Řízení lidí v multikulturním prostředí

The main objective of the thesis was to define and analyze key aspects of managerial work in multicultural environment, in one of the Shared Services Center department, of multinational company based in Prague, Czech Republic. Further thesis aimed to define essential competencies of the successful manager and leader driving performance of multicultural department and provides recommendations to improve managerial performance in key aspects of manager s work such as communication, motivation, performance management and cross-cultural leadership. It is argued that presence of intercultural interactions between managers and their subordinates, impacts effectiveness of the managerial performance. Thesis consists of theoretical and practical part. First part of the thesis explores theoretical concepts regarding culture, communication, motivation and leadership with respect to multicultural environment specifics. In the second part, used research methods, conducted research analysis and outcomes are presented. Further in practical part recommendation towards analyzed aspects of managerial work that would lead to higher overall department performance are defined.

Communications Intercultural Aspect in Working Environment of a chosen Firm

The thesis covers cultural differences among employees of a multi-national corporation in relation to communication and task execution. Thesis aims to construct a theoretical framework to map these cultural differences and apply gathered insights in practical research targeting the effect of cultural differences on communication and task execution. Research questionnaire replicates Hofstede's work and also builds on practical application of Hofstede's work by several authors. Research data were gathered via digital questionnaire. Data refinement and evaluation was conducted using frequency description and statistical methods of structure comparison. The thesis provides a set of practical recommendations as a result. These are aimed to help reduce or possibly eliminate negative effects of cultural differences in the workplace.

Cultural Standards of New Zealand

This master thesis is focused on cultural standards of New Zealand. The main aim of this thesis is to define cultural standards of New Zealand and compare them with the theory. The first part of the diploma thesis is focused on theory of culture, cultural dimensions and standards, as well as different concepts of cultural dimensions applied on the Czech and New Zealand culture. The practical part describes the basic characteristics of the country, political and economical system, business dealings and diplomatic protocol. The last part is based on empirical research and defines cultural standards of New Zealand from the Czech perspective.

The Oriental Institute in Prague: Cultural Department and the Orient

A substantial contribution to Oriental studies was founded with a new institution, the Oriental Institute. The idea was promoted by the Czechoslovak president T. G. Masaryk and by his advisor in Oriental politics, Alois Musil. The institute was financially supported by the ministry of Foreign trade, the main role played Minister Rudolf Hotowetz (first director of the Oriental Institute). The Oriental Institute was established in 1922 and financially and functionally stabilised in 1927/1928. There were no permanent salaried posts; however, the cultural section of the Institute financed publications and travel by means of fellowships and grants.

The Finnish Landscape Photography and Its Role in Helsinki School

In my bachelor thesis I am focused on the images of the Finnish landscape photography and relationship to nature due to the harsh geographical conditions. I will describe the political and cultural influences that affected the aesthetic thinking about perception of scanned landscapes. Furthermore, I would like to deal with the influence by art that have shaped and inspired the Finnish authors and compare it with the perception of the country abroad. San Minn (or) An Artist who prefer creating and paintings than his life

No one can control a painter artist’s freely thoughts and ideas and although his paintings were under the high pressure and banned by force, the artistic value of his materials never go down. So that I am writing this paper. He, San Minn has broken out the mainstream of Burmese painting field, he never made business paintings as well. He keeps his belief on the art of paints and he is always finding for the new way to make his paintings. His materials are very different from other Burmese painter artists’ materials. His style is unique in Burmese paintings. So I can get a chance to study of his style, ideas, ways of thinking and his determination on the art works. My paper can show a painter artist’s life who grew up under the military rule for 50 years and the situation and history of Burmese painting field. Then not only people who are studying the painting subject, but also other people can know about the subject of Burmese painting and field of artists. I dare say that my paper must be colorful and fruitful. As a painter artist, it seems that he wants his audience to feel his materials but he rare to show his real life behind the pictures. For me, I can get a chance to know about his real life for my thesis paper. xxxxxxxxxx Thesis Statement My thesis can be useful for everybody who is interested in Burmese contemporary art field. This is the biggest chance to read about one of the most famous, important and significant artists and art movements of Burma. His paintings are reflecting his journey through over 40 years of censorship, but he was not afraid to tackle political and social issues. Many of San Minn's art works are based on autobiographical, making sharp social commentary on the popular culture, social values and scenario circumstances where he has lived in. xxxxxxxxxx

Corporate identity of cultural institutions

This thesis researches relationship between corporate identity and cultural environment. It explains and analyses key subjects such as graphic design, corporate image, corporate culture, corporate communication, corporate product, target group, symbol, brand, vision, mission etc. It is divided into three parts – first part contains definitions, second part contains analysis of two key studies – Na zábradlí Theatre and Josef Kajetán Tyl Theatre and then there’s third part, which merges the previous (theoretical and practical) into one, which should outline process of creating own brand identity. The last part is focused mostly on handling with corporate design. The thesis emphasizes necessity and reason of professional marketing approach to achieve rising brand equity and stable growth of any cultural corporation.

ATI and The Promotion of Czech Theater Abroad

This bachelor thesis examines the presentation of Czech theatre abroad mediated by the Arts and Theatre Institute (ATI), the state-funded organization of Ministry of Culture. It aims to map the possibilities which are by the ATI. The first part of the thesis contains the abstracts of the state strategic document which supports the presentation of the Czech culture and theatre in the foreign land. The second part the thesis summarizes the activity of the ATI and the International Cooperation and PR Department whose aim is the presentation of the Czech theatre outside the country. The third part of the thesis is the information based on the practical experience of the ATI and Czech Centers employees as the organizers of the presentation, and the Drak Theatre and the Naïve Theater Liberec employees as the representatives of the puppet theatre regarded by the ATI as the “export leaders”.

Cultural support in Prague's districts

Diploma thesis ”Cultural support in Prague's districts” focuses on a current situation in municipal strategical management and support of culture in all Prague districts. The introduction emphasises the importance of each level of government in the management and support of culture through comparing specific cultural policies. The research is divided into two parts. First one depicts how culture is being understood on the municipal level and presents an overview of existing instruments for support and planning. The second part is focused on a few municipal districts that handle their culture policy with a particular strategy and consider it to be an irreplaceable part of a local development. The second part also examines what tactics and tools these municipal districts use for a realization of their strategic goals. In conclusion, this thesis proves why the role of the local official government is so important in the developement and implementation of culture.
