Selected physiotherapeutic aspects in patients with whiplash disability - systematic review
Doušková, Aneta ; Pavlů, Dagmar (advisor) ; Stupková, Michaela (referee)
The work is processed in the form of a systematic research. It is about issues related to whiplash syndrome, such as etiology, diagnosis and therapy. The aim of the systematic literature research was to find out what physiotherapeutic procedures have been used for the last five years in the treatment of whiplash syndrome and which procedure appears to be the most effective in reducing pain and improving range of motion. The studies were searched in the following databases: EBSCOhost, PubMed, ScienceDirect, Scopus and Springer. The corresponding studies were searched using keywords which were then sorted using the established criteria. In the final count, 10 studies were identified. Five studies out of ten examined the effect of the procedure of therapy on behavioral intervention in combination with the specific exercise and individual needs of the individual. This therapy focuses as much as possible on the needs and goals of the individual. In the last five years, the effect of distance therapy has been studied in the treatment of whiplash syndrome again with an emphasis on the needs of a particular person. More variables need to be taken to assess the effectiveness of approaches and further studies on therapy of whiplash syndrome would be needed to accurately determine the effect. Keywords...

Kadeřábková, Diana ; Pavlů, Dagmar (advisor) ; Vomáčková, Helena (referee)
Title: Whiplash syndrome-evaluation of the therapy effect through various physiotherapeutic approaches Objectives: The aim of this diploma thesis is to find out which treatment method is the best suited for the reduction of the convalescence period in an acute whiplash syndrome and how the treatment can the most effectively affect chronic whiplash syndrome. This thesis also summarizes the most recent knowledge regarding this issue. Methods: The diploma thesis is processed in the form of a literary review, it has an analytic descriptive character. The thesis is divided into two parts, the first part deals with the theoretical point of view and the second part deals with the thesis methodology together with results. The theoretical part is dedicated to the problematic itself and physiotherapeutic methods used in the treatment of whiplash syndrome in the form of passive and active approaches. The second part describes a criteria methodology for studies which are included in the thesis. Conclusions of the studies are discussed together with their effects. Results: A total of 23 studies have been selected for this thesis. The recommended threatment for the acute whiplash syndrome is a form of the active approach. From the physiotherapeutical methods perspective - The McKenzie Method and therapeutic...

Methods: In the first part we take the WAD into pieces by summing up the available theoretical information about the patogenesis, diagnostics and the treatment of the whiplash syndrome. The thesis also describes the anatomical features in the concerned area and the biomechanics of cervical spine. The special part is a case study of a patient with the described diagnosis and the presentation of a physical therapy treatment including its effectivity evaluation at the end of this thesis.
