical organic food consumer. The thesis is divided into three parts, the theoretical, the methodological and the practical part. Process of the market segmentation, methods and approaches of the segmentation, the basic concepts and legislation on the matter are described in the theoretical part. Furthermore, mapping the situation of the contemporary state of the Czech organic food market. Marketing research is introduced in methodological part of the thesis. The practical part includes market segmentation by using secondary data MML - TGI (with Data Analyzer software) and primary data from quantitative research (with SPSS software). Variables were reduced to the four factors by using factor analysis. Then consumers were put into five clusters based on cluster analysis. Segments were characterized in detail using a general analysis, contingency tables, MCART analysis and multivariate statistical methods. Finally, there were elaborated appropriate marketing recommendations for the individual segments to effective marketing communication with them.

Barley as the functional food

The aim of the bachelor thesis was evaluation of the barley potential as functional food with respect to contents of various biologically active matters with possible pharmacological effects. The introductory parts of the thesis were focused on general information about barley and its importance and utilization. The following part evaluated barley for food applications and breeding programs of glumeless barley that are very suitable for food production. The thesis also presented the concrete examples of barley functional matters and their health preventive effects. Very important chapter of the thesis from the point of view of barley utilization was the part about green barley. The concluding part of the thesis was devoted to definition of functional foods -up to now it has not been created unified definition of functional food. This chapter also showed concrete examples of functional food in barley nutrition, bakery, dairy, gastronomy, butchery, cereal nutrition or in combination with pasta. The information used thorough the thesis was obtained from publication of Czech as well as foreign authors and the carefully were described problems of the established theme.

Food and pharmacy views about honey.

This bachelor thesis is focused on honey and products produced by bees. It deals with creation, composition, conditions for storage and classification according to origin, processing and packaging. It summarizes the history of honey, bee products and variety of their usage. The main focus is on pollen, royal jelly, bees-wax, propolis and bee venom. One part describes the legislative requirements relating to the quality of honey. There is also a chapter of indicators of honey quality, when applying the knowledge in practice is necessary to recognize poor quality product. A part deals with worldwide amount of bees colonies, czech producers of honey and possible counterfeit of honey.

French and Czech terminology in European legislative texts from the domain: Food safety.

This thesis deals with French and Czech terminology European legislative texts aimed at the section "Food Safety". The work is divided into two main parts. The first part, theoretical, contains several chapters which are focused on the basic translation techniques and linguistic terms which are very important for my bachelor thesis. Furthermore there is a short presentation of the software program ParaConc which is absolutely necessary, simply description of the work with selected legislative texts and the formation of the corpus. The second part, practical, is focused on the work with the created corpus - a selection of key words, collocations, find their translations, mainly examination of the adequacy of the translations.

Quality of food on the Czech market from the perspective of consumers

The aim of this thesis is to find out how consumers perceive the quality of food on the Czech market. The first part of the thesis introduces theoretical basis, such as legislation, quality marks, as well as consumer behavior, his research and the factors that influence him, and a purchasing decision making process. The second part presents the results of a questionnaire survey.

Analysis of healthy food advertisements

The thesis deals with the expression of health in advertisements. It analyses individual advertisements through semiotic analysis, which is divided into several parts. First of all it analyses the effect of advertisement, its linguistic contents and the meaning of the advertisement. At the end these advertisements are compared and motives are chosen, which connect all of these advertisements. The result is a picture of health, as it is presented in advertisements.

Hodnocení tělesných parametrů studentů v průběhu studia pomocí bioelektrické impedance

Crucial goal of this diploma thesis was to study nourishment issues of students at Czech Universities and compare results with figures taken from central Europe location. Further objectives were to characterize segments of human body, select risk parameters and characterize the method of bioelectric impedance. In practical part of this thesis was made analysis, which showed changes of the students' body composition during their studies at Mendel University. Measuring were made by bioelectric impendance using Bodystat QuadScan 4000. Analysis took place from the beginning of March 2013 to the end of September 2013. Students undertook three measurements, which were compared afterwards. Mainly were observed changes in Body Mass Index, Waist Hip Ratio, weight, fat content, amount of active body mass, water capacity and water separation to extracellular and intracellular. In between first, second and third (3/2013, 5/2013, 9/2013) measurements, were not proven any statistic differences (p > 0,05) in observed corporal parameters. Practical part includes also questionnaires, which were made in order to find out students' eating habits, physical ability and presence of illnesses in their family. Last point of the practical part is students' diet evaluation in Fit Line program, there were discovered preferences of groups of food, energy distribution and nutritive composition of each meal measured during one day. Statistically conclusive difference of saccharids (p < 0,05) was detected in all meal portions. Obtained date, were evaluated in Microsoft Excel 2010 and Statistika Cz, version 12.

Foodstuff quality from the customer's point of view

As mentioned by the topic of my Bachelor's thesis I surveyed a lot of respondents in order to collect the information about their view on foodstuffs quality. For example I was interested if people considered the nutritional composition of the products, if they knew what the quality food label means, how many times they bought foodstuff and how many times they had solved food related issues. Furthermore, I mention the security of foodstuffs' labelling and describe many different types of customers' behaviour. The price of foodstuffs is also a very important topic I mention. Finally I focus on specific commodities like (meat and meat products, eggs, milk and dairy products, pastries, fruits and vegetables).

Food quality in the Czech market - regional food

This work deals with the labeling of food quality marks in the EU and the Czech Republic with a focus on Regional food branding. The first chapter describes the labeling of quality brands in the EU and on the Czech market. The second chapter describes the brand and Regional food competition. Then there is the evaluation of our own research on these brands. The last chapter is devoted to creating a new marketing strategy for the store Jednota, consumer cooperatives in Toužim.
