The world's distinguished theoretical physicist Georg Placzek (1905-1955) cooperated with many legendary physicists of the first half of the twentieth century, yet this native of Brno is almost unknown in his homeland. Placzek's contributions to theoretical physics are important and still vivid. He was also an active participant of a number of history-making moments. In particular, he was a leader of a theoretical group in the Manhattan project – as the only citizen of Czechoslovakia. We bring many new facts, documents and photographs about Georg Placzek, his remarkable life, work and family. Many of these materials have never been published elsewhere.

Spherical rollers procees inovation by application of cold bulk forming

MACHAČ Stanislav: Spherical rollers process innovation by applicaton of cold bulk forming. Diploma thesis of the attendance engineer´s studies, Institute of technology, 2nd year, 2nd level – summer term, study group 5O / 51, school year 2007 / 2008. FSI VUT Brno, department of forming and plastics, May 2008, 75 pages, 6 tables, 4 enclosures. The topic of this thesis is production innovation of spherical rollers for bearings. The innovation is based on the technology of cold bulk forming. According to the literary research and according to the current stage of production is proposed and conceived manufacturing process for cold upsetting instead of turning using in current spherical rollers production. This manufacturing process is dedicated for the bearing type 22226EJ. The production process is conceived with regard to determinate knuckle-joint press LLR 1000 (Smeral Brno, a.s.). Also with regard to determinate half-closed die upsetting and with regard to formability of the steel 100CrMn6. The proposal and check-up of tool functional parts are designed regarding the current setting of particular parts of the press. In the next part of this thesis the proposal of work-room layout dedicated for hand-filling of semi-factured product is conceived. In conclusion the comparison of spherical roller production budget between cold upsetting and turning is conceived.

Pablo. G. del Amo - editing fragments

The thesis is an imaginary film which adopts the structure of Carlos Saura?s movie Elisa, vida mía (Elisa, my life, Spain 1976). Main ?characters? are the editor Pablo G. del Amo, the directors Carlos Saura and Víctor Erice and the producer Elías Querejeta, all of whom have left a profound trace on the history of Spanish cinema in the second half of the 20th century. However, my film is confined to the period between 1965 and 1976, marking the beginning of their collaboration. They aimed to shoot authorial movies, to reach certain continuity of the work and to comment as much as possible on the political situation ? this was the period when General Franco?s regime was almost over. Another aim of Querejeta?s production was to draw out discerning viewers, i.e. to prove that such an audience already existed.
Elisa, my life, Saura?s most personal film, closes one period of work of all the ?characters?, and marks a certain turning point. Elisa leads my film through its work with space-time and motives to tell about the chosen period and films from certain points of view. Structuring my thesis on a film enables me to work with different kinds of materials: historical facts, contemporary press, film analyses and autobiographical information. This creates different mutually intertwining lines. The story of Pablo G. del Amo?s life is so essential for his decision to dedicate his entire life to cinema, that several sequences have been devoted to him. My film should provide the same reminiscent approach characteristic of the researched material. The theme of memory gives impulses to the characters to move in space and time, to their childhood, imagination and dreams. Memory ? personal as well as of the whole society ? is understood not only by means of remembering, but also of intentional forgetting.

Professional preparation on spanish nurses and their job opportunities

The goal of bachelor's thesis is to analyze the evolution of the profesional preparation of Spanish nurses. Enrols the frst atemptt to systematization of nursing education of laic nurses in the 1st half of the 19th century. Follonws the proces of the profesional career and institutional establishment of the Spanish nursing system in the end od the 19th century and in the begining of the 20th century. Describes the unification of various nurse professionals during the age of Franto's dictatorship, (1939-1975), and informs the readers about the proces of transformation of nursing education during the democracy period. The initiation of Spanish nursing education in the University, in 1978. was a very significant moment in the Spanish nursing history. A qualitative observational study was carried out to document the content that the Spanish nurses actualy have about their educational system and completes with the information about the job opportunities of the 12 informants.

An analysis of the possible consequences of Russia's accession to the WTO.

Russia's entry to the WTO opens a new page in the countries economical life, which market is gradually opening. The main aim of this thesis is to analyze the entry impact on the various economic sectors and economy as a whole, to evaluate the impacts extent and to show advantages and disadvantages, the membership brings. The Bachelor Thesis examines trends and structural problems of the Russian economy and trade, changes in tariff rates after the accession, and adaptation to changes after joining WTO. The Thesis deals with the problem of Dutch disease in Russia, the development of the commodity structure of Russian trade, and GDP structure changes during the first half-year of the membership in the organization.
