Implementation of the Smart Metering Systems in Energetics in Slovakia

The goal of the Master´s thesis is to map the actual situation of transformation of power energy sector to smart grid, find answers to some of the major questions concerning the implementation of smart metering systems, evaluate societal and economic costs and benefits, evaluate trends in legislation, compare the situation in Slovakia with other peer countries from the European Union, and create a follow-up recommendations for Slovakia based on this assessment. The thesis includes detailed critical analysis of the CBA, originally created for Slovakia, using benchmarking with countries with a different calculation approach. The used methodology in this work is a research of available resources, qualitative research of case studies, break-down of the CBA, and expert research through interviewing. The outcome is evaluation of economic and societal contributions of smart metering systems and mapping the process and state of the implementation.

Migration to selected EU countries: Labor market integration

The aim of this master thesis is to analyse the labor market of European Union and its certain countries in relation to the immigration with the backgound of various social welfare models. The paper is analysing the topic of labor market of European Union, integration of immigrants on this market, with focus on economies and labour markets of Sweden, United Kingdom and Germany as countries with high level of immigration that are representing three different social welfare models, such as Nordic model, Liberal model and Conservative model. The main objective of this thesis is the analysis of labor markets in selected countries of the European Union in relation to immigration and their subsequent comparison using the background of different social welfare models. The result is the evaluation of effectivness of the various social models based on statistical data, acquired knowledge and performed comparisons. The thesis is divided into four chapters and contains 13 tables and 8 charts.

European funds and their usage for logistics projects in Czech Republic.

The thesis discusses the issue of freight villages and the possible usage of European funds for their construction. The topic is very actual because by the current program period 2014-2020 has appeared change concerning the financial support of multimodal freight transportation. The aim of this thesis is to determine, whether from the production companies operating in the automotive industry exists demand for such a freight villages. Needed information has been obtained on the basis of in-depths inteviews of manufacturing companies located in the region Vysočina.

The GIS support to measures on the ground in case of leakage of liquid pollutant on the road

Accidents on roads associated with the leakage of hazardous substances are one of the major challenges encountered by disaster management. Because of the impossibility of predicting the place and time of the event, then it is necessary in the event of such an accident to proceed in quick succession of steps. They are designed primarily to protect human life and health, and then to minimize to property and environment damage. The paper describes the response to this event using GIS tools and generally available geodata. The simulated accident on the D1 highway near Ostrava is applied as a demonstration example.

Global Economy Outlook - December 2016

Global Economic Outlook presents the regular monthly overview of recent and expected developments in selected territories, focusing on key economic variables: inflation, GDP growth, leading indicators, interest rates, exchange rates and commodity prices. In this issue, we also focus on a major phenomenon of the day: the migration of people into Europe, and Germany in particular. In this context, we present an analysis of the effect of the increased number of refugees on the German labour market. We show, among other things, that the incoming migrants will be far from enough to cover the demand for labour in Germany and also that they will compete more with workers arriving in search of jobs in Germany from Central and Eastern European countries than with German citizens.

Implementation of European legislation into the legal order of the Czech Republic

AAAAbstractbstractbstractbstract The main purpose of my thesis is to analyse how Czech legal order deals with the obligation to implement European legislation, and also, how it is affected by the process of implementation. The thesis consists of two major parts. Part One describes the European law system from the point of view of its effects on a national law; the direct effect as well as the obligation to implement the EU law into national legal acts are considered. Part Two is divided into six chapters; each chapter deals with a different aspect of Czech obligation to implement and apply the EU law. Czech government is the main legislative initiator and has developed detailed rules for preparing government bills. However, the praxis is far from ideal. Both chambers of Czech Parliament are affected by serious lack of interest in the process of implementation. The Constitutional court provides a constantly growing judicature of open-minded interpretation of the national law with respect to the EU law. On the other hand, it shows a surprising reluctance to refer for a preliminary ruling at the Court of Justice of the European Union. Growth dividend from the financial markets integration in the Eurozone after the adoption of the single currency

The introduction of the common currency in part of the European Union was a landmark event. It raised eyebrows, expectations and gloomy forecasts. Optimists saw the currency bringing about efficiencies in variety of different ways and industries. This thesis is preoccupied with financial markets. The thesis of this work is that Euro triggered integration on financial markets in countries that joined the project of common currency. The work is trying to gauge this ongoing financial integration and find a measure that would represent it. After finding this measure it is a goal of this paper to estimate if the ongoing financial integration contributed to higher growth prospects in the economies involved.

Impact of the European Cohesion Policy in Central Bohemia Region

This thesis evaluates the impact of European Cohesion Policy in Central Bohemia Region with focus on Podlipansko region. The thesis is focused on activities of the Local Action Group Podlipansko in the programming period 2007 - 2013.
The theoretical part deals with the regional policy of the European Union, including the financial instruments of regional policy and the principles of regional policy. Following section is dedicated to the development of cohesion policy in the Czech Republic
and cohesion regions.
At the beginning of the practical part of the thesis, Central Bohemia Region and the activities of the local action groups are described. Next section is dedicated to the activities of the Local Action Group Podlipansko in Podlipansko region. Activities of the Local Action Group Podipansko are evaluated through the monitoring indicator analysis.
The results of public inquiry among residents of the region are addressed as well.
The closing part assesses if the activities of the Local Action Groups are beneficial for the development of rural areas.

Intraday Dynamics of Euro Area Sovereign Credit Risk Contagion

We examine the role of the CDS and bond markets during and before the recent euro area sovereign debt crisis as transmission channels for credit risk contagion between sovereign entities. We analyse an intraday dataset for GIIPS countries as well as Germany, France and central European countries. Our findings suggest that, prior to the crisis, the CDS and bond markets were similarly important in the transmission of financial shock contagion, but that the importance of the bond market waned during the crisis. We find flight-to-safety effects during the crisis in the German bond market that are not present in the pre-crisis sample. Our estimated sovereign risk contagion was greater during the crisis, with an average timeline of one to two hours in GIIPS countries. By using an exogenous macroeconomic news shock, we can show that, during the crisis period, increased credit risk was not related to economic fundamentals. Further, we find that central European countries were not affected by sovereign credit risk contagion, independent of their debt level and currency.
