Words versus music: analysis of Samuel Beckett's "Words and Music", "Cascando" and "Rockbaby"
Fořtová, Linda ; Wallace, Clare (referee) ; Pilný, Ondřej (advisor)
It was my endeavour to demonstrate the manifold capacities of music with (or emanating from) a text. Indeed, I have proved that music is able to express what words cannot, and that there are many links between the verbal language and that of music, and thus both can be used in an interplay as it can be perceived in Cascando where Voice merges with Music in harmony and their arrangement constitutes a fugue; or both elements can challenge each other in an effort to ascertain which of them should be taken as superior to the other, as in Words and Music; or, even, that language freed of the customary syntactic chains is able to produce rhytmical patterns in accordance to what the words describe, as it is in Rockaby.

VAČLENOVÁ, Veronika

My Bachelor thesis is divided into two parts, a theoretical part and a practical part. The theoretical part explains a conception of liturgical music. This part also presents documents concerning liturgical music published by the representatives of the Church. At the end of the theoretical part I present a structure of the mass with an explanation of its particular passages. The practical part is focused on interpretation of liturgical music in particular parishes of the Písek and Tábor vicarages.

Swedish violin music from the 17th century until the late 20th century
Nyman, Emma ; ČEPICKÝ, Leoš (advisor) ; TOMÁŠEK, Jiří (referee)
In this essay I have tried to summon four of the most important composers in Swedish violin music : Johan Helmich Roman, Franz Berwald, Tor Aulin and Sven-Erik Bäck. All four composers were violinists and each of them written at least one violin concerto. In the chapters about each composer I´m presentig my view as a violinist of their violin music and discussing what specific things they have contributed and done to the Swedish violin music tradition through both a historical and musical perspective. I´ve tried to answer the question : What is typical or specific for Swedish violin music? I´ve summoned my thoughts of the specific Swedish tone-language- why it sounds as it does, what particuliarities it has and how it has developed from the 17th century until the late 20th century. I have also written about the music life in Stockholm throughout the histoty - which has been very interesting in a perspective when trying to understand why the music life in Sweden looks as it does today.

Chamber music - development of musicality and creativity
Klinecká, Magdalena ; Tomášek, Jiří (advisor) ; Palkovská, Jana (referee)
This work treats of chamber music in several points of view. First, it deals with chamber music in itself; second, with its relation to the interpret; third, with its reference to the audience. Concerning the relation between the interpret and chamber music, we recognize different stages and levels of its prosecution - by children, pupils, amateurs and professional musicians. Further, we detect the impact of chamber music on a person listening to it. We find the positive influence of that music on diseased or handicapped people. We get knowledge of various competitions for chamber ensembles. In the end we acquaint with playing chamber music within my "initial" family and with an extract from arrangement of folksongs for children.
