The aim of this essayistic piece is to lay out the deeper motives of his personal trajectory, photographic oeuvre, and activities for the Czech exile community. Krčil’s photographic body of work is inseparably connected with his eventful life. The writing of the thesis was preceded by tracking down and putting together Krčil’s fragmented estate, sorting out his correspondence and writings, and interviewing people who knew him personally. Sculptor Josef Dietrich from České Budějovice
VODIČKA, Matěj
The aim of this work is to discuss the life and selected works of somewhat neglected baroque sculptor Josef Dietrich from České Budějovice. Because of his work in the streets of České Budějovice occupies privileged position in number, he could be considered as the most important and most prolific artist who ever lived in this city and his contribution to the South Bohemian baroque art, in my opinion, has not been adequately appreciated. All aspects of artistic and personal life of Josef Dietrich could not be covered in this bachelor thesis, so the aim of this task is to analyze selected works of Dietrich and take them into his account patterns, to identify previously unknown circumstances of his creation, to highlight his importance to České Budějovice region and integrate the production of his workshop into the development of baroque sculpture in the country. The principal sources in the preparation of this work I have been using were archivals and literature about the history and development of České Budějovice city where Josef Dietrich lived most of his life.

Navrátil has not been subject of a complex publication yet, although he is the author of the largest petition demanding religious - and with that going hand in hand also civic - liberties in socialist Czechoslovakia (1988, 600 000 signatures). Followingly, this is the first attempt to biographically outline the personality and motivations of this farmer, politician (member of the party Lidova strana), man who signed Charta 77 but also a husband and father of nine children. The aim is to cover his life from his birth, over his family background to the beginnings and heights of his social engagement. The text will mainly deal with 22 open letters in which he drew attention to various illegal practices and actions of the Communist power, as well as with the three petitions he authored (1978, 1985 a 1988) and the samizdat (self-published) journal Křesťanské obzory (Christian horizons), which he published with a group of others from June 1988 to July 1990. In contrast to most Czech dissidents, he was never sentenced to a prison term for his activities, but he had to involuntarily undergo repeated psychiatric treatment. He was...
