Barbora Markéta Eliášová and the image of Japan in the Czech society in the twentyth 20 century

The work deals with the Czech travelers to Japan who have taken their expeditions in the early 20th century, and after returning to his homeland on their testimony in the form of a travelogue. From this perspective, attention is directed primarily to the person of Barbara Markéta Eliášová which, as the first woman to own not only take a trip around the world, but in Japan, spent several years and knew perfectly the local life. Based on the literary works of travelers is then pointed out that their fellow citizens at home submit an image of Japan as a modernizing country that despite everything, but still retaining the character of traditional society and culture. To a lesser extent, the work deals with political and commercial relations between Japan and the independent Czechoslovakia after 1918. Relations between the two countries to develop contacts with Czech legionnaires and Japanese soldiers fighting together against the Bolsheviks in Siberia. Were then rounded out the emergence of the Czechoslovak Embassy in Tokyo.
Alpine Landscape from English travel literature ( the first half of the 18th century)

The aim of this thesis is to trace the image of mountains, mountain landscape and nature in selected English/British travelogues and correspondence from the first half of the 18th century containing accounts of their authors' travels to the Alpine region. Firstly, the author of the thesis briefly outlines general development of the European attitude towards mountains before the half of the 18th century. After that he introduces each of the texts and their authors individually and then examines and compares them regarding chiefly the way of mentioning, describing or valuation of mountains and mountain landscape. Finally, he presents his findings and tries to confront them with some general theses on development of the perception of mountains, nature and landscape. Library of voyager Joe Hloucha

This bachelor's thesis deals with the personal library of the Czech voyager, collector and writer Joe Hloucha. The aim is to find out information about the library and describe localized fragment of Hloucha's library. The introduction presents the key terms of the thesis. Second part discusses biography of Joe Hloucha including his collecting activities. The third chapter deals with Hloucha's writing career. The fourth chapter describes the process of searching for books from his personal library. The fifth chapter is devoted to description of founded copies from his personal library. In conclusion the thesis summarizes obtained findings and sumps up the current state of the books from Hloucha's property.
