Application of long-period fiber grating as converter of phase modulation to amplitude modulation
Škoda, Pavel ; Honzátko, Pavel ; Kumpera, Aleš
We proposed and demonstrated that long-period fiber grating can serve as converter of phase modulation to amplitude modulation in wavelength converters based on XPM. In our particular implementation, an input pulse train with repetition rate of 160Gb/s at the wavelength of 1572nm were converted to train of 2ps pulses at 1555nm. We shown its benefits compared to differential interferometric schemes used for the same purpose.

Periods of Globalization and chosen issues
Horák, Vladimír ; Sirůček, Pavel (advisor) ; Džbánková, Zuzana (referee)
Globalization is a phenomenon that has been influencing human existence for a long time. However, processes of globalization as well as its periods have not been unified yet. This paper seeks to describe basic milestones of globalization as well as its historical reflexion. The description is put in the context of the World Bank's approach to economic history. Globalization is inherent to many problems. Nevertheless, many authors point out positive effects of globalization. It is substantial to be aware of what the benefits of globalization are and to know why to support it. It is also important to monitor its negative impacts showing us warnings for the future and indicating what we should avoid in the present. The goal of this paper is to point out the influence of globalization within nowadays information and from the economic point of view. Present financial crisis which effects the whole world is closely associated with globalization. Therefore, one section of the paper is dedicated to this topic.

Modelling of lumpy clay fills
Najser, Jan ; Boháč, Jan (advisor) ; Herle, Ivo (referee) ; Doležalová, Marta (referee)
of the dissertation An extensive open cast mining of brown coal has been taking place in NW Bohemia since 1940's. During the mining process, overburden clay is placed in the form of irregularly shaped lumps of typical dimensions up to 500 mm into large spoil heaps. The total thickness of the lumpy clay landfills is usually 20-50 m. Their material has a double porosity structure: the porosity of intact clay (intragranular porosity) and the voids between clay lumps (intergranular porosity). The total porosity of the fresh fill can be up to 70%. This soil presents special challenges for geotechnical design, primarily because of its high and non-uniform settlement. Further, the progressive tranformation from the "granular" to "fine-grained" material makes the lumpy clay difficult to characterise and model. The aim of the presented thesis is to describe the behaviour of the landfill and the change of its structure by means of field measurements, the centrifuge and numerical modelling. During site investigation for a motorway over a 20-30 years old landfill, two trial embankments were built and 1 monitored over the period of 3 and 6 years respectively. The subsoil of the embankments was instrumented by hydrostatic levelling profiles, pore pressure transducers and depth reference points installed in...

Mediální prezentace veřejné zeleně v Českých Budějovicích (obsahová analýza jihočeského regionálního tisku)
Kušová, Drahomíra ; Těšitel, Jan ; Bartoš, Michael
Press is a part of mass communication providing the public with information and symbolic contents. It always reflects the supposed interest of the public in concrete problems and it mediates social control of the institutions which are responsible for the particular spheres. On the basis of the content analysis of the regional press in South Bohemia we can state that citizens do not perceive the problem of public greenery as urgent and thus this topic is not very frequent in the media. People mainly observe if public greenery is in good shape. The number of organisms to be encountered in urban environment by greenery users is not large according to the press.

Hydrometeorological droughts in the Czech territory since 1851
Kakos, Vilibald ; Müller, Miloslav
Variously long periods of precipitation deficit were studied. In the 20th century, the most intensive drought period was first half of 30s. Nevertheless, the drought in first half of 60s of the 19th century was even stronger from the viewpoint of precipitation as well as outflow characteristics. Hydrological droughts arise generally later than precipitation deficits as was shown by comparison of both types of droughts.

