Implementation of lean manufacturing and application of Kaizen management in small and middle company
KUBÍČEK, Roman
The thesis deals with the application of the Lean manufacturing and Kaizen ma-nagement in processes of production and logistics management and selected tools and techniques of lean manufacturing and Kaizen management. The research of the imple-mentation of the Lean manufacturing was conducted at the production departments of the company. It is necessary to involve the processes principles. We can say, that the introduction of lean manufacturing principles and application of Kaizen management is a significant competitive advantage. The aim of tools supporting the implementation of the principles of the Lean manufacturing and Kaizen management is the elimination of wasting, improving response to customer´s demands. The keeping of the principles of company culture with the transition from the concept company to concept my (our) company. These principles are applicable to systems in the mass production and the small batch production. The some methods and tools are applicable in the area of services and public administration. We can say, that into each activity can be found reserves which are wasting about the Lean manufacturing. We are able to reduce or eli-minate them with use right tools. The subject of research are a never-ending changes the set up manufacturing processes during the implementation of Lean manufacturing and next application of Kaizen management. The changes which were done was not concern only for new set of material flow, workplace layout, leveling and optimization work, but also changes focused to thinking of people who are involved in these changes or the changes affecting them. To evaluace of the success and applicability of the newly introduced methods were set up measurable indicators and methodology of their eva-luation. The results which are presented are important for the company where the re-search was conducted. The outputs is important for other companies and recommen-dations of general application can help their further development and help to futher de-velop scientic knowledges.

Economic research bulletin (2007, No.1)
Heřmánek, Jaroslav ; Hlaváček, Michal ; Jakubík, Petr ; Geršl, Adam ; Derviz, Alexis ; Podpiera, Jiří ; Šmídková, Kateřina
This issue of the CNB Research Bulletin looks at advances in the area of financial stability. Financial stability issues have attracted the attention of central banks in the last 10 years, mainly due to the rapid development of financial systems, the emergence of new financial products and the increased integration of the financial system across borders. These issues are extremely important for the Czech financial sector as well. One of the most widely used analytical tools for evaluating the stability of the financial sector is stress testing. The first article – by Jaroslav Heřmánek, Petr Jakubík and Michal Hlaváček – describes progress in this area as compared to earlier versions of stress testing. Progress has been made primarily in the areas of modelling credit risk and linking the stress testing to the CNB’s official macroeconomic forecast. The second and third articles – by Adam Geršl and by Alexis Derviz and Jiří Podpiera – are devoted to the issue of cross border-contagion in the Czech Republic. This problem is of great importance for the Czech Republic due to the strong foreign ownership of the Czech banking sector and the increasing crossborder flows of capital. The article by Adam Geršl uses macroeconomic data from BIS and compares the threats of cross-border contagion from other CEECs using a common creditor index. The article by Alexis Derviz and Jiří Podpiera presents the results of a sophisticated microeconomic model of lending contagion within multinational banking groups together with an empirical model of lending contagion using individual bank data from Bankscope.

MONDIS: Knowledge-Based System of Failure of Historical Constructions
Valach, Jaroslav ; Cacciotti, Riccardo ; Čerňanský, Martin ; Kuneš, Petr
The main aim of introducing and developing a knowledge-based system of failure of historical constructions called MONDIS is to overcome a lack of data on defects of monuments. MONDIS proposes a methodology capable of reproducing the logical relationship between the manifestation of damage, its diagnosis and the possible interventions. Based on novel information sciences tools, like semantic technologies, the system will be able to assist users in finding similar failures cases, in analyzing the causes of damage and also suggesting suitable restoration techniques accordingly to conservation principles of intervention.

Tools for Decision Making under Uncertainty
Sečkárová, Vladimíra
In this paper we focus on two often considered distinct aims, namely maximizing of an utility function (e.g. an investment profit) and getting a more reliable global description of considered situation based on observed data (e.g. the final outcome of databases merging). In both cases we face the problem, that the data are unreliable, since they contain uncertainty caused by their source (i.e. human being). If we are looking for the optimum of the former aim, a game theory reformulation of the decision making task brings a smoother way to reach it. If the latter aim is considered, a merging procedure (also called fusion) processing the data should help us. This paper describes four recently developed methods dealing with decision making under uncertainty in two considered directions and one tool used for comparison of the fusion algorithms.

Methods Psychologism of Missioning Religions
PLOS, Michal
Author´s research has led to the processing of psychologism theory as a tool to detect the methodological procedure of doctrine of Jehova´s Witnesses, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, The Bahai Faith, Haifan Bahaism from movement management, through the movement medium to the seeker and to what extent can these doctrines manipulate the seeker. The thesis attempts to extract the thinking core within new religious movements, as a prerequisite for the detection of intentions of the mentioned movements, and also it tries to extract analogous statements about how these movements may develop in the future stages of their existence. The basic tool of academic study and view: comparison, psychology of religion.

Evolutionary origins of intracellular symbionts in arthropods
HUSNÍK, Filip
Intracellular symbionts are widespread among arthropods, particularly within insects. Obligate symbiotic associations are known to have originated multiple times between the arthropods feeding on nutrient-poor diets and bacteria from various groups. However, exact phylogenetic positions and relationships among these symbiotic lineages are mostly unclear or vague. This thesis consists of an exemplary case study on the most symbiont-rich bacterial group, Enterobacteriaceae, already published in BMC Biology. It uses advanced phylogenetic tools and extended taxonomic sample to establish phylogenetic relationships among individual symbiotic lineages and their phylogenetic affinity to freeliving relatives. To provide it with broader background, the publication is accompanied by a review on general evolutionary forces influencing origin and maintenance of intracellular symbiosis in arthropods. Apart from overviewing the current known diversity of the symbiotic bacteria, it also points out specific drawbacks in inferring symbionts phylogeny and consequences that can phylogeny have on our understanding of intracellular symbiosis.

Hardness distribution mapping in low carbon pipeline steel using semiautomatic evaluation of Vickers indentation measurement
Doktor, T. ; Fenclová, N. ; Kytýř, Daniel ; Valach, Jaroslav
This paper deals with evaluation of hardness fields using Vickers indentation device and a semi-automatic software tool for local hardness distribution mapping. Spec- imens from low carbon pipeline steels were investigated. Dense grids of Vickers imprints were created on the specimens’ surface. Image data of the surface were acquired by a high resolution flatbed scanner with resolution 6400 dpi. The imprints were measured using an custom-developed image processing tool, and from the obtained geometrical characteristics local hardness values were derived. From the local hardness values and their coordinates the hardness field in the whole specimen was interpolated.

Participatory Design of Academic Libraries
Foster, Nancy
Participatory design is a process by which the people who will use a space, a service, or a tool are involved in its conceptualization and development. Traditionally, a narrow range of experts, such as architects, engineers, or computer scientists, decided what people needed and how it would be built. Even today, library buildings and especially catalogs and other library technology are built in this traditional way, and this is why they are often so hard to use. The alternative is to consider that the people who use libraries are experts in an important sense: they are expert in how they do research. In academic libraries, the participatory design process allows us to capture information about how people do scholarly work and how that work may best be supported. In this talk, I will argue for the quality and value of the information we gather as part of the participatory design process. I will explain how we collect information through photo elicitation, mapping activities, workshops and traditional interviews; how it can help us understand the academic work process and how people learn of and obtain information; and how libraries and universities can use such design processes to help their researchers do their best work and their students make the most of their academic opportunities.
