Development of Tourism in a Marginal Region: The Case of Boleticko
Válek, Bohumil ; Fialová, Dana (advisor) ; Krajňák, Tomáš (referee)
The territory of the Boletice Military Training Area and its surrounding areas have been undergoing dynamic development since the 1990s. This development is also reflected in the intended use of this space for tourism. The aim of this thesis is to evaluate the current development of tourism in the Boletice region and to compare the significance of tourism for the surrounding municipalities with regard to the presence of the military training area. To achieve this goal, the method of content analysis of postcards from information centres in the area and the method of semi-structured interviews with the representatives of the municipalities located near the military training area were employed. The research indicates that municipalities with lower tourism intensity perceive the presence of tourists more due to the accessibility of the Boletice Military Training Area. The limited depiction of Boletice on postcards signifies its lesser significance compared to the surroundings tourist areas. Keywords Tourism - military training area - soft tourism - marginal area - Boleticko

Hušnerová, Eliška ; Čábelka, Miroslav (advisor) ; Šára, Pavel (referee)
The main objective of this bachelor's thesis is to design and create a thematic Atlas of military districts in the Czech republic, including a map key. A sub-objective is to perform an analysis of the portrayal of military districts in the Czech republic on maps of the Stable Cadastre, the 3rd military mapping, aerial photographs from the 1950s and the current orthophoto. At the beginning of the thesis, a literature search on military districts is carried out, which is a necessary starting point for the creation of the thematic part of the Atlas of military districts in the Czech republic. The theoretical part follows, where the definition of military districts and their development is presented. It also includes a description of the functioning military districts of Boletice, Březina, Hradiště and Libavá, focused on history, natural conditions and current military use of the territory. The next part is devoted to the analysis of portrayal of military districts on old maps and aerial photographs. In the practical part of the thesis, methods of creating the atlas are described, which is followed by a discussion and conclusions, where the results of the thesis are summarized and possible improvements and extensions are discussed. Key words: Military district, thematic atlas, thematic cartography, ArcGIS
The Influence of Military Area on Population Development of the Town Milovice
Kusovská, Marie ; Šídlo, Luděk (advisor) ; Fialová, Ludmila (referee)
The Influence of Military Area on Population Development of the Town Milovice Abstract The objective of this study is to describe population development of the town Milovice, which was influenced by the existence of a military area in its neighbourhood. There were situated several armies during its 88 years history. Each army, especially the last Soviet Army, built many housing units in the area. New residents have been moving into the town since the ongoing building reconstructions started, in the 90s. The residents are mostly young couples or families witch children, which is a typical phenomenon for suburban areas. There have been a significant rejuvenation of the town's age structure, for example in 2008 the average age was 29,8 years. The study is focused on the period of 1991-2008, in which the particular components of population development are described using selected indicators. Their level is compared with the level of the Czech Republic. A finding is being concluded that a high proportion of people at young age in the population of Milovice causes differences in the development of certain indicators, such as the total fertility rate, which was significantly higher than in the Czech Republic. In conclusion, there are outlined possible variations of the town's future population development.
Military Area as a Determinant of Microregion Population Development
Kusovská, Marie ; Šídlo, Luděk (advisor) ; Fialová, Ludmila (referee)
Military Area as a Determinant of Microregion Population Development Marie Kusovská Abstract The study deals with military area as a specific factor of microregion population development. The objective of the study is to describe and demonstrate the different effects of current and former military areas on neighbourhood population's demographic behaviour. The analysis is focused on the period of 1995-2010 and takes place in five current military areas: Boletice, Brdy, Březina, Hradiště and Libavá and three former military areas: Mladá (today's municipality Milovice), Ralsko and Dobrá Voda. The study examines the population development and its structure, natural and mechanical movement, including an analysis of migration directions. There is a finding that the municipality Milovice and Ralsko differs significantly from other areas in young age structure, high levels of total fertility rate and the intensity of immigration. At the level of mortality no significant differences were indicated. Therefore, it appears that a military area can be considered as a determinant of microregion population development, but it depends on the military uses of this area and in case of its cancelation it depends on the future civilian use.
The Former Military District Libavá: the Establishment of the New Municipal Political System
Václavíková, Michaela ; Jüptner, Petr (advisor) ; Čopík, Jan (referee)
This thesis focuses on optimization of military estates in the Czech Republic that is connected both to establishment of new municipalities and transition from military administration to local administration. The thesis tries to describe the process itself being finished by setting settlement units aside from military estates, reduction of their borders and dissolution of the Brdy military estate. A case study of the Libavá Town is also a part of the thesis. The study is trying to monitor the impact of the transition mentioned above on civil population and on the newly established local administration. Three methods were used to collect the data - namely half structured interviews with chief participants, a survey amongst Libavá inhabitants and media monitoring. A part of the theoretical part is also an analysis of military estates in Europe whose characteristics and differences are also presented.

Evaluation of the land cover in the military training area Libavá using Random Forest classifier
Žďánský, Vít ; Štych, Přemysl (advisor) ; Laštovička, Josef (referee)
Data land cover help us understand nature, how it develops, its uses and the influence that human actions have on it. Thanks to new methods in the remote sensing area, we can record these processes faster and at a larger scale than before. This thesis evaluates accuracy of the Random Forest (RF) and Maximum Likelihood (ML) classifiers using satellite data Sentinel-2 from the military training area Libavá. The military area went through a very specific development and the information regarding natural coverage in the region is missing. The classifier documentation contains 8 classes. The classification results from both algorithms are higher than 80 %. As expected, more accurate results were achieved using the Random Forest classifier. The most accurate classifications were of water surfaces and forests. The least accurate classifications were of agricultural land and sparse vegetation. Other classes varied in accuracy levels. This thesis' results are evaluated using error matrices, overall accuracy and the kappa coefficient. Keywords: classification, Random Forest, Maximum Likelihood, military training area, remote sensing, Sentinel 2, land cover, Libavá

Sustainable tourism development in the Brdy Protected Landscape Area
Petzová, Terezie ; Kouřilová, Jana (advisor) ; Pělucha, Martin (referee)
The diploma thesis deals with the development of sustainable tourism in protected areas. The aim of the thesis is to evaluate the possibilities of sustainable tourism development in the protected area. The theoretical part of the thesis deals with the issue in general terms. The problem is practically solved on the example of Brdy Protected Landscape Area (PLA). An identification for localization and implementation conditions for the development of sustainable tourism has been realized within the analysis of the examined areas potential. This identification was conducted as an empirical investigation with the representatives of the interested municipalities, local action groups and other organizations. The acquired knowledge has been reviewed with the PLA representatives opinions. Summarizing all gained knowledge, the PLA Brdy has been assessed as area that fulfils the prerequisites for the sustainable tourism development. Due to the character of the area, the development must be implemented only in the environment friendly forms.
