The thesis explores the opportunities offered by art education in supporting the social relations amongst pupils with a different mother tongue. It investigates the potential of artistic practices of art education in promoting understanding among pupils; specifically in the integration of Ukrainian pupils who have come to class without prior knowledge of the Czech language. It shows the possibilities and limits of their visual communication with the environment. Pupils with a different mother tongue have still been a marginalized group in the Czech school environment. The thesis is looking for ways to improve this situation, in accordance with the chosen research methodology of a case study with elements of action research. In the theoretical part of the thesis, the author focuses on the legislative framework, which provides a context for the social inclusion of pupils with a different mother tongue. It emphasizes cultural competence, identity, and the newly emerging concept of well-being; examines the issue of social inclusion in the school environment and the broader context of inclusive education. Visual Representations of the Mother in Pre-School Children's Art

This work is focusing on the issue of the portrayal of the mother in artistic statement of preschool children with a consideration on potential reflections of the changes in the conception of the role of the mother in the public. The theoretical part is focusing on present state of discoveries about the mother and motherhood from the viewpoints of the sociology and gender studies. It also deals with the viewing of the mother with the children in the visual arts from the first half of the twentieth century. The analysis part brings findings about the viewing of the mother with the children in the present visual arts and further description and the evaluation of the present practice of the lead of the art activities in the kindergartens. In the last phase of the research is a pedagogical experiment, which at the same time makes up the core of the didactic work. Together with other research findings it also is a starting point for proposal of new approaches to the theme "Mother", focusing on overcoming present thematic stereotypes in art activities that is lead by teachers in kindergartens. The concluding work makes up the summary of all research findings, which are encouraging to didactic evaluations.
Do We Understand Each Other? The Influence of Child's Cultural Identity on its Visual Expression

The diploma thesis deals with the influences of different native language and cultural habitus of pupils on their activity in art education. The thesis focuses on the integration of cultural contents in art education without disadvantage of pupils with different native languages. It also describes the educational conditions of these pupils in art education and brings out its specifics and the need for an individual approach. The theoretical part is based on literature and it analyzes broader contexts of the topic, such as the relation of the language, culture and mind, cultural contents in art education, semiotics, visual literacy, or cooperation. The artwork is approached as a mean of communication and art education is considered as a space of communication. Several school situations are described in the research part and the attention is focused on communication and cooperation among pupils who are non-native speakers, their art expression, approach and insight on the tasks. The research is based on the observation of non-native speaking pupils at the primary school. The aim is to find recurring situations in these individual cases and put them in the right context. Nikola Rajnohová ABSTRACT The bachelor thesis focuses on development of children's drawing in pre-school through art media. The theoretic part focuses on art in kindergarten and on evolution of children's drawing in preschool. The practical part researches the possibilitie of developing children artistic expression, especially through different kinds of artistic media. One of the used didactic means is s.c. art series, which i salso employed in collecting the terrain data. The research is based on analysing data gathered from interviews with teacher and children's parents.
