ŠMÍDOVÁ, Kristýna
The main aim of the bachelor thesis is to show the insight to upbringing of pre-school children in England in comparisons with the Czech methods of upbringing. The theoretical part of the bachelor thesis deals with a family example, its functions as well as methods of how to bring up a child and general upbringing of pre-schoolchildren. The practical part is focused on an English family living in England and their upbringing ways within a Czech au pair´s perspective while revealing my own one-year experience in the family. There is also a variety of other Czech au pairs experience shown in the thesis. Qualitative method providing an open-question questionnaire was used for the practical part. In the discussion part there is a comparison between Czech professional opinions and the reality which specific Czech au pairs experienced in English families. The survey has shown that the situation in English families is considerably different from the reality Czech au pairs are familiar with. The survey has as well shown that in most cases a liberal style of upbringing is applied in English families seen and experienced for the first time by the majority of Czech au pairs.
