Patterns of coping with cancer

Cancer is still one of the most feared disease. The communication of diagnosis and the subsequent treatment process are very psychologically demanding for the patient. The aim of the bachelor thesis was to look at this difficult life situation and to map, describe and analyze the ways in which it can be coped. The theoretical part of the thesis describes cancer, the process of coping with an unfavourable diagnosis, sources of support for cancer patients and conditions of personal growth. The practical part uses the design of qualitative research. In-depth interviews are used to find out the experiences of people who have overcome cancer. The research group consists of 5 respondents, including 2 men and 3 women. The process of their experience and coping with the disease, balancing the sources of support and burden and the consequences of this experience on their current lives are monitored.
Psychological aspects of parents'coping with premature childbirth

The Bachelor's Thesis deals with the issue of premature birth in terms of psychological experience of parents of preterm babies. The work is mainly focused on the mother's psychological coping with this experience. The theoretical part contains the basic theoretical knowledge of preterm baby and its health and psychological specifics as well as the mothers' experiences in the preterm birth event and the relationship between the mother and the baby after the preterm birth. The options of a psychological support for these mothers are also the important part of this work. The empirical part consists of a qualitative research whose main objective is to describe how mothers were experiencing the preterm birth and how they coped with this event. Due to nature of the study the half-structured interview method and the data processing method of the grounded theory were selected. The conclusion compares the theoretical conception of prof. Zdeněk Matějček to the results of my own research.
Influence of sensory deprivation on development of a child with a hearing impairment

Abstrackt The thesis Influence of sensory deprivation on development of a child with a hearing impairment is, as the name suggests, focused on stimulus effect subdeprivation / deprivation of a child with hearing impairment. The thesis is based on the parental views of the situation. The thesis is focused on finding situations in which the subdeprivation / deprivation occurs and searchs for their specific impacts on development of a child. Part of the thesis is also devoted to the issue of compensatory strategies that parents use in the management of risk subdeprivation / deprivation. On the basis of Czech and foreign literature it is defined there theoretically and practically in what the development of a child can be affected and in what may be the development of a child with hearing impairment specific. Attention is also paid to how the situation affects parental compensatory strategies. The theoretical part of the thesis is devoted to the issue subdeprivation / deprivation in general. Further specifics of the situation of deprivation of a child with hearing impairment (specific early interaction, attachment) are considered. The Impact of Involuntary Childlessness on Partner relationship

The topic of this thesis is involuntary childlessness and its impact on partner relationships. The theoretical part describes theories which try to explain, why people want to have children; here the knowledge about infertility, its therapy and other ways of solving this problem are summarized. The next part of the thesis deals with involuntary childlessness and its psychosocial aspects; special attention is paid to involuntary childlessness in connection to partner relationships. This part also summarizes the coping strategies of partners and presents the possible ways of psychological help for them. The empirical part was implemented by using the qualitative research, the semi-structured interviews and the method of Inclusion of Other in the Self scale. Total of 11 respondents took part, all women and each of them with experience in the area of involuntary childlessness. This part presents answers on the questions about the sense of parenthood for involuntarily childless women, their emotions and partner relationships. It surveys the areas of partner relationships, which were affected by the involuntary childlessness and describes what happens in relationship during this experience.
