Transforming Democracy in the Digital Age: The Cambridge Analytica and Facebook Scandal

This bachelor's thesis focuses on the issue of the adaptation of democracy to the increasing influence of digitization. First, in the introductory part, the context is set in the ongoing debate about the given issue within the experts. After that, key concerns about democracy in the digital age, the attitudes of optimists and pessimists, and the possibilities of using social networks in political campaigns are presented. Subsequently, the practical part contains qualitative research, which is carried out using the case study method. The chosen case study is the misuse of data in the Brexit campaign, also known as the "Cambridge Analytica & Facebook scandal". The final part deals with the reaction of the European Union and the attitude towards the current measures. The aim of the thesis is to point out the issue of misuse of digital platforms in the framework of political campaigns and the violation of the basic principles of democracy. The thesis seeks an answer to the main research question leaked in the introduction: "Can we consider the way in which the European Union responded to the growing influence of technology in political campaigns to be sufficient?". Comany Cambridge Analytica influencing the results of political elections around the world

The main topic of this thesis is company Cambridge Analytica and its influence in some of the elections around the world. In theoretical part it explains elementary concepts to understand the second part of the work. The first part contains internet, new media, web ě.0 and social sites, mainly Facebook. There is also a focus on political marketing and it studies scientific concepts like confirmation bias and echo chamber. The second part is introducing the main player of the work, Cambridge Analytica and, furthermore, fluently moving to main affairs - the 2016 US presidential election and brexit the same year. Last but not least, the work focuses on Kenya and Nigeria presidential elections intervention and it touches a possible influence in Czech Republic which is not proven yet.
Competence of lower secondary school pupils while using social network sites

This bachelor thesis deals with the risk of connecting and using social network from the point of view of sharing private data by primary school students. The author focuses on data protection againts misuse, accumulation of information and sharing personal information of youthful. In this bachelor thesis he desribes requirements of using social networks, risks of using and comparing social networks with respect to data accumulation. The main aim is to figure out, with using a research, how youthful approach to social networks, find out what kinds of data they share, why they share them and whether data are not misused. The author uses a questionnaire survey and analyses chosen issues with using statistical method chi-square statistic. He also compares processed data to the variety of factors verify and analyses differences between separate groups.
Data Loss Prevention

The aim of this thesis is to provide basic information from the field of the data loss prevention. In theoretical part, fundamental principles and options of DLP will be described, including reasons why use this type of protection. Next, in practical part, will be described establishment and testing of selected functions provided by open-source DLP solutions. There are just few comprehensive materials regarding the DLP in Czech language, so this thesis should be used for acquiring basic information for this technology field.
