Optimizing the number of nursing staff in intensive care and resuscitation department for adults
Burišková, Klára ; Strnadová, Alice (advisor) ; Novotná, Jindra (referee)
Over the last few years there has been a significant differentiation of medical professions. At the same time their role and position has changed in the nursing process. Genesis of new professions and distribution of employees in the work field, based on their expertise, has led to changes in the work organization in individual departments. Therefore we can encounter highly specialized care in the intensive care departments, which places on its staff a number of specialized requirements. Aim of this thesis was to map the positions of individual workers and especially on the application of medical assistants. The thesis continues on with the issue of setting the optimal amount of nursing staff in the intensive care departments. Outcome of the thesis is that workers under supervision are currently not finding the proper use. However, in the future, we can count on more of these workers, in the intensive care units, to be more needed. Thesis conclusion is dedicated to available options of setting standards in order to calculate the necessary amount of nursing staff. keywords: competence, paramedical professions, headcount optimisation, scoring system in health care nurse, health assistant,

(v AJ) Through the bachelor thesis I open the issue of dental literacy for non-medical health workers. The World Health Organization points out the importance of high health literacy and health education. The theoretical part describes health literacy, anatomy and pathology of oral cavity and current knowledge of literacy in dentistry. The basis for the work I drew mainly on the basis of the research in the National Medical Library. From the catalog of the National Medical Library Medvik, the BMC database (Bibliographia medica čechoslovaca), the specialized databases CINAHL (Cumulative Index to Nursing and Allied Health Literature) and MEDLINE (Medical Literature Analysis and Retrieval System Online), from a personal source of professional literature, expert consultation with dental doctors and dental hygienists, own experience and other bachelor theses. The aim of this work is to create an information leaflet to address health professionals in the field of care. Methods: The work was elaborated on the basis of quantitative research by means of anonymous non-standardized questionnaire in printed form. The target group was non-medical health professionals. Macinauerová, Katarína ; Prošková, Eva (advisor) ; Lukášová Jeřábková, Lenka (referee)
This bachelor's thesis deals with comparison of auxiliary nursing professions in Slovakia and the Czech Republic. After the split of Czechoslovakia in 1993, there were a number of changes in health legislation. This work provides a comprehensive view of the development and current situation of health care assistants, auxiliary nurses, nurses and health care workers. The objectives of this work were to compare the development of individual professions, the concept of education, the possibilities of lifelong learning and professional association. The aim of the work was also to describe the actual performances, performed by auxiliary nursing staff and the legal requirements for the competencies of these professions. Through the form of a questionnaire survey, a survey was carried out between the auxiliary nursing staff in both countries, which showed that there was a significant overrun of competencies in both Slovak and Czech respondents. The provision of high-quality nursing care is currently highlighted. Student motivation for studies at secondary medical schools / for university studies to earn a Bachelor of Medicine´s degree
JELENECKÁ, Hana
This thesis focuses on student motivation for studies at secondary medical schools, as well as on drivers of motivation of secondary medical school students for Bachelor studies. We wanted to know how motivation of present-day students differs from that of general nurses attending medical schools prior to 2004 and what is the impact of practical training teachers of secondary medical schools on professional motivation of students. Theoretical part describes development of nursing care education since 1945 until now, changes in concept of nursing care as they result from Act no. 96/ 2004 Coll. on ?acquiring and recognition of qualifications for execution of non-doctoral medical professions and activities relating to provision of health care and on amending some related legislation?. Further, we focused on job selection and its factors, and last but not least, on motivation and some motivational drivers. The first objective was to find out what motivates students of secondary medical schools in their first and fourth years. The second objective was to look at motivation of students for General Nurse Bachelor studies. The third objective was to describe motivation of general nurses for studies at secondary medical schools prior to 2004. Finally, the last objective was to find out how practical training teachers of secondary medical schools motivate students for their future profession. In the thesis empirical part, we used methods of qualitative and quantitative research. As far as quantitative research is concerned, anonymous questionnaires were used to collect data. The first population of 102 (100%) respondents included first-year students of three secondary medical schools. The second research population of 100 (100%) respondents included fourth-year students of three secondary medical schools. The third population of 107 (100%) respondents included general nurses of two medium-size hospitals. As far as qualitative research is concerned, questioning method and, in particular, semi-structured interview technique were used. A population of six practical training teachers of two secondary medical schools was involved. These practical training teachers were asked two questions: 1. Is there enough time scheduled for practical training to motivate students? 2. In your opinion, are motivational drivers used in practical training sufficient to get medical assistants involved in the practical training nursing process? Quantitative research has the following results: the first assumption that first-year students were influenced more by external motivational drivers than by internal ones, was not borne out. The second assumption that fourth-year students perceived acquired experience as a more significant motivational driver than external motivation, was not borne out either. The third assumption that motivation of students of secondary medical schools for university studies was depending on experience acquired in practical training was not borne out either. Similarly, the last assumption that motivation of students of secondary medical schools prior to 2004 was depending on the then existing value system, was not borne out either. On the other hand, it is clear from qualitative research that practical training teachers do not have enough time to motivate students and that motivational elements used not always achieve their defined goals. This often results from excessive number of students per group. The above research results will be provided to medical schools for thein self- examination. They may also be used for professional public at specialist seminars or congresses as well as for publication in specialized journals.
Nursingl Assistant - contribution to the quality of professional nursing care
BROŽOVÁ, Miroslava
The diploma is focused on a status of adhering to medical assistent?s competence. Contribution and use of this profesion in modern professional nursing is ambiguous and problematic in nursing practice. Nurse managers, nurses and medical assistents had participated in this survey. The survey took part, with head nurse?s approval, in hospitals of Central Bohemian region and Prague. The diploma is dividend into two parts, theoretical and practical. In practical part we have chosen to use a quantitative survey method. Then we have used a questionnaire method to collect data. Questionnaires were anonymous. The first group consisted of nurse managers in a count of 90 (100%) respondents. The sekond group consisted of nurses and medical assistents in a count of 181 (100%) respondents. The first goal of the diploma was to discover how medical assistents competence is being fulfilled according to legal standards. The survey discovered that medical assistents assignments are above standard legal competence. After proccessing the results of the quantitative survey, the first theory, that medical assistents are instructed to adhere to their competence, was disproved. The second goal was to assess the status of medical assistents in current professional nursing. In our survey we?ve defined a theory, that medical assistent?s competence contributes to an efficiency of a whole medical team. Results discovered, that medical asistent is an adequate member of a medical team, this theory was confirmed. The last goal of the diploma was to find out management point of view on use and involvement of this non-medical profesion in providing a high-quality nursing care. The third theory of the survey, that management prefers nurses to medical assistents, was also confirmed. These results confirm the current situation of this issue. Discovered results will be provided to medical facilities as a self-reflective and nursing activity improving materials.