Nursing care about women with multiple pregnancy
LINHARTOVÁ, Petra
ABSTRAKT Nowadays the occurrence of multiple pregnancy is connected with methods of artificial insemination that bring along many other complications. A multiple pregnancy requires greater attention, care of the obstetrician and the midwife. Because the attendance care for these woment keeps developing at the same time with new findings, it is necessary to provide a quality care, of which is mostly in charge an experienced midwife. Multiple pregnancy is a state when there is more than one fetus developed in the womb. Mostly we are speaking of twins (gemini), triplets (trigemini) and quadruplets (quadrigemini). A multiple pregnancy is a greater burden to the organism of the woman during the whole period of pregnancy. Speaking of multiple pregnancy we should count with occurrence of various complications, e.g. premature labour, placental insufficiency, or occurrence of toxaemia of pregnancy. Therefore an early and regular prenatal care is so important for women with multiple pregnancy. To find out whether the nursing care for woman with a multiple preganancy is carried out according to given nursing standards, we chose a quantitative survey and used the questionnaire form. There were 27 open questions, semi open and closed questions. Midwives could cross or fill in their answers. The questionnaires were distributed in Hospital České Budějovice a.s., Hospital Nymburk s.r.o. and in Hospital Český Krumlov s.r.o. and they showed that the nursing care, e.g. blood pressure measurement, pulse measurement, weighing pregnant women, fetal auscultation is fulfilled from 100%. It was further found out that the nursing standards are carried out from 83% and that the ultrasound examination of fetuses is carried out in 100% according to the recommendations of the Czech Gynecological and Obstetrical Society. 43% of midwives do not consider the care for women with multiple pregnancy more complicated than other hazardous pregnancies and 57% of midwives claim that the care for women with multiple pregnancy is not more complicated at all. The survey has shown that the nursing care for women with multiple pregnancy corresponds to nursing standards, which confirms the working hypothesis at the same time the goal of the paper concentrated on carrying out of nursing care according to nursing standards was fulfilled.

Ellipsometry of Thin Films
Novotný, Zbyněk ; Navrátil, Karel (referee) ; Nebojsa, Alois (advisor)
Diploma thesis deals with ageing process of thin films of Co and Cu on Si substrate, prepared by the IBAD method. The process of film ageing, which depends on time of exposition to the atmosphere at room conditions, was investigated with spectroscopic ellipsometry (VIS+UV) and atomic force microscopy. In case of thin Co films, approximately four days long incubation period was observed. During this time period, a change in the optical parameters of the film occurs without a measurable change of the film topography. Using non-contact atomic force microscopy, a growth of the transitional film in the island growth regime was observed. During the ageing of thin Cu films, two stages of growth of the transitional layer were observed - nucleation stage and growth stage. Both of these time periods of the transitional layer growth show direct logarithmic dependence. Using non-contact atomic force microscopy, the growth of the transitional film was observed. Using atomic force microscopy in non-contact regime, time dependent measurement was done and the process of forming of one monolayer of the transitional layer was documented. Within the diploma thesis, a series of experiments on ultra high vacuum system were performed in order to investigate phase transformation of thin Fe films (22 monolayers) on Cu(100) stabilized by CO absorption. The transformation from fcc phase to bcc phase was induced by Ar+ ion beam bombardment with the ion energy in the range (0.5-4) keV. The process of phase transformation was observed by surface magneto-optic Kerr effect, Auger electron spectroscopy and low energy electron diffraction.

Sudetendeutsche Landsmannschaft in the 21st Century in the Czech Republic and Germany
Jechová, Veronika ; Kučera, Rudolf (advisor) ; Jeřábek, Martin (referee)
The diploma thesis "Sudetendeutsche Landsmannschaft in the 21st century in the Czech republic and Germany" deals with the position and influence of this organization on present Czech-German relationship. In the theoretical part of this work there is described the creation, structure, aims and needs as well as present problems of Sudetendeutsche Landsmannschaft. Further in the text is the analysis of the position of this organization in the Czech Republic and in Germany. The cooperation of the representatives of Sudeten Germans with German political parties and the attitude of Czech and German governments towards this association is the main part of the second - 4 - chapter. The last chapter deals with the influence of Sudetendeutsche Landsmannschaft, especially of sudetendeutsche question, on the selected periods of Czech-German relationship. Strained elections in 2002 and complicated entry of the Czech Republic to the European Union which was caused by the attempts of the Sudetendeutschen representatives to violate the Beneš Desrees approved that Czech-German relationship on the government degree can be cooled under some circumstances. Ten years of the existence of the Czech-German Declaration shows that Czech-German relationship is from a long-term, complex view very good and that Sudetendeutsche...
